Apart from the ten test subjects whose limbs had already been severed, few things on the ground remained intact after the Blazing Flame Sparrows' bombardment. Most of what remained was scattered debris and shredded flesh.
The people of the Drifting Flower Pavilion turned none of it away. With everyone's help, they soon cleared the ground completely. They even used special tools to collect the soil soaked in blood. Their movements were remarkably practiced; there was no telling how many times they had done this before.
Taking the opportunity, Huo Hai also told the pavilion master about the similar phenomenon he had encountered back at the Divine Mystery Sect.
After a long while, the pavilion master's expression grew somewhat grave. "I understand. All of you should go and rest." Something seemed to have occurred to the pavilion master, but she said nothing more. She turned and left.
As for Little Gold on his arm, lowering his sleeve was enough to hide her completely. Once Huo Hai had said everything he needed to say, he took Yun'er and the others back to his quarters. No one spoke along the way. Blood Rose had become an indispensable companion in their daily lives, and her departure left an aching emptiness in their hearts.
"Big Brother, Sister Rose will be all right, won't she?" Yun'er finally asked.
Huo Hai nodded. "Don't worry. Nothing will happen to her. Blood Rose is so clever that it's always other people who get the short end of the stick. When have you ever seen her lose out?" He spread his hands as he spoke, a peculiar expression on his face.
True enough. Thinking back to her dealings with Blood Rose, Yun'er seemed to have been the one losing out more often. Forget it. Why think so much about it?
