Background

Lin Yan is a transmigrator who initially resented being limited to the support-oriented Prayer Angel martial soul while Tang San possessed Tang Sect techniques and hidden weapons. Before the main events at Shrek Academy, Flender forcibly brought Lin Yan—then a travelling healer—to the academy because of his exceptional healing abilities. Lin Yan spent years treating students such as Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun, but came to believe they regarded him as a convenient resource rather than a valued companion. 4 6

When the Shrek group assembled, Lin Yan awakened the Heroine Conquest Talisman System. Its beginner package gave him a selectable second martial soul, a Peerless Tang Sect-era Soul Tool Crafting Bench, and a level-95 Titled Douluo puppet usable three times. 1

Flender identifies Lin Yan as an orphan without an original connection to Spirit Hall. Lin Yan later tells Xue Qinghe and Qian Daoliu that strangers’ kindness allowed him to survive childhood and that his travelling medical work is a way of passing that kindness onward. Personality

Lin Yan presents himself as a calm, considerate healer who treats wounded people regardless of status. His healing earns him faith power, payment, and influential allies, so his generosity frequently serves both compassionate and practical motives. 9 10 56

Privately, he is highly calculating. He conceals his system, martial-soul selection, soul-tool technology, and long-term plans while manipulating opportunities away from Tang San. He also deliberately cultivates heroines’ favorability to obtain system rewards. 1 18 32 54

His restraint has limits. After the Bu Le Trio attacked his companions despite having received his treatment, Lin Yan killed them with soul-guidance weapons and admitted that his first killing felt thrilling. 17

As his strength and alliances develop, he becomes increasingly outspoken against people who treat support soul masters or commoners as expendable. He distinguishes compassion from submission, insisting that anyone who attempts to kill him must accept the possibility of being killed in return. Tang San’s hostility becomes immediate after Lin Yan displays four purple spirit rings and healing that surpasses ordinary support abilities. Tang Hao subsequently orders Flender to turn Lin Yan into Tang San’s subordinate, an arrangement Lin Yan never accepts. 2 6

Soul Fighting Arena and Soul-Tool Development

Lin Yan opens a healing stall at the Soto Great Soul Fighting Arena, earning gold and faith power while building a reputation among local soul masters. He uses the arena’s traffic to acquire rare metals and develop soul tools. 8 10 13

After arranging the theft of Tang San’s storage belt, Lin Yan dismantles it into storage rings and begins developing weapons that surpass conventional hidden weapons. 13 15

When the Bu Le Trio attempts to assault his group, Lin Yan reveals twelve Floating Cannons and annihilates the attackers without using a martial soul. 16 17

Star Dou Great Forest Interference

Lin Yan intervenes in Tang San’s battle with the Man-Faced Demon Spider, kills the spirit beast himself, heals Tang San publicly, and secretly takes the Eight Spider Lances. 32

He then steers Tang San toward a Millennium Lone Bamboo rather than allowing him to secure a more valuable opportunity, disrupting Yu Xiaogang’s intended cultivation route for him. 33 39

After Yu Xiaogang demands Lin Yan’s secrets and claims entitlement to his methods, Lin Yan uses the Light Shadow Sword to sever Yu Xiaogang’s right arm. 51 52

Flender, Tang San, and Yu Xiaogang later confront Lin Yan at the Soul Fighting Arena. Scar, Ruhua, arena personnel, and Ning Rongrong defend him; after reaching level 50, Lin Yan renounces Flender as his dean and has Scar and Ruhua take Tang San and Yu Xiaogang into custody. 57 58

Departure from Soto City

With Tang Hao expected to retaliate, Lin Yan leaves Soto City with Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, and Xiao Wu, intending to seek shelter with the Ye family in Tiandou City. 64

Before catching up with the group, he travels to Holy Soul Village and takes A Yin’s plant form and the Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone from Tang Hao’s hidden cave. 66

During the carriage journey, he distributes personalized weapons to Zhu Zhuqing and Xiao Wu and gives Ning Rongrong the Dragon Talisman. Its accidental discharge burns his hair, prompting his buzz cut and colder demeanor. The group subsequently arrives at the Ye Residence. 66 67

Ye Residence and Tang Hao’s Defeat

Lin Yan chooses the Ye Residence both for shelter and for access to the Immortal Herb Compendium, Ye Lingling’s connection to Dugu Yan, and a possible path to Dugu Bo’s medicinal garden. He gives Ye Rou’er luminous soul tools in exchange for her assistance and develops a romantic relationship with her. 68 71 76 80

After comforting Ye Rou’er over the Nine Heart Begonia bloodline curse, he opens her and Xiao Wu’s exclusive reward packs, obtaining the Angel Sword and Hundred-Thousand-Year Angel Left Arm Bone. The sword’s disappearance simultaneously alarms Qian Daoliu in Spirit City. 80

Tang Hao tracks Lin Yan to the residence and attacks him over Tang San’s injuries. Lin Yan deploys the rank-95 Seraph puppet and studies its combat while discovering that Tang Hao has fallen to rank 91. He allows Tang Hao to build power through Ring Detonation, then uses Purification to strip every enhancement and trigger catastrophic backlash. Lin Yan refuses Tang Hao’s request to see A Yin and kills him with a final sword strike. 82 83 84

Conflict with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect

Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin arrive after Tang Hao’s defeat. Their hostility toward Lin Yan’s relationship with Ning Rongrong escalates into Chen Xin attacking Ye Rou’er and striking Lin Yan down. Red Dust Blessing prevents fatal injury, but Lin Yan exaggerates his wounds as part of a larger plan and secretly gives Rongrong a communicator. 86 89 90 91

