Background / History

Tang Ya was raised in the Tang Sect and lost her parents when the Iron Blood Sect seized the sect’s businesses and massacred its members. She survived because she had remained behind to care for the unconscious Lu Chen. During the following six months, every former ally she sought refused to help, including Shrek Academy’s Sea God Pavilion. Shrek offered her admission and a yearly exemption slot for Tang Sect members, but would not intervene against the Iron Blood Sect. 1

While Lu Chen remained comatose, Tang Ya regularly used the Mysterious Heaven Technique to nourish his vitality and clear his meridians. Her care kept his body healthy throughout nearly four years of unconsciousness. 2

Initially intending to enter Shrek alone and pursue revenge through cultivation, Tang Ya changes course after Lu Chen awakens and promises to share her vengeance. She accepts his plan to seek the Body Sect instead, trusting him as her closest remaining family. 1 3

Lu Chen teaches her the Flowing Water Meditation Method and the accompanying Flowing Water Rock-Shattering Fist. The meditation method greatly exceeds the Mysterious Heaven Technique in efficiency; after one night of practice, Tang Ya estimates that she can reach Level 22 within half a month. 4

She accompanies Lu Chen from Heavenly Spirit City to the Body Sect and later into the Star Dou Forest. There, she confesses that her Blue Silver Grass has begun developing a destructive, devouring nature—a power she fears will turn her into an Evil Soul Master. 29 34

With Lu Chen’s encouragement, Tang Ya accepts the hidden attribute of her Martial Soul and uses it to devour the Earth Demon Ape’s remaining life essence. Her Blue Silver Grass becomes purple-black Dark Blue Silver Grass, but the hunger it induces briefly overwhelms her reason and drives her to drain Lu Chen nearly to death. Believing she has killed him, she attempts suicide before his Immortal Body restores him. 35 36

Tang Ya returns to Heaven Dou City with Lu Chen’s group to reclaim the Tang Sect’s former residence, which had been renamed the Iron Blood Sect. She joins the assault against those responsible for her parents’ deaths, impaling and devouring fleeing enemies with Dark Blue Silver Grass. 52

After Zhao Cheng is exposed as a city-defense commander bribed by Tie Li to prevent her parents’ escape, Tang Ya executes him herself. She then helps exterminate the Iron Blood Sect, but excessive devouring drives her into a vengeful frenzy until Lu Chen purifies her negative energy. 54 55

Having achieved vengeance for her parents, Tang Ya decides not to personally rebuild the Tang Sect. She chooses to stay with Lu Chen and leave the sect’s restoration to a future inheritor. 55

When offered the safer Blue Silver Emperor evolution route, Tang Ya instead chooses the uncertain Dark Blue Silver Emperor route. She seeks to surpass Tang Sect tradition by developing the darkness and devouring nature uniquely suited to her Martial Soul. 70 71

Luo Wei later helps Tang Ya obtain a third Soul Ring from a Netherworld Life-Reaping Orchid, officially advancing her into the Soul Elder realm. 76

Through Netherworld Bloodvines, rare herbs, and absorbed enemy energy, Tang Ya’s cultivation rises at an extraordinary pace. Tang Ya is a slender young girl with pale blue hair, large dark eyes, and a delicate face. Her eyes are often red and swollen during periods of grief, particularly after the destruction of the Tang Sect. 1

The deaths of her parents leave her fearful and grief-stricken, but not passive. She is determined to destroy the Iron Blood Sect, though her awareness of the sect’s power and the influence of noble families sometimes makes her restrain herself to avoid endangering Lu Chen. 1 8

She is playful and lively around those she trusts, often teasing Lu Chen while calling herself his older sister. Her insecurity centers on her weak former Blue Silver Grass and, later, the fear that her Devouring Attribute makes her evil. 1 4 34
