Arc 3The Baleful Qi War

Feng Xu strengthened the Central Wilderness, uncovered the Baleful Qi conspiracy, and infiltrated the Heavenly Wolf Demon Race, where Commander Ling tried to forge a powerful treasure. After Feng Xu survived the sealed Baleful Qi and escaped the Mountain God, he helped unite the Human Race for war against the wolves.

  • Feng Xu built a Nursery and workshops, expanded farming, and helped Yunfeng investigate the Baleful Qi spreading through the Central Wilderness.
  • Feng Xu gathered more than twenty thousand children, proposed reforms for the tribe, and used rumors and public speeches to build support while searching for the conspirators.
  • Feng Xu and Iron Pillar investigated the demons and learned that the horde had gathered at Heavenly Wolf Mountain for the Sky Wolf Demon King's birthday.
  • Commander Ling revealed himself as the Wolf King and used a Five-Element Sealing-Killing Formation to drain the demon horde, then enlisted Feng Xu to build a Blood Pool and forge seventy-two Blood Sabers.
  • Feng Xu secretly infused the Blood Sabers with Baleful Qi and warned Yunfeng to prepare for battle, while Ling led him to sealed Spatial Rifts to gather more qi for the weapon.
  • Feng Xu entered a seal containing living Baleful Qi, survived its attack with Iron Pillar, and used the Jade Disc of Creation to complete his Nine-Turn Baleful Core, exhausting his Merit Points in the process.
  • The Mountain God captured Feng Xu and Iron Pillar but released them after Feng Xu revealed his core and offered the Blood Sabers for safekeeping.
  • Feng Xu and Iron Pillar spread word of the Wolf King's crimes, rescued the White Ape and Cow Demon, and joined fifty thousand humans marching toward the Heavenly Wolf Demon Race.
Chapters 51–75 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 51Farming Maniac

Feng Xu helped the Central Wilderness Tribe prepare farmland, gather medicinal herbs, and build a Blood Pool while discussing food supplies and a possible Dharma Artifact trade. After completing the pool and drawing Battle Marks on Qu Shan, Feng Xu left him to attempt a breakthrough from Heavenly Immortal to True Immortal.

  • Iron Pillar led Feng Xu to a mountain basin, and they cleared and plowed nearly three hundred mu for farming.
  • Feng Xu learned that the Central Wilderness Tribe's grain supply would not feed all forty thousand people, and he gathered medicinal herbs with Dashan.
  • The hunting team returned with powerful Fierce Beasts, and Feng Xu selected some for the Blood Pool while asking Qu Shan to discuss trading the rest for Dharma Artifacts with the Eastern Wilderness.
  • Feng Xu claimed the Eastern Wilderness could mass-produce Dharma Artifacts without Artifact Refining practitioners, and Qu Shan agreed to consult Lord about a trade.
  • Feng Xu prepared the Blood Pool and drew Battle Marks on Qu Shan that inscribed two cultivation arts.
  • After the Blood Pool stabilized, Qu Shan meditated beside it, entered the pool, and began attempting a breakthrough.

Ch. 52Nursery

Feng Xu planned to give Battle Marks to trusted people and organize the tribe’s neglected children into a Nursery. After learning that Iron Pillar’s System Advisor linked Iron Pillar’s cultivation to his own, Feng Xu continued cultivating and led the construction of the Nursery, which was nearly furnished when Qu Shan emerged from seclusion.

  • Feng Xu persuaded Yunfeng to let him draw Battle Marks for trusted confidants and children, then explained his plan to manage the tribe’s neglected children.
  • Feng Xu learned that Iron Pillar’s System Advisor had tied Iron Pillar’s strength and techniques to Feng Xu’s cultivation, while allowing Iron Pillar to remain one minor realm ahead.
  • Feng Xu considered the arrangement and continued cultivating, reasoning that the Merit Mall and his prospects of becoming Human Ancestor still benefited him.
  • Feng Xu and Iron Pillar gathered workers to repair houses and build a Nursery at the tribe’s center, attracting extra laborers by serving meals.
  • Feng Xu, Iron Pillar, and the workers built the Nursery and began making beds, desks, and benches; Qu Shan emerged from seclusion after more than forty days.

