Early documented activities

Spirit Hall houses and raises orphaned children such as Dongfang Yu, whom Yue Guan brought to its Elder Residence. It conducts martial-soul awakening ceremonies, tests innate soul power, and determines whether children qualify to become soul masters. 1

After Dongfang Yu awakens the angelic Holy Maiden martial soul and displays innate level-20 soul power, Yue Guan takes him directly to Papal Hall. Pope Bibi Dong accepts him as her disciple, orders secrecy around his exceptional status, assigns him a residence, and personally directs the selection of his early Soul Rings. 2 3

Bibi Dong’s cultivation methods are severe. Dongfang Yu is tested in arena battles, ordered to kill opponents, and made to earn recognition from the Golden Generation rather than relying on the Pope’s authority. 6 13 14

Campaign against Evil Soul Masters

Spirit Hall dispatches Dongfang Yu and Hu Liena to investigate disappearances near Nuoding City. The local branch, led by Bishop Xiao Enzuo, has suffered heavy losses while investigating the suspected Evil Soul Masters. 16 17

After the group is captured, Dongfang Yu oversees a public execution. He presents Spirit Hall as a defender of commoners and urges civilians to report Evil Soul Master activity; the crowd’s initial skepticism turns into vocal support. 19 20

The campaign improves Spirit Hall’s standing among civilians and draws many commoner soul masters into its ranks. The resulting increase in personnel also creates major costs for weapons, armor, food, and other military supplies. 23 24

Commercial expansion

Facing mounting military expenses, Spirit Hall begins using Dongfang Yu’s inventions to fund its operations and expand its influence. 24 26

Leadership and centers

• Papal Hall — The Pope’s seat of authority in Spirit City. Bibi Dong directs disciples, assigns missions, manages commercial policy, and issues orders through the hall. 2 24 33

Internal Conflict

Spirit Hall is divided between Bibi Dong’s Papal Hall and Qian Daoliu’s Douluo Hall faction. Qian Daoliu initially allows Bibi Dong to cultivate Dongfang Yu, but later regards the boy’s talent as too dangerous to remain outside his control. 17 44

After Dongfang Yu chooses Bibi Dong’s protection, she brings him into Papal Hall and begins treating him as a potential weapon against the Qian clan. Qian Daoliu and Golden Crocodile avoid openly attacking him because a direct clash with the Pope could damage Spirit Hall’s reputation. 46

Qian Daoliu instead relies on Qian Renxue as an indirect means of eliminating Dongfang Yu. Following her defeat, however, Bibi Dong and Dongfang Yu spare her because killing her could provoke open conflict between Douluo Hall and Papal Hall. 46 50
