Early documented activities

Spirit Hall houses and raises orphaned children such as Dongfang Yu, whom Yue Guan brought to its Elder Residence. It conducts martial-soul awakening ceremonies, tests innate soul power, and determines whether children qualify to become soul masters. 1

After Dongfang Yu awakens the angelic Holy Maiden martial soul and displays innate level-20 soul power, Yue Guan takes him directly to Papal Hall. Pope Bibi Dong accepts him as her disciple, orders secrecy around his exceptional status, assigns him a residence, and personally directs the selection of his early Soul Rings. 2 3

Bibi Dong’s cultivation methods are severe. Dongfang Yu is tested in arena battles, ordered to kill opponents, and made to earn recognition from the Golden Generation rather than relying on the Pope’s authority. 6 13 14

Campaign against Evil Soul Masters

Spirit Hall dispatches Dongfang Yu and Hu Liena to investigate disappearances near Nuoding City. The local branch, led by Bishop Xiao Enzuo, has suffered heavy losses while investigating the suspected Evil Soul Masters. 16 17

After the group is captured, Dongfang Yu oversees a public execution. He presents Spirit Hall as a defender of commoners and urges civilians to report Evil Soul Master activity; the crowd’s initial skepticism turns into vocal support. 19 20

The campaign improves Spirit Hall’s standing among civilians and draws many commoner soul masters into its ranks. The resulting increase in personnel also creates major costs for weapons, armor, food, and other military supplies. 23 24

Commercial expansion

Facing mounting military expenses, Spirit Hall begins using Dongfang Yu’s inventions to fund its operations and expand its influence. 24 26

Political infiltration and consolidation

Spirit Hall covertly expands its influence within the Heaven Dou Empire through Dongfang Yu’s cooperation with Crown Prince Xue Qinghe. Dongfang Yu advises Bibi Dong that controlling the empire’s leadership and exploiting its internal rivalries would be more effective than attempting an immediate direct conquest. 81 87

During Prince Xue Xing’s attempted rebellion, Spirit Hall agents and Title Douluo support Xue Qinghe’s seizure of Heaven Dou City. Dongfang Yu and Gui Mei neutralize ministers and guards who could support Emperor Xue Ye, and Dongfang Yu openly identifies himself as a Spirit Hall representative before the emperor. 104 108 110

Bibi Dong simultaneously prevents the Star Luo Empire from exploiting Heaven Dou’s unrest. Her personal visit to Emperor Dai Tianfeng, coupled with the revelation that Spirit Hall personnel are already active across Star Luo City, compels him to delay military action. 107

Spirit Hall also turns the Soul Master Elite Tournament into a demonstration of its military and political authority. After its team defeats Shrek Academy, Bibi Dong uses the public ceremony to frame Tang San as Tang Hao’s son and incite the audience to demand his arrest. 172

Subjugation of factions

After deciding that a future war against the two great empires was unavoidable, Bibi Dong orders Dongfang Yu to suppress the Upper Three Sects, Lower Four Sects, Five Element Academies, and other independent factions before open imperial expansion begins. Qian Daoliu agrees to the larger plan, removing the immediate obstacle posed by Douluo Hall. 244

Dongfang Yu secures the Five Element Academies through indirect political pressure rather than open force. He falsely presents the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect as having joined Spirit Hall, then uses the resulting rumors and fear of isolation to persuade Skywater Academy and the other academies to submit or remain neutral. 246 247 248

Spirit Hall’s forces later destroy the Speed Clan. Hu Liena and Yue Guan oversee the elimination of its remaining survivors, including Bai Chenxiang. 256

By the time Bibi Dong prepares the empire’s formal founding, the upper sects are no longer considered a significant threat, and most smaller factions have submitted or been destroyed. 256

Formation of the Spirit Hall Empire

Bibi Dong announces that Spirit Hall will establish its own empire, publicly justifying the decision by accusing the Heaven Dou and Star Luo Empires of oppressing the people and bringing suffering to the continent. She assigns major administrative and military offices before the coronation, including Hu Liena as Holy Maiden and Grand Marshal and Yue Guan and Gui Mei as deputy marshals. 263

Before the new state’s founding, Spirit Hall launches an expedition against Sea God Island to prevent it from aligning with the two great empires and to demonstrate overwhelming force. Bibi Dong’s secretly prepared invasion force includes twenty thousand soldiers, one hundred warships, and eight Title Douluo. 257

The Sea God Island expedition returns to Spirit City with Bo Saixi in Spirit Hall custody. Qian Daoliu states that he brought her there to protect her, and later agrees to restore part of her strength under conditions she imposes. 262 263

A court struggle follows the empire’s formation. Yue Guan, Gui Mei, Qian Daoliu, Golden Crocodile, and a large portion of the court support Dongfang Yu against Bibi Dong’s appointment of Hu Liena. Dongfang Yu reveals that Hu Liena has been detained on accusations of treason and presents an edict naming himself Holy Son, heir, Lord Wu’an, and commander of all imperial forces; Bibi Dong seals the document. 270

Despite this transfer of authority, Bibi Dong continues to command the empire’s initial campaign against Star Luo. After the continental conquest, she abdicates in favor of Hu Liena, while publicly marrying Dongfang Yu. 285 287

Continental conquest

Bibi Dong orders the Spirit Hall Empire to march against the Star Luo Empire as the first major war in its campaign to unify the continent. Heaven Dou enters the conflict in support of Star Luo, turning the campaign into a three-way war. 285

Spirit Hall destroys the Clear Sky Sect early in the war, captures Tang Xiao, and kills its elders. With its external support removed, Star Luo collapses rapidly: Dongfang Yu leads the final assault on Star Luo City, which falls within half an hour, and Dai Mubai is captured. 287

Dongfang Yu immediately redirects the victorious army toward Heaven Dou. Heaven Dou surrenders one month later, leaving the Spirit Hall Empire as the unified ruler of the Douluo Continent. 287

Internal Conflict

Spirit Hall is divided between Bibi Dong’s Papal Hall and Qian Daoliu’s Douluo Hall faction. Qian Daoliu initially allows Bibi Dong to cultivate Dongfang Yu, but later regards the boy’s talent as too dangerous to remain outside his control. 17 44

After Dongfang Yu chooses Bibi Dong’s protection, she brings him into Papal Hall and begins treating him as a potential weapon against the Qian clan. Qian Daoliu and Golden Crocodile avoid openly attacking him because a direct clash with the Pope could damage Spirit Hall’s reputation. 46

Qian Daoliu instead relies on Qian Renxue as an indirect means of eliminating Dongfang Yu. Following her defeat, however, Bibi Dong and Dongfang Yu spare her because killing her could provoke open conflict between Douluo Hall and Papal Hall. 46 50

The divide later weakens when Qian Daoliu accepts Bibi Dong’s plan to establish an empire. He subsequently supports Dongfang Yu during the court action against Bibi Dong’s appointment of Hu Liena, joining Golden Crocodile and a substantial portion of the imperial court in backing Dongfang Yu. 244 270

Dongfang Yu’s rise creates a new internal struggle centered on succession. Bibi Dong initially names Hu Liena Holy Maiden and Grand Marshal, but Dongfang Yu’s supporters remove her from office, detain her for alleged treason, and elevate him as Holy Son and heir. 263 270

The leadership question remains politically unstable after Bibi Dong seals Dongfang Yu’s edict. She continues commanding the empire’s first continental war, then abdicates in favor of Hu Liena after the continent is unified. 285 287
