Background / History
Tang Ya was raised in the Tang Sect and lost her parents when the Iron Blood Sect seized the sect’s businesses and massacred its members. She survived because she had remained behind to care for the unconscious Lu Chen. During the following six months, every former ally she sought refused to help, including Shrek Academy’s Sea God Pavilion. Shrek offered her admission and a yearly exemption slot for Tang Sect members, but would not intervene against the Iron Blood Sect. 1
While Lu Chen remained comatose, Tang Ya regularly used the Mysterious Heaven Technique to nourish his vitality and clear his meridians. Her care kept his body healthy throughout nearly four years of unconsciousness. 2
Initially intending to enter Shrek alone and pursue revenge through cultivation, Tang Ya changes course after Lu Chen awakens and promises to share her vengeance. She accepts his plan to seek the Body Sect instead, trusting him as her closest remaining family. 1 3
Lu Chen teaches her the Flowing Water Meditation Method and the accompanying Flowing Water Rock-Shattering Fist. The meditation method greatly exceeds the Mysterious Heaven Technique in efficiency; after one night of practice, Tang Ya estimates that she can reach Level 22 within half a month. 4
She accompanies Lu Chen from Heavenly Spirit City to the Body Sect and later into the Star Dou Forest. There, she confesses that her Blue Silver Grass has begun developing a destructive, devouring nature—a power she fears will turn her into an Evil Soul Master. 29 34
With Lu Chen’s encouragement, Tang Ya accepts the hidden attribute of her Martial Soul and uses it to devour the Earth Demon Ape’s remaining life essence. Her Blue Silver Grass becomes purple-black Dark Blue Silver Grass, but the hunger it induces briefly overwhelms her reason and drives her to drain Lu Chen nearly to death. Believing she has killed him, she attempts suicide before his Immortal Body restores him. 35 36
Appearance
Tang Ya is a slender young girl with pale blue hair, large dark eyes, and a delicate face. Her eyes are often red and swollen during periods of grief, particularly after the destruction of the Tang Sect. 1
- Her normal Martial Soul manifests as emerald-green Blue Silver Grass. 35
- After awakening, her vines turn purple-black and emit a sinister aura when using the Devouring Attribute. 35 42
- During loss of control, black qi appears in her eyes. 1 35
Personality
Tang Ya is deeply affectionate, protective, and emotionally expressive. She cared for Lu Chen through years of unconsciousness, manages their limited money, worries over his reckless battles, and celebrates his victories without reserve. 2 5 19
The deaths of her parents leave her fearful and grief-stricken, but not passive. She is determined to destroy the Iron Blood Sect, though her awareness of the sect’s power and the influence of noble families sometimes makes her restrain herself to avoid endangering Lu Chen. 1 8
She is playful and lively around those she trusts, often teasing Lu Chen while calling herself his older sister. Her insecurity centers on her weak former Blue Silver Grass and, later, the fear that her Devouring Attribute makes her evil. 1 4 34
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass
Tang Ya’s original Martial Soul is Blue Silver Grass, which she considers too weak to support her revenge ambitions. Its limited early potential leaves her far behind Body Sect talents such as Long Aotian. 1 4 23
- Possesses two Soul Rings by the time she awakens Dark Blue Silver Grass. 35
- Is strongly suppressed by Lu Chen’s Ultimate Light Body Martial Soul. 2
- Its latent mutation first shows itself as black energy in her eyes when she swears vengeance on the Iron Blood Sect. 1
Dark Blue Silver Grass
Tang Ya’s awakened Martial Soul is a purple-black evolution of Blue Silver Grass with a powerful Devouring Attribute. It feeds on life force and can convert absorbed energy into soul-power and bodily growth. 35 43
- Drained the Earth Demon Ape’s corpse into a shriveled shell during its awakening. 35
- Can devour the life force of powerful Soul Beasts, including the Mountain-Shaking Dragon Rhino. 42
- Absorbing the rhino’s Mountain Dragon King bloodline increased her soul power by roughly ten percent and strengthened her body and meridians. 43
- Lu Chen’s Ultimate Light purifies resentment and negative energy from what she absorbs, helping prevent corruption. 43
- Overuse or reckless devouring can erode her mind, induce loss of control, and cause others to mistake her for an Evil Soul Master. 35 42
Mysterious Heaven Technique
Tang Ya uses the Tang Sect’s Mysterious Heaven Technique for cultivation and bodily nourishment. 2
- Maintained Lu Chen’s blood, vitality, and meridians throughout his long coma. 2
- Its cultivation efficiency is described as roughly triple ordinary meditation. 4

Lu Chen teaches Tang Ya this meditation method after his awakening. It is significantly more efficient than the Mysterious Heaven Technique. 4
- Greatly improves her cultivation confidence and rate of progress. 4
- Is paired with the Flowing Water Rock-Shattering Fist, which Lu Chen also offers to teach her. 4
