Background

Tang Ya became the Tang Sect’s sole surviving descendant after the sect was destroyed and its grounds were occupied by the Iron Blood Sect. The loss remains a source of trauma; an encounter with Cyrene unexpectedly brings memories of the sect’s destruction to the surface. 6 23

She inherited the Tang Sect’s belief that Blue Silver Grass should develop through binding and poison. Before meeting Su Mu, she took pride in both this inheritance and her own Blue Silver Grass, but Su Mu’s healthy Life-attribute variant makes her question whether poison-attribute Soul Rings damaged her Martial Soul’s original potential. 12 16 23

Personality

Tang Ya is energetic, impulsive, and intensely expressive. She jumps at the chance to recruit promising people for the Tang Sect, quickly offering Su Mu the sect master position after seeing his Innate Full Soul Power and Life Blue Silver Grass. Bei Bei regularly has to restrain her overenthusiasm. 12

She is also generous and loyal toward people she accepts as friends. When Jiang Nannan’s mother becomes ill, Tang Ya promises Tang Sect support and offers financial help without hesitation. 17 18

Her greatest everyday weakness is food. Su Mu’s fried chicken immediately dispels her earlier gloom, and she repeatedly orders more food, consumes excessive amounts, and expects fried chicken as repayment for her help. 7 15 16

Devouring Blue Silver Grass

Tang Ya possesses a poison-affected Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul associated with the Devouring attribute. Her vines are visibly wrapped in black poison, contrasting sharply with Su Mu’s Life Blue Silver Grass. 6 12

Story Role / Major Arcs

Fried-Chicken Stall Customer

Tang Ya and Bei Bei become Su Mu’s first major customers. Although Cyrene’s presence briefly triggers painful memories of the Tang Sect’s destruction, Tang Ya quickly becomes enthralled by the food and orders the entire menu. 6 7

Search for Su Mu’s First Soul Ring

After learning that Su Mu needs a Soul Ring, Tang Ya immediately joins Jiang Nannan and Bei Bei in escorting him to the Star Dou Great Forest. She initially recommends the Tang Sect’s traditional Datura Snake route, but accepts Su Mu’s decision to seek a Life-attribute Soul Beast instead. 12

During the expedition, she serves as a scout and combatant, catches Su Mu with Blue Silver Grass when he falls from a cliff, and helps contain the fire used to kill the Cuscuta Rabbit that becomes his first Soul Ring. 14 15

Restorative Life Force

After Su Mu gains Blue Silver Vine Ring, Tang Ya becomes highly dependent on its restorative life force. She continuously converts newly cultivated Soul Power into life force, a change that also makes her unusually motivated to cultivate. Su Mu believes the effect may be repairing the deficiency caused by her poison-attribute Soul Ring. 16

Heaven Dou City Support

Tang Ya supports Jiang Nannan’s family crisis, assists Su Mu with permits and possible selling locations, and remains committed to making him the Tang Sect’s future leader. She also guides him through Heaven Dou City’s black market, though her description of its vendors as “legitimate businessmen” proves unreliable when Royal Guards raid the area. 18 21 23
