Background & Story Role

Xingluo obligations and Shrek Academy

Zhuqing fled Xingluo carrying exhaustion and concealed injuries connected to her circumstances there. Lin Yan’s Holy Light Healing restored her stamina and removed those lingering injuries, creating her first favorable impression of him 2.

She joined Shrek Academy to cultivate rather than to reunite with Dai Mubai, her politically arranged fiancé. Zhuqing viewed Dai as irresponsible, sexually promiscuous, and dangerously unprepared for the Xingluo imperial succession struggle, where defeat could mean death 21.

Her focus on cultivation also distinguished her from the academy’s interpersonal disputes. During Tang San’s accusations concerning his missing storage belt, she dismissed the confrontation as a waste of time and registered for a one-on-one soul fight instead 14.

Alliance with Lin Yan

After witnessing Lin Yan’s soul-guidance weapons, Zhuqing sought him out privately to determine whether she could use them herself. She wanted strength that would let her survive without relying on Dai Mubai or the Xingluo royal family 18 19.

Her initial attempt to obtain Lin Yan’s weapons was transactional and distrustful, but she ultimately chose him over Dai Mubai and entered a secret relationship with him. Lin Yan’s system registered her favorability at 100% after she openly broke with Dai 20 21 22.

Maintaining secrecy frustrated Zhuqing, who envied Ning Rongrong’s ability to openly express affection toward Lin Yan and increasingly wanted public recognition of their relationship 25 38. After Dai’s death, she asked whether they should tell the others, and Ning Rongrong accepted her as another partner rather than treating her as a rival 48 49.

Zhuqing subsequently declared Lin Yan to be her boyfriend in front of the Shrek group when Tang San threatened him following Yu Xiaogang’s injury. She stepped between the two men and insisted that Tang San would have to get past her before harming Lin Yan 52.

Break with Dai Mubai

Zhuqing repeatedly rejected Dai Mubai’s possessiveness and condemned his habit of blaming others for the consequences of his own behavior. She refused to support him during the conflict with Canghui Academy and openly called him incompetent after he blamed Ning Rongrong for the group’s poor performance 21 22.

Dai’s hostility escalated into an attempted assault, which Zhuqing survived through a Soul Shield supplied by Lin Yan 23. When Dai later ambushed Zhuqing, Ning Rongrong, and Lin Yan with Xingluo guards, Zhuqing accepted Lin Yan’s public declaration that they were together and fought beside him 45 46.

During the ambush, Zhuqing warned Dai that harming Ning Rongrong could provoke a conflict between Xingluo and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Lin Yan entrusted her with protecting Rongrong, and the two women used successive Soul Shields to survive the shockwaves of his attacks 45 46 47.

Lin Yan’s revelation of his Seraph martial soul overturned Zhuqing’s expectations. She had assumed that she would eventually need to protect him and Ning Rongrong as support soul masters; instead, she discovered that Lin Yan himself possessed overwhelming combat strength 47.

After Lin Yan defeated Dai and his guards, Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong jointly executed Dai with soul-guidance weapons. Dai’s attempt to offer Zhuqing to Lin Yan in exchange for his own life confirmed Zhuqing’s belief that leaving him had been the correct choice 48.

Tiger Talisman

Lin Yan gave Zhuqing the Tiger Talisman obtained through his system reward. When activated, it split her into two physically separate selves with identical memories but contrasting personalities: one gentle, shy, and apologetic; the other cold, defiant, and fiercely self-reliant 23 24.

The colder personality immediately tried to escape after realizing she was independent from the original Zhuqing, establishing that the division creates two autonomous wills rather than a simple illusion or obedient clone 24.

Lin Yan prevented the escape with a Level 2 Soul Restraint Device. The cold personality, called Aloof Cat, continued resisting his attempts to control her, and by the following morning he regarded her defiance as an unresolved, long-term problem 24 25.

Departure from Soto City

Following Dai’s death and the worsening conflict with Tang San’s side, Zhuqing left Soto City with Lin Yan, Ning Rongrong, and Xiao Wu. She continued to receive customized equipment from Lin Yan during their journey to Tiandou City, where the group reached the Ye Residence 64 66 67.