Ch. 53Blood Pool Trade

Feng Xu helped expand the Nursery and establish workshops while the Central Wilderness Tribe prepared to trade access to its Blood Pool. After Commander Ling supplied a powerful Fierce Beast, Feng Xu strengthened the Blood Pool and began refining a Dharma Treasure as Ling’s three chosen people entered it.

  • Feng Xu and Iron Pillar gathered children for the Nursery, while Qu Shan told Feng Xu that the lord had approved a Dharma Artifact trade.
  • Feng Xu established pottery, bamboo-weaving, brick-making, and clothing workshops as the tribe’s autumn harvest and work expanded.
  • Commander Ling visited Yunfeng and Feng Xu, offering a Mid True Immortal Fierce Beast’s corpse in exchange for letting three people cultivate in the Blood Pool.
  • Feng Xu set a sixty-day limit for Ling’s chosen cultivators, extracted the beast’s Inner Core and blood essence, and helped Yunfeng replenish the Blood Pool.
  • Feng Xu entered seclusion to refine a Dharma Treasure, and five days later Ling’s three people began cultivating in the Blood Pool.

Ch. 54Seven-Turn Baleful Core

Feng Xu refined the Fierce Beast’s tampered Baleful Core into a Seven-Turn Baleful Core, forged several Dharma Treasures, and warned Yunfeng that someone might be targeting him. As the tribe prepared to investigate Baleful Qi after spring planting and train an army, a shadow slipped away into the night.

  • Feng Xu refined the Fierce Beast’s Baleful Qi despite its violent backlash and completed a Seven-Turn Baleful Core.
  • Feng Xu recovered, forged three Dharma Treasures from the beast’s remains, and strengthened the Dragon-Snake Bow and Mysterious Feather Arrow.
  • Feng Xu warned Yunfeng that the Baleful Core had been tampered with and urged him to inspect anything sent by others; Yunfeng planned an investigation after spring planting.
  • Yunfeng asked Feng Xu to join the investigation and approved Iron Pillar’s plan to recruit and train an army.
  • Feng Xu returned to the Nursery and workshop, began teaching the children, and learned Iron Pillar’s crops had yielded nearly twelve thousand jin per mu.
  • A shadow quietly left the settlement and disappeared into the darkness.

Ch. 55Baleful Demon Attack

Feng Xu gathered children from the commanders’ territories while investigating the spread of Baleful Qi and mapping the region for future reforms. After a Baleful deer and Jade Toad attacked him, Commander Zeng rescued him, and Feng Xu absorbed the beasts’ Baleful Qi before collecting their corpses.

  • Feng Xu persuaded Commander Zheng to send the local children to Lord’s territory and delivered him one million jin of grain.
  • Feng Xu questioned Zheng about border activity and visitors, but found no clues about how Baleful Qi had reached the rear.
  • Feng Xu visited the commanders’ territories, gathered children, and secretly mapped the land while investigating the Baleful Qi outbreaks.
  • Feng Xu stayed behind in the southeastern region and searched a valley for traces of Baleful Beasts.
  • A Baleful deer and a Jade Toad attacked Feng Xu, and Commander Zeng rushed in and killed both beasts.
  • Feng Xu absorbed the Baleful Qi from the beasts, found that his Baleful Core had not changed, and collected their corpses.

Ch. 56Cast a long line to catch a big fish

Feng Xu and Commander Zeng investigated the Baleful Fiends and uncovered a secret realm where conspirators were experimenting on Fierce Beasts. The suspects escaped, but Feng Xu and Zeng subdued a Baleful Fiend and planned to let the discovery build support for the lord’s coming investigation.

  • Feng Xu refined two True Immortal Fierce Beasts into medicine, gave bottles to Commander Zeng and the lord, and kept one for himself.
  • Feng Xu told Commander Zeng that Baleful Qi could strengthen its user through a dangerous process, but warned that the intelligent, vile qi could turn people into puppets.
  • Two conspirators discussed Feng Xu’s resistance to Baleful Qi and decided to capture him, then fled their secret realm after hearing him outside and released the sealed Baleful Qi into caged Fierce Beasts.
  • Feng Xu and Commander Zeng entered the realm, found ten True Immortal Baleful Fiends, and waited outside until the beasts’ battle had ended.
  • Feng Xu gave Commander Zeng the Heavenly Net and Earthly Web, allowing Zeng to subdue a three-headed Black Tiger while Feng Xu absorbed its Baleful Qi.
  • Feng Xu and Commander Zeng found the realm’s other exit blocked, lost the suspects’ trail, and agreed to prepare for the lord’s investigation.

