Doflamingo expanded his influence through World Government protection, an alliance involving the Big Mom Pirates’ giantification experiments, and a proposed SMILE partnership with Gild Tesoro and other underworld leaders. Emboldened by his Shichibukai status, he attempted to raise SMILE prices for the Beasts Pirates by 20 percent. 25 26

King chose negotiation over open conflict because the Beasts Pirates still depended on Doflamingo’s SMILE supply. Jack was dispatched to Dressrosa, accompanied by Lynn, whose presence immediately unsettled Doflamingo after Viola identified him as Kaido’s adopted son and the “Demon Child.” 25 26