Through their private communication, he authorizes Rongrong to demonstrate selected level-four soul tools to her father, exposing the military value Ning Fengzhi had dismissed. Ning Fengzhi subsequently tries to seize Lin Yan and acquire his manufacturing secrets, but Xue Qinghe and Dugu Bo protect him at the Crown Prince’s Residence. Lin Yan exploits their backing to provoke and publicly humiliate Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin. 92 93 95

Ning Fengzhi later plans to torture or kill Lin Yan for his crafting knowledge and proposes marrying Ning Rongrong to Tang San to secure an alliance with the Clear Sky Sect. 100

Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well Breakthrough

Lin Yan cures Dugu Bo’s longstanding poison through Purification, strengthening their alliance. Dugu Bo then pressures him to become involved with Dugu Yan and takes them to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, offering the Medicine Garden as her dowry. 96 98

Dugu Yan’s completed favorability grants Lin Yan the Red Sky War God Armor. He then uses Chaos Grass to integrate five medicinal plants while fusing the Angel Left Arm Bone. Dugu Yan guards him throughout the half-month process, while Dugu Bo eventually leaves to seek advice from Ye Rou’er. 101 102

Lin Yan awakens as a rank-71 Soul Saint with long golden-red hair, additional rings, and signs that his two souls may eventually merge. Checking his communicator, he finds messages warning of Rongrong’s forced marriage, Xiao Wu’s exposed identity, and his companions’ capture. Their final messages were sent three days earlier, provoking his immediate fury and fear for their safety. 103

Forced Wedding, Rescue, and Chen Xin’s Death

Lin Yan descends onto the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s wedding platform, crushes Tang San beneath his foot, and reunites with Ning Rongrong. He deploys his puppet, armor, Angel Sword, Judgment Sword, and Angel Domain, while Rongrong supports him with her pagoda. Purification strips Ning Fengzhi’s enhancements from Chen Xin and Gu Rong, allowing Lin Yan and the puppet to initially dominate their opponents. 106 107

Tang Xiao intervenes to avenge Tang Hao, destroying Red Dust Blessing and damaging the War God Armor. Fighting Tang Xiao and Chen Xin together, Lin Yan exhausts three restorations from Amnesty Light Recasting and uses Holy Light Barrier, but his divine-damaged left arm deteriorates. Gu Rong destroys the puppet when it shields him, leaving Lin Yan nearly helpless. 107 108

Qian Renxue arrives with five Spirit Hall Titled Douluo and prevents his execution. Lin Yan immediately rescues Xiao Wu, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ye Rou’er, gives Xiao Wu Lovesick Heartbreak Red to conceal her aura, and distributes the Rabbit and Dog Talismans. Ye Rou’er and Ye Lingling heal his external injuries while a Milk Bottle replenishes his soul power. 109 110

Although his armor is unusable and the Angel Sword’s divine power is exhausted, Lin Yan refuses to leave without retaliation. After granting the women temporary flight and entrusting them to Qian Renxue, he suddenly pierces Chen Xin’s throat with the Judgment Sword. Yue Guan and Gui Mei immobilize Gu Rong’s Bone Dragon, allowing Lin Yan to return safely to Spirit Hall’s side. Chen Xin subsequently dies from the wound and the soul power ravaging his body. 110

Spirit Hall, the Angel Sword, and Factional Courtship

During the journey to Spirit Hall, Lin Yan continues recovering from persistent left-arm damage. He reveals knowledge of Qian Renxue’s identity under the explanation of external-bone mind-reading, then offers to marry her if she helps resolve the Angel Sword dispute. She privately appeals to Qian Daoliu on his behalf. 111 112

At the Worship Hall, Lin Yan returns the depleted sword and presents a carefully constructed explanation of his angel souls, personal history, and self-defense. Qian Daoliu interprets his twelve wings as divinely significant and ends the confrontation, inviting him to join Spirit Hall without abandoning his travels. Qian Renxue then conveys her grandfather’s wish that they marry and have children. 113 114

Bibi Dong separately summons Lin Yan and attempts to recruit him into the Papal Hall faction. His Purification relieves the negative emotions caused by her Rakshasa power, beginning a dangerous and increasingly intimate relationship. Lin Yan initially conceals the details from Qian Renxue, who remains suspicious of his evasions and romantic conduct. 115 116

Bibi Dong’s affection eventually reaches 100%, granting the Sheep Talisman and Angel Right Arm Bone. Lin Yan gives her the talisman, which she demonstrates by extracting his soul and temporarily occupying his body. 125

Soul-Restoration Project and Return to the Star Dou Great Forest

The Sheep Talisman inspires Lin Yan to investigate restoring Ah Rou’s damaged soul fragment from Bibi Dong’s spirit ring. With Spirit Hall’s rare metals, he raises his crafting bench to level 7 and develops a proposed method to house and repair the soul in an independent, mobile body. The process requires sun moon divine stone, gold of life, and holy soul grass. 125 126

Xiao Wu offers to ask Da Ming and Er Ming to search for holy soul grass, while Lin Yan identifies the Lake of Life as a possible source of gold of life and Gengxin City as a potential source of rare materials. He also considers bringing Lou Gao under his control during that future trip. 126

Lin Yan leaves Bibi Dong cleansing and calming feather tokens, declines her offer of a bodyguard, and departs Spirit Hall with Xiao Wu alone. Because of his injuries and concern for their safety, he leaves Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ye Rou’er behind. His Milk Bottle-powered motorcycle carries him and Xiao Wu to the Star Dou Great Forest in under ten days. 126 127

As Xiao Wu senses Er Ming approaching, they hear a nearby complaint about a beast encountered during a commission. Lin Yan subsequently encounters Zhao Wuji and meets Shui Bing’er and Shui Yue’er again; the sisters have not yet obtained the ice-attribute spirit rings they seek. 127 128