Ch. 57Future Plans

Feng Xu completed his visits to the Great Wilderness commanders, gathered the children in the Lord’s territory, and mapped the Baleful Qi hideouts, which led him to suspect Commander Mang. He taught Yunfeng the Dao De Jing and outlined plans to establish order, education, rites, and stronger institutions across the tribe.

  • Feng Xu and the others visited Commander Mang, where Feng Xu rested for two days before taking the gathered children onward to Commander Jing’s territory.
  • Feng Xu completed visits to all fifteen commanders and brought more than twenty thousand children to the Lord’s territory, where the Nursery was expanded to accommodate them.
  • Feng Xu mapped the Baleful Qi hideouts and, based on their distribution and reports about the commanders, identified Commander Mang as a possible culprit.
  • Feng Xu explained the Dao De Jing and his ideas about morality, rites, and law to Yunfeng, who bowed to him and asked for guidance.
  • Feng Xu gave Yunfeng the Dao De Jing and proposed a three-stage plan to strengthen the tribe’s social order, education, economy, rites, and government.

Ch. 58Preaching

Feng Xu preached to the Central Wilderness Tribe, won the people’s trust, and was named Sage as Yunfeng prepared a campaign against the Baleful Qi. Facing a coming food shortage, Feng Xu planned to travel to the Eastern Wilderness in spring to bring back grain, accompanied by Iron Pillar and others.

  • Feng Xu secretly redirected rumors about himself toward the chief commanders, and the rumors spread until people suspected them of cultivating with Baleful Qi and plotting to divide the tribe.
  • Feng Xu preached for three days, answered the people’s questions, and saw their distrust of him give way to admiration; Yunfeng named him Sage.
  • Feng Xu told the gathering that the Lord would address the Baleful Qi after spring planting and urged anyone involved to confess and report others.
  • Feng Xu and Yunfeng planned to clear more land as they faced a food shortage before the next harvest.
  • Feng Xu decided to travel to the Eastern Wilderness in early spring for grain, and Iron Pillar, Dashan, and others were set to accompany him.

Ch. 59Encountering the White Ape Again

Feng Xu returned to the East Wilderness Tribe with Iron Pillar and Dashan, defeated the White Ape again, and arranged grain support for the Central Wilderness. Before leaving Vermilion Ridge, he inspected its facilities and left the Dao De Jing for Feng Yuqi.

  • Feng Xu explained that the East Wilderness had enough grain to spare, and Iron Pillar and Dashan traveled with him toward the East Wilderness Tribe.
  • Feng Xu fought the White Ape and defeated it, then urged it to consider taking human form to improve its cultivation.
  • Feng Xu and the others reached Vermilion Ridge, where Feng Sui allocated thirteen million jin of grain to Dashan for the Central Wilderness.
  • Iron Pillar ordered every dish on the cafeteria menu, while Feng Xu inspected the Dharma Artifact factory and identified improvements.
  • Feng Xu left the Dao De Jing on Feng Yuqi's desk, and she recognized his handwriting and arranged for the teachers to copy it.

Ch. 60Confession

Feng Xu confessed that he had been the unwitting recipient of Iron Pillar’s system, then taught him how to cultivate. As the Lord and Deputy Commander Chen cleared hidden Baleful Qi sites, a secret experiment produced a monstrous Fusion Baleful Fiend bearing Captain Shi’s face, which turned on Commander Mang and Chen.

