Background

Shangwu was a modern person transmigrated into the Naruto world during the Warring States Era. At six years old, he became an Uchiha child forced into lethal combat before awakening the Sharingan. His first supply-convoy battle revealed his unique treasure-chest system: enemies he personally kills can drop loot boxes containing weapons, supplies, skill fragments, and eventually Kekkei Genkai. 1

After rapidly learning Earth Release: Earth Spear, he earned recognition from Uchiha Kuwajima and the clan elders as a prodigy comparable to Madara. Though initially focused on gaining kills and improving himself, he began considering the Uchiha Clan’s political future, advocating protection and integration of weaker subordinate clans rather than simple exploitation. 2 9

Two years later, he became known among the younger Uchiha as “the Star.” He supported Madara’s succession as clan head and supplied the strategic vision for a centralized ninja-village system built around standardized squads and Uchiha leadership. 13

Personality

Shangwu is pragmatic, analytical, and willing to use battlefield violence as a resource. He immediately recognized the value of his treasure-chest system and deliberately claimed kills to accumulate weapons and techniques. 1 He values planning and long-term clan strength, arguing that alliances and protection of subordinate clans are more sustainable than simple exploitation. 9 12

His pragmatism has a darker side. He conducted dangerous Kekkei Genkai-transfer experiments on refugees, accepting a severe mortality rate in pursuit of strengthening the Uchiha. He later entrusts his laboratory to Izuna after recognizing his desire for power and revenge. 23

In combat, Shangwu can become exhilarated by slaughter, particularly after activating the Dead Bone Pulse. He is initially arrogant toward lesser-known opponents, but his battle with Qian Rou forces him to confront that flaw and treat every enemy as a serious threat. 16 33 34

Early Battles and Clan Recognition

At six, Shangwu survives his first mission against rogue ninja, discovers the treasure-chest system, and completes Earth Spear from collected fragments. His lethal efficiency and advanced shurikenjutsu bring him to the Uchiha elders’ attention. 1 2

During the Kaguya Clan’s surprise attack on the Uchiha compound, he joins Madara and Izuna in a coordinated counterattack. Their Fire and Earth Release combination turns the battle, while Shangwu obtains Dead Bone Pulse fragments and a One-Tomoe Sharingan from higher-grade chests. 6 7

Uchiha Political Development

Shangwu argues that the Uchiha should protect the Hagoromo Clan as a dependent ally rather than simply exploit it. Tajima favors his political insight, while Madara accepts Shangwu as the supporting force behind his future leadership. 9

First Senju War

Shangwu faces Tobirama during the Uchiha–Senju conflict. Unable to match Tobirama’s older body in taijutsu, he unveils the Dead Bone Pulse and becomes a major battlefield threat through his combination of bone weapons and Sharingan perception. 14 15

He kills roughly sixty enemy ninja during the battle and gains additional elemental skill fragments as well as Rust Release. His violence frightens Senju, Uzumaki, and allied ninja despite their superior numbers. 15 16

Chinoike Clan Conflict

While protecting Shinteng Zoi, Shangwu confronts Chinoike assassins and learns that their Blood Dragon Eye can turn controlled people into living bombs. 25

He later battles Chinoike clan head Qian Rou during the assault on the Land of Lightning’s capital. Qian Rou’s layered human-bomb tactics expose the limits of his Dead Bone Pulse and force him to reevaluate his own arrogance. 32 33

After his ocular power improves, he counters the human bombs with Water Formation Wall and remains competitive against Qian Rou’s Blood Dragon Eye. Madara ultimately ends the battle with Susanoo and Majestic Destroyer Flame, accidentally destroying the treasure chest Shangwu expected from Qian Rou. 34 35

Hyuga Alliance

Shangwu accepts a suspicious Hyuga mission to serve as a taijutsu instructor, using it to investigate the clan’s intentions. He spars with Hyuga Tensei and later Hyuga Tennin, learning that the Hyuga’s Gentle Fist can penetrate his bone defenses. 38 40 41

The resulting relationship contributes to a Uchiha–Hyuga alliance. During the later Senju war, the Hyuga Branch Family enters the battlefield on the Uchiha side, motivated in part by the prospect of producing a Byakugan–Dead Bone Pulse wielder. 49

Renewed War Against the Senju

Shangwu accompanies Madara to meet Hashirama but opposes any reconciliation with the Senju. He supports Madara’s decision to declare war, believing peace would only leave the Uchiha vulnerable. 43 45

In the resulting large-scale conflict, he uses Three-Tomoe Sharingan, Dead Bone Pulse armor, and the Dragon Lair summoning contract to slaughter enemy forces and pressure Tobirama. 46 49 50
