  • The old noble told the Emperor that the Giant Monster had trapped Kyoto and planned to eat one hundred people each day as their fear grew.
  • After fleeing citizens were killed, the old noble concluded that the open gate was a trap to leave only frightened people in the city, and the Emperor ordered scouts to seek help.
  • The Demon Army chased the scouts, and the daimyos refused to send troops, so the Emperor turned to seeking wandering heroes.
  • Two Big Monsters caught a Kyoto rider near Bamboo Forest County, where one tore off his hand and began eating him as the other charged into town.
  • Taro ran toward the Big Monster despite an old farmer's warning, picked up the rider's katana, and struck at the monster's neck.

  • The old monk told Li Qinwu that the Son of Heaven had burned records of the Imperium, adopted Buddhism as the only legal religion, and forced surviving Imperial Cult members to hide as monks.
  • The old monk led Li Qinwu through a hidden passage to an underground archive filled with books and statues of the Gene-Primarchs.
  • The old monk showed Li Qinwu a golden God-Emperor statue, and Li Qinwu mocked the statue and the monks’ claim that they had saved the gold through frugality.
  • Li Qinwu searched the preserved books for the planet’s coordinates but found none because the Son of Heaven had destroyed records and the monks had preserved no such information.
  • Li Qinwu read the dynasty’s history and learned that rulers restricted movement and loyalty, manufactured slaves, and caused famines including the Man-Made Rice Famine, Maggot Rice Incident, and Human Fertilizer Incident.

Ch. 541Electronic Storage Board STC Template

  • Genpei returned carrying the demon general’s head, and its headless body collapsed moments later.

Ch. 543The Emperor's Retainers

After slaying the demon general, Genpei became the Emperor’s retainer and promised to fight the Giant Monster the next night, while the Emperor secretly continued gathering children as sacrifices. As Genpei and his family prepared for the battle, Li Qinwu learned that surviving old-era books were kept in the Emperor’s Tenshukaku.

  • A samurai brought the demon general’s head to the Emperor, who summoned Genpei and recognized him as the village samurai he had once dismissed.
  • The Emperor made Genpei his retainer, and Genpei explained that decades of martial training and his treasured sword had enabled him to kill the demon general.

Ch. 547Three-Eyed Wizard

Li Qinwu hurried the old monk to Snow Flower Mountain to meet the Three-Eyed Wizard, brushing past a refugee slave market on the way. When the gatekeeper tried to turn him away, Li Qinwu threatened an Inquisitorial investigation, and the Wizard rushed out to welcome him.

  • Li Qinwu carried the old monk at a sprint from near Kyoto to the Snow Flower Kingdom, reaching Snow Flower Mountain in a little over five hours.
  • As they climbed the mountain, the old monk explained that the refugees outside Snow Flower City were being sold as slaves and described the Three-Eyed Wizard's powers.
  • At the cave entrance, the gatekeeper said the Three-Eyed Wizard was away, but Li Qinwu threatened him with an Inquisitorial investigation and punishment.
  • The Three-Eyed Wizard hurried out, bowed to Li Qinwu, and ushered him into the cave, while the old monk taunted the Wizard about being investigated.

Ch. 548The Origins of Big Monster

Li Qinwu secured the loyalty of the Three-Eyed Wizard’s Navigator family and learned that their planet was hidden by dense Warp Mist. The Three-Eyed Wizard described Big Monster’s seasonal appearances and disappearance, while the old monk offered a theory that the creatures were formed from the resentment of people who had starved to death.

  • Li Qinwu theatrically accused the Three-Eyed Wizard of wrongdoing, then recruited the family by promising its young Navigators a chance to guide Imperial warships.
  • The Three-Eyed Wizard gave Li Qinwu the planet’s coordinates from over 380 years earlier and explained that thick Warp Mist now hid the Astronomican.
  • The Three-Eyed Wizard said Big Monster appeared in autumn and winter to devour people, then vanished in spring and summer.
  • The Three-Eyed Wizard recounted that a captured Big Monster melted in spring, leaving an ordinary human skeleton and releasing intense human hunger and terror.

Ch. 549The Butt of Strength

Li Qinwu learned that stolen Psychic Power texts had been traced to Emperor's Castle Keep, then encountered Snow Flower Kingdom samurai enslaving refugees at the border. He slaughtered the samurai by fighting with whatever body part or weapon remained, finally killing their horned leader with a crushing butt-first leap.

  • The three-eyed wizard told Li Qinwu that Kyoto ninjas had stolen ancient Psychic Power texts and that the books were in Emperor's Castle Keep.
  • Li Qinwu and the old monk found samurai guarding bound refugees at Snow Flower Kingdom's border, and the horned daimyo's son ordered them to capture Li Qinwu as an ox.
  • The horned samurai threatened the old monk, so Li Qinwu killed ten attackers with the monk's bow and arrows.
  • Li Qinwu killed more samurai with a pole saber, a katana, his fists, and a midair split kick as the horned samurai repeatedly taunted him.
  • Li Qinwu turned and launched himself butt-first into the horned samurai, crushing his chest and killing him.
