The little one was torn. She didn't know what to do. Below the tree, Er Dongsheng smiled up at her and beckoned her down. Her long, pointed ears twitched twice.
Should I go down? This big guy is so strong and so fierce, but he helped Lulu drive off the Velociraptors. He must be a good person! The little one bit her finger, her face a picture of indecision.
"She's pretty cute." Er Dongsheng looked up at the little one, who looked much like a human. Her skin was somewhat pale, without a single scale anywhere on her body. She wore a dusty, torn outfit of animal hide, and her big eyes stared at him without blinking.
"Big guy, you really won't eat Lulu?"
Oh, come on...
"Of course not. We're both Intelligent Species. Why would I eat you? You're so cute!"
"Really? Mama says Lulu is the cutest too!"
"Big guy, you really won't eat Lulu?"
"Little one, if you don't come down, I'm leaving. You know how dangerous the forest is, don't you?" Er Dongsheng shook his head helplessly at the Little Succubus, who was still too wary to come down, and made as if to leave.
"All right, all right, big guy! Lulu's coming down! Wait for Lulu, wait for Lulu!" The Little Succubus still hesitated, but when she saw Er Dongsheng about to go, she bit her lip and slowly climbed down.
Even off the tree, though, she followed Er Dongsheng from a distance and refused to come close. She might be small, but she was clever. She remained cautious and dared not trust him too much.
Looks like she still hasn't relaxed. Er Dongsheng made no effort to approach her. In the Abyss, Abyssal Species of different races found it hard to trust one another. Even members of the same race couldn't be trusted lightly.
He retrieved the Tutu Beast he had hidden nearby, then returned to the dead Velociraptors. Both bodies had been torn to pieces. Er Dongsheng shook his head and decided to leave them. He still had plenty of food stored in his cave and didn't need this little bit. The Abyssal Rain Season had only just ended, and this was the season of greatest abundance. He could do without them!
Carrying the Tutu Beast, Er Dongsheng headed for his cave. A tired, hungry Little Succubus trailed behind him at a distance.
"Big guy, you're leaving that food?" The little one gazed longingly at the two Velociraptors on the ground.
"I am."
"But..."
"I have plenty of food. I don't need those."
"Oh. I see!" The little one looked back at the Velociraptor corpses and wiped her mouth. After a moment's hesitation, she followed Er Dongsheng toward the cave, keeping pace a few steps behind him.
Taking a closer look at her, Er Dongsheng realized that, apart from her tail and pointed ears, the Abyssal Succubus looked almost exactly human. That matched his inherited memories, except...
Adult Abyssal Succubi have slightly dark skin and small horns on either side of their foreheads. Why doesn't she? Is it because she's still young?
Er Dongsheng looked back at the little one in surprise.
Whatever. She's definitely a Succubus! He took another look. Suddenly, his gaze sharpened!
"Don't move!"
"Huh?" The little one stared at Er Dongsheng in confusion.
Whoosh! Er Dongsheng hurled the Tutu Beast toward the Little Succubus and charged after it.
"Ah!" Seeing the big guy rush at her, the little one froze in terror, then burst into tears.
"Waaah! Don't eat Lulu! Don't eat Lulu! Lulu doesn't taste good!"
"Waaah! Mama, where are you? Save Lulu! The big guy's going to eat Lulu!"
Er Dongsheng glanced helplessly at the Little Succubus sobbing beside him and reached out to pat her head.
"All right, get behind me. There's danger here!"
With that, Er Dongsheng ignored the still-crying little one and stared gravely at the grass ahead.
"Huh...?" The Little Succubus parted the fingers covering her eyes just enough to peek through. Seeing the big guy standing in front of her, she tilted her head in confusion, her pointed ears swiveling back and forth before giving two quick twitches.
The big guy isn't going to eat Lulu?
"Listen to me. It's dangerous here. Move back!"
Er Dongsheng didn't need to explain further. A monster had leaped out of the grass in front of him, and Little Lulu had seen it. Realizing it had been right behind her moments ago, she went pale and hurried back several steps.
"Damn it, what's with these past few days? Usually I can go a year or more without seeing more than a few kinds of Abyssal Species. Why have they all shown up at once?"
Er Dongsheng kept a wary eye on the newly appeared Abyssal Species, searching his memories for what it was.
Before long, his expression darkened. He studied the Abyssal Species again, especially its forehead. When he spotted something unmistakable there, his face grew darker still.
"Trouble. I'm in real trouble this time!"
"Fuck. Looks like I'll have to fight for my life!"
"Fuck, is that thing even an Abyssal Species? Shit. Turns out if I don't court death, I really will die!"
He turned and shouted at the little one, who still stood dazed nearby. "Go! Hurry! Get as far away as you can and hide in a tree!"
"If I die, run for it!"
Once he said it, his restless mind suddenly settled. The creature was here. He would give it everything he had and kill it, even if it cost him his life.
Er Dongsheng knew that running from something like this was useless. There was only one choice: fight!
"Then come on. Fight!"
Boom!
The two slammed into each other.
"Damn it! If I survive this, Abyssal Will, you'd better be ready for me to fuck your whole family!"