The possibility of Xingluo discovering her whereabouts had already influenced her support for leaving Shrek. Zhuqing feared that Dai’s disappearance and their actions could not remain concealed indefinitely 49.

Stay at the Ye Residence

Zhuqing accompanied Lin Yan and the others during their stay with Ye Rou’er. She joined their shopping outings in Tiandou City, browsing clothes with Ning Rongrong while Lin Yan addressed Xiao Wu’s fear of Dugu Bo 68 77 78.

As Xiao Wu grew closer to Lin Yan, Zhuqing accepted the possibility of her joining their relationship circle and quietly supported Ning Rongrong’s efforts to bring them together 79.

When Tang Hao attacked the Ye Residence, Zhuqing remained comparatively composed and questioned whether Lin Yan could survive the confrontation. At Ye Rou’er’s instruction, she set out to seek Dugu Bo at Heaven Dou Royal Academy, reasoning that her speed and the academy’s relative proximity offered a chance to bring help in time. She initially tried to take Xiao Wu, but left alone when Xiao Wu became too frightened to respond 82 83.

After the battle, Zhuqing cooperated with Lin Yan’s arrangements as Ning Fengzhi and the sect’s Titled Douluo approached. Lin Yan instructed her and Ning Rongrong to conceal what they knew about Tang Hao’s arrival, his opponent, and the battle’s outcome 86.

Captivity at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect

During Lin Yan’s prolonged cultivation at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Ning Fengzhi forcibly brought Zhuqing, Xiao Wu, Ye Rou’er, and Ye Lingling to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Their captivity served as leverage to lure Lin Yan out while Ning Rongrong was being forced into a political marriage with Tang San 103.

Zhuqing was among the companions who sent messages to Lin Yan through Communication Soul Tools. When he finally checked them, their last messages were already three days old, leading him to fear that they had been harmed or deprived of their communicators 103.

Lin Yan later reunited with and rescued the women after Qian Renxue and Spirit Hall’s forces intervened in the confrontation at the sect 109.

Residence at Spirit Hall

Following the sect battle, Zhuqing lived with Lin Yan, Ning Rongrong, Xiao Wu, Ye Rou’er, and Ye Lingling at Spirit Hall. She participated in the household’s quieter domestic life while Lin Yan recovered and dealt with Spirit Hall’s leaders 117.

Zhuqing was present when Lin Yan announced that his improved soul-tool crafting abilities offered a possible way to restore Xiao Wu’s mother. He made the announcement while resting against Zhuqing, with the household sharing in the significance of Xiao Wu’s renewed hope 126.

When Lin Yan departed with Xiao Wu for the Star Dou Great Forest, Zhuqing remained behind with Ning Rongrong and Ye Rou’er. Lin Yan judged that traveling with several less-powerful companions while injured could expose them to danger, and specifically entrusted Zhuqing with looking after Rongrong during his absence 127.

Zhuqing is a slender young woman with dark-purple eyes and a generally cold, restrained public presentation 18 43.

She is blunt toward people she finds irresponsible or hypocritical. Zhuqing openly condemns Dai’s womanizing, entitlement, and refusal to prepare for the political danger facing them both 21 22.

The Tiger Talisman externalizes her internal conflict. Her gentler half seeks reassurance and worries about offending others, while her colder half rejects dependence, prioritizes personal strength, and instinctively seeks freedom 24.

Her public reserve contrasts with a more affectionate and playful manner around Lin Yan. She increasingly seeks open acknowledgment of their relationship, rather than remaining hidden while Ning Rongrong can openly stay beside him 25 38 41 49.

Zhuqing can remain practical under pressure. During Tang Hao’s attack, she quickly accepted the task of seeking Dugu Bo and adjusted her plan when Xiao Wu’s fear made it impossible for them to leave together 82 83. Her loyalty also extends to supporting Lin Yan’s companions, culminating in his request that she care for Ning Rongrong while he travels 127.
