History
Fuxi brought the Human Race to the Great Wilderness and protected it from powerful demon kings, while ordinary humans had to survive largely through their own efforts. Nüwa is worshipped as humanity's creator and Holy Mother 1 23 67.
The Great Wilderness's human lord dispersed people into smaller tribes after conflict arose in concentrated settlements. The strongest remained in the central region to resist the Demon Race, but many scattered tribes struggled to survive; Feng Xu later noted that fewer than a hundred of more than three hundred tribes in one area were still known 31 45.
Over the following decade, farming and trade led by the Wind-Fire Tribe connected the eastern tribes and supported population growth. Five major tribes then merged as the Eastern Wilderness Tribe, with Vermilion Ridge as its central city 42 47.
The Heavenly Demon Wolf King later sacrificed a gathering of demons to advance and declared that his clan would rule the Great Wilderness Mountains. After his death from Baleful Qi, the humans assembled an army of 50,000 to campaign against the Heavenly Wolf Demon Race 67 75.
A century after the clearance of Heavenly Wolf Mountain, the Great Wilderness's human population had passed five million. Its agriculture and industry had expanded, though settlements remained dispersed across the immense region 76.
