Friendship's Breakdown, Madara's Killing Intent Toward Hashirama

Feeling the heat of the blazing flames, it was as if they were standing in a sea of fire. No one could possibly survive such a thing. After all, this terrifying high-level Fire Release possessed the power to destroy everything.

The Uchiha Clan members believed the Senju Clan was nothing special. Compared to the Uchiha, every other ninja clan was trash!

The proud and unruly Uchiha clansmen charged toward the Senju Clan, feeling that victory was already within reach.

Uchiha Madara had only just awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan and was not yet used to fighting with Susanoo. Thinking that his good friend could not possibly have survived after being engulfed by such flames, he deactivated his Mangekyo Sharingan to conserve his ocular power.

Suddenly, the raging sea of flames was extinguished by surging waves that swept up from within the fire.

"Hashirama?!"

Uchiha Madara turned around and, sure enough, saw Senju Hashirama emerge alive. His expression immediately darkened as he activated his Mangekyo Sharingan again and roared, "Why won't you just take your naivety and die?!"

Senju Hashirama said quietly, "I won't let you kill Tobirama! And I firmly believe that, through my efforts, I can carve out the peace I dream of!"

"Peace?! What peace? The slaughter between the Uchiha and Senju Clans? Stop joking. Peace is fundamentally impossible. Your brother, Tobirama Senju, nearly killed Izuna. And you still want to talk to me about dreams? It really makes me want to kill you!"

"I apologize on Tobirama's behalf, but I can't stand by and watch you kill him! There must be a way to reconcile the hatred between the Senju and Uchiha. Then we can fight side by side!"

"Then kill Tobirama Senju with your own hands. Only then will I believe you."

What peace? What dreams? The things they had said as children were actually being taken seriously now. It was laughable.

Uchiha Jobu frowned, thinking that this was bad. In the original timeline, Tobirama Senju would develop the Flying Raijin Technique in the future and use it to kill Izuna Uchiha. Enraged, Uchiha Madara would lead the Uchiha into war against the Senju time and again.

The two sides were evenly matched. If they kept fighting, there would be no winner.

But much like now, Senju Hashirama had repeatedly spoken of the dream he and Uchiha Madara had shared as children. He had even said that he was willing to sacrifice himself, so long as the hatred between the Senju and Uchiha Clans could be resolved.

Uchiha Madara stared in shock. He had never expected Senju Hashirama to truly dare to stab a kunai into his own chest, willing to sacrifice himself merely to dissolve the hatred between the Senju and Uchiha Clans.

"Madara! Don't be fooled! Do you not know how strong the Senju Clan's vitality is? A wound like this is nothing more than a minor injury to Senju Hashirama. How could he possibly die!"

"His so-called self-sacrifice is nothing but an act. He wants to deceive you into reconciling the Senju and Uchiha, then use the Uchiha Clan's strength to fulfill the dream he keeps talking about!"

Seeing that things were truly about to go wrong, and sensing that Uchiha Madara's resolve had already begun to waver, how could Uchiha Jobu possibly do nothing?

Upon hearing this, Uchiha Madara's expression immediately turned ugly. Only then did he remember that Senju Clan ninja possessed tremendous vitality, and their injuries generally healed quickly.

The stronger the Senju clansman, the greater his vitality. A clan leader-level powerhouse like Senju Hashirama possessed such immense life force that even severe injuries could be easily healed.

It was a Wood Release defensive ninjutsu similar to Water Formation Wall and Earth Flow Wall. Senju Hashirama formed a single hand seal symbolically, then used it with ease.

Yet whether because his Wood Release had not been developed enough or because Senju Hashirama at this stage had not awakened Ashura's chakra, the Wood Release he used lacked that verdant vitality.

The wood was easily smashed apart by Susanoo.

Seeing Uchiha Jobu charging at him again, Tobirama Senju hurriedly used the Substitution Technique to escape, showing no intention of fighting.

Looking at the wood that had been split in two, Uchiha Jobu raised his eyes toward Tobirama Senju's miserable, panicked retreat. He snorted coldly, then supported Izuna Uchiha as they withdrew to the Uchiha Clan's camp.
