Background

Ji Mu is a young miss of the Ji Family, a wealthy Western Frontier Lineage that trades Spirit Stones for academy points. Unlike Huo Hai, she was raised with practical knowledge of cultivation, danger, and killing. Southern Mountain Trial

Ji Mu is the sole survivor of a group ambushed by He Wang’s forces. Cornered and nearly exhausted, she is saved when Huo Hai reveals himself and uses the Star Gu to kill He Wang’s attackers. 24 25

After the battle, she refuses to leave Huo Hai despite his repeated attempts to send her away with enough cards to pass the trial. Her decision is motivated by danger, gratitude, curiosity, and a growing sense of safety around him. 26

Discovering Huo Hai’s Secret

While traveling with Huo Hai, Ji Mu notices that he locates hidden caches of academy cards with unnatural precision. She initially suspects that he possesses a contracted spirit beast, but later learns that his supposed concealed weapons are actually the Star Gu. 27 28

Although horrified by the insects’ ability to consume corpses, she remains beside Huo Hai and concludes that his actions during her rescue show he is not malicious. 28

Huo Hai’s Killing Syndrome

Ji Mu becomes Huo Hai’s primary restraint when repeated killings push him into a bloodthirsty state. She approaches him despite his murderous aura, brings him back to awareness, and convinces him to hide and recover rather than continue fighting. 32

She remains with him in a concealed cave for two days, helps him test his recovery, and continues warning him not to kill excessively before his mental state stabilizes. 33

Deep Southern Mountain

Ji Mu accompanies Huo Hai into the most dangerous area of Southern Mountain, warning him about Spirit Bone and Spirit Practitioner Realm beasts while assisting with observation and tactical knowledge. 34 36

She witnesses Little Gold poison the Ironclad Hound King and helps Huo Hai inspect the aftermath. Huo Hai offers her one suit of armor from the Hound King’s hide; she promises to safeguard the remaining armor and arranges to purchase some of the bones through the Ji Family using academy points. 37 39

Admission to Imperial City Academy

Ji Mu exits Southern Mountain with Huo Hai and enters Imperial City Academy by submitting one hundred point cards and binding an academy identification card with blood. 41

When He Wang publicly mocks them, Ji Mu counters by revealing his ambush and his private soldiers, damaging his standing within the He Family. 42