  • Feng Xu confronted Iron Pillar about his system, and Iron Pillar explained that the System Advisor had chosen him and that he did not know how to cultivate.
  • Feng Xu taught Iron Pillar cultivation in a cave, and Iron Pillar mastered the basics after three days.
  • The Lord and Deputy Commander Chen searched for and destroyed hidden Baleful Qi nests across the Central Great Wilderness, unsettling local commanders who wondered how the Lord knew their locations.
  • A shadowy commander forced Captain Shi into a Baleful Qi-corrupted giant beast as the first successful human-fusion experiment.
  • Commander Mang and Deputy Commander Chen investigated a surge of Baleful Qi and saw a giant three-headed tiger with Captain Shi’s face emerge from the earth.
  • The Fusion Baleful Fiend complained of pain and resentment, then invited Mang and Chen to merge with it.

Ch. 61Dual-Line Battle

The commanders battled the Baleful Fiends as their hidden strength and the threat of a wider outbreak became clear. Chen used a Spirit Treasure to strip a Fusion Baleful Fiend of its Baleful Qi, while Yunfeng fought Commander Zheng and left him split apart, his own aura rising to the peak of the True Immortal stage.

  • In the southeastern Central Wilderness, Chen, Mang, Jing, Ling, Gong, Leng, and Sheng attacked a Fusion Baleful Fiend, but its Baleful Qi and rapid healing thwarted them.
  • In the western Central Wilderness, Yunfeng fought Commander Zheng, who revealed himself as the mastermind behind the Baleful Qi, while Peng and Hong attacked the lava beast.
  • Baleful Fiends emerged across the southern regions, throwing the Central Wilderness into chaos, as Feng Xu told Iron Pillar that he had prepared something to counter the Baleful Qi.
  • Chen used the Heavenly Net and Earthly Web to restrain the Baleful Qi around a Fusion Baleful Fiend, and the commanders defeated it; Ling then accused Mang of involvement, but Chen stopped their argument.
  • Yunfeng absorbed Baleful Qi with the White Bone Whip and cleaved Commander Zheng's giant body in two, preventing it from healing and raising Yunfeng's aura to the peak of the True Immortal stage.

Ch. 62Feng Xu's Retribution

Feng Xu helped Yunfeng prepare to resist Baleful Qi and investigated the remaining forces behind the outbreak, while the Human Race planned its recovery. He spent the months before winter refining Dharma Artifacts without a break, reflecting that the workload was his retribution for making others work overtime.

  • Feng Xu refined the White Bone Whip to absorb Baleful Qi and taught Yunfeng the Nine-Turn Origin Art so he could control it.
  • After the Central Wilderness dens were cleared, Yunfeng called the high commanders to discuss territory redistribution, but Feng Xu warned that another commander might still be behind the Baleful Qi.
  • Yunfeng said the evidence against Commander Zheng had been destroyed, and Feng Xu advised announcing that the disturbance was over while they continued to investigate.
  • Yunfeng tasked Feng Xu with producing Dharma Artifacts for a martial arts tournament, letting him keep the excess materials.
  • Feng Xu lectured, inspected workshops, and refined artifacts every day until winter arrived, then considered his exhausting schedule repayment for making others work overtime.

Ch. 63Dividing the Territory

Feng Xu helped Yunfeng arrange dining halls and negotiate how Nurturing Mountain’s children would be divided among the commanders, weakening their potential alliance. After the commanders settled their territories, Qu Shan reported that the demons had withdrawn westward toward the Heavenly Wolf Demon Race, leaving Yunfeng to investigate a possible coming battle.

  • Feng Xu proposed token-based dining halls that offered discounted meals to workers, and Yunfeng approved the plan.
  • Feng Xu and Yunfeng negotiated with the commanders, who accepted that Nurturing Mountain would raise children until age sixteen before they could be taken away only if they agreed.
  • Yunfeng redistributed the Central Wilderness territories among the thirteen remaining commanders, and the commanders argued for days before finalizing their locations.
  • Qu Shan reported that the western demons and other powerful demons were heading toward the Heavenly Wolf Demon Race.
  • Yunfeng told the commanders to return to their territories while he sent people to investigate, promising to lead the charge if a great battle came.

Ch. 64The Demon King's Birthday Banquet

Feng Xu and Iron Pillar investigated the mass withdrawal of demons from the border and learned that they were traveling to the Sky Wolf Demon King’s birthday banquet. They returned with the news, while White Ape invited Feng Xu to join him later.

