Huo Hai had always been proficient in the art of gu refinement. The simplest method was to let the insects devour one another; in the end, the strongest one would absorb some of the others' traits and become a Gu insect.
This method of devouring could actually be controlled. For instance, with careful cultivation, one of them could basically be ensured the final victory. Or by controlling the types of insects that devoured one another, one could ultimately control the Gu insect's abilities. Little Gold and the Star Gu had both been created this way back then, merely with spiritual energy added into the equation.
However, this method of devouring could only obtain a portion of the other party's abilities, not everything. If one wanted a perfect fusion, this method could not be used. Of course, there were occasionally accidents during Gu refinement.
Under certain special circumstances, insects might perish together, or devour each other and ultimately merge into one. But the chances of such a thing happening were simply too low, and Huo Hai had no idea what abilities the resulting insect would possess.
Later, using spiritual energy as a foundation, Huo Hai finally developed an even more special fusion method. It involved fusing different insects through a Shamanic Formation. This fusion was not devouring, but a fusion from the body all the way down to the bloodline itself.
After developing this method, Huo Hai had only tested it on ordinary Spirit Insects. He had never used it on his Main-Battle Spirit Insects. This method was not particularly stable either. Most of the time, mutations could easily occur. Even after researching it for so long, Huo Hai could not completely avoid them, so how could he dare use it on his own Spirit Insects?
But things were different now.
