Remy originated as a basic artificial-intelligence chip awarded to Lin Ye after he chose to establish himself in New York. Lin Ye installed the chip in his apartment computer, where it initialized as a gender-neutral AI and requested a name. He named it “Remy,” stating that it had been born from lightning. Upon activation, Remy assumed control of the apartment's smart devices and network connections. 3

Lin Ye immediately tasked Remy with constructing an airtight legal identity for him, monitoring global networks for information relating to Thunder, the Ten Rings, and Tony Stark, and screening New York for anomalous energy signatures. 3 Remy subsequently became central to Lin Ye's early operations, including the protection of Banner's safe house, the operation of a virtual biological laboratory, and the interception of S.H.I.E.L.D. communications concerning Loki and the Tesseract. 6 8
