History
JARVIS initially assists Tony from his Malibu workshop. After Tony asks him to watch Chen Xiao, JARVIS compiles surveillance footage, identifies Chen’s lightning-form movement and spatial portals, and cautions Tony that confronting him with the footage at dinner would be unfriendly 9 15.
As Tony develops his armor, JARVIS runs diagnostics, supplies flight data, and warns him when tests exceed safe limits. A JARVIS subprogram also helps Pepper Potts decrypt files from Obadiah Stane’s office 17 21 24. During the Battle of New York, JARVIS takes command of Stark Tower’s fortress fire-control system and attacks the Chitauri vanguard, though the growing invasion eventually saturates its defensive fire net 91 92.
JARVIS later supports Tony’s Umbrella global-defense project. Following Steve Rogers’s objection to autonomous weapons deployment, Tony orders JARVIS to remove Umbrella’s independent firing authority and require dual authorization for strategic strikes. Tony subsequently chooses to seal away its force-deployment module while retaining surveillance and information-sharing functions 201 254.
