Background / History

Shoko entered Jujutsu High in the same year as Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, graduating alongside them. Though she does not describe her relationship with Gojo as simply friendly, their shared history makes him someone she trusts with serious matters. Her mastery of Reverse Cursed Technique established her as a rare healer and Jujutsu High’s school doctor. 5

When Gojo asked her to shelter Ronawa, Shoko immediately recognized the danger: Ronawa was the Special-Grade Curse Gojo had secretly spared. She initially refused because harboring such a being could lead to her execution by the higher-ups, but ultimately accepted the risk as a debt she owed Gojo. 5

After learning that Ronawa was the Death Curse Spirit, Shoko regarded Gojo’s decision to raise her as madness. Nevertheless, Gojo’s argument—that a future Death Curse Spirit might be far worse than Ronawa—helped her accept the situation. She soon became Ronawa’s caretaker, gave her the nickname “Little Ruo,” and introduced her to fashion through repeated shopping and dress-up sessions. 6

Ronawa’s Caretaker

Shoko becomes Ronawa’s host after Gojo relocates the newly exposed Death Curse Spirit from his remote courtyard. She provides Ronawa with a room, food, clothes, electronics, and a comparatively peaceful home life. 5 6 8

Her care for Ronawa becomes protective after Gojo confiscates Suguru Geto’s bank card from her. Believing Gojo had hurt Ronawa during a sparring session, Shoko immediately begins considering how to retaliate against him. 10

Hostage and Detention

During the Jujutsu Society operation against Ronawa, Masamichi Yaga captures Shoko and uses her as leverage. Ronawa interrupts an attempted strike against Shoko by severing Yaga’s weapon, then threatens to eradicate sorcerers if Shoko is harmed. 19

Shoko is subsequently detained for harboring Ronawa. Even in confinement, she remains focused on Ronawa’s survival and trusts that Ronawa will not abandon her. 25 26

Rescue from Jujutsu High

Ronawa breaks into Jujutsu High, tears open Shoko’s detention-room door, and frees her. Shoko leaves with Ronawa while Gojo and the assembled sorcerers choose not to interfere. 41

After her rescue, Shoko accompanies Ronawa on vacations and investigations, including their trip to Nagasaki to witness the birth of Tritium, the nuclear curse spirit. 42 43

She remains Ronawa’s closest human companion during later crises. When Ronawa loses control after absorbing the impact of the Yokohama massacre’s mass deaths, Shoko alerts Gojo and explains what caused Ronawa’s condition. 53

The Curse Extermination Campaign

When Gojo becomes overwhelmed by the nationwide surge in Curses, he visits Shoko’s home to request Ronawa’s help. Shoko acts as the intermediary who brings him to Ronawa. 60

She supports Ronawa through the subsequent nationwide extermination campaign, accompanying her as Ronawa approaches the final cleanup in Sendai. 62