  • Iron Pillar dragged Feng Xu from his cabin to meet Yunfeng and Qu Shan, who asked how the Human Race could prepare for a possible war with the Heavenly Demon Wolf Race.
  • Feng Xu advised them to learn the demons’ motives and divide them with benefits, then lent Yunfeng the Heavenly Net and Earthly Web.
  • Iron Pillar volunteered to investigate the border with Feng Xu, and they joined Chen and Dashan to watch the demon horde heading toward the Western Wilderness.
  • Feng Xu and Iron Pillar transformed into apes and questioned the demons, most of whom did not know why they were traveling.
  • Feng Xu learned from White Ape that the Sky Wolf Demon King had emerged from seclusion and that the horde was going to celebrate his birthday and hear his cultivation insights.
  • Feng Xu returned to Human Race territory and shared the news with the others.

Ch. 65Heavenly Wolf Mountain

Feng Xu and Iron Pillar infiltrated the demon procession to investigate the Heavenly Demon Wolf Race’s ambitions and entered a tournament at Heavenly Wolf Mountain. Iron Pillar defeated his first opponent, securing the right to continue fighting for a place at the banquet.

  • Deputy Commander Chen sent Feng Xu and Iron Pillar to gather information among the demons, warning them to stay away from the heart of demon territory.
  • Feng Xu and Iron Pillar disguised themselves with simulated demonic auras, met the White Ape, and traveled with him to Heavenly Wolf Mountain.
  • Feng Xu secretly mapped the outskirts of Heavenly Wolf Mountain, where the group learned that demons below True Immortal had to fight for one hundred banquet places.
  • Iron Pillar entered an arena and faced a swift Mid Heavenly Immortal Cat Demon armed with Cold Moon Claws.
  • Iron Pillar transformed into a Giant Ape, overwhelmed the Cat Demon with a flurry of blows, and took his Dharma Artifact.

Ch. 66Fighting Makes Friends

Iron Pillar won bouts and recruited the Cow Demon, while Feng Xu discovered that the banquet beside Jadewater Lake was enclosed by a lethal formation. The group failed to leave and suspected the Wolf King had trapped the gathered demons.

  • Iron Pillar defeated the Cow Demon, then welcomed him into the group after the two became friendly.
  • Feng Xu defeated the Cow Demon in a strength contest, establishing the group's order as Iron Pillar, Feng Xu, the Cow Demon, and the White Ape.
  • Iron Pillar won through his eighth bout, then deliberately lost the ninth and entered the banquet with the other successful contestants.
  • At the banquet, Feng Xu noticed a formation sealing and annihilating everything inside, while the Wolf King was conspicuously absent.
  • Feng Xu and the others tried to leave, but guards refused to let them pass, so Feng Xu considered asking the Giant Turtle on Lakeheart Island for help.

Ch. 67Blood Sacrifice of the Demon Horde

Feng Xu warned Dark Earth that the Heavenly Demon Wolf Clan had hidden a formation on Lakeheart Island, but the Sky Wolf Demon King activated it and sacrificed the gathered demons to increase his power. After revealing that he was the real Commander Ling, the Wolf King spared Feng Xu and his companions and explained how he had infiltrated the Human Race.

  • Feng Xu and his companions reached Lakeheart Island and warned Dark Earth about the Heavenly Demon Wolf Clan’s hidden Five-Element Sealing-Killing Formation.
  • The Sky Wolf Demon King activated the formation, trapped the demons, revealed that he was Commander Ling, and killed the Netherworld Serpent King.
  • The Wolf King defeated the Bear King and subdued Dark Earth while the formation drained the demon horde’s vital essence into him.
  • The Wolf King advanced to Late-Stage Mysterious Immortal, spared Feng Xu and his companions, and brought them to his Cave Abode.
  • The Wolf King told Feng Xu that he had entered Human Race territory as Commander Ling and explained that Fuxi only intervened against powerful demons.

Ch. 68The Sky Wolf Demon King's Ambition

Feng Xu agreed to examine Commander Ling’s treasures and help with a Blood Pool and a matched set of Dharma Treasures, while privately planning how to survive the Demon King’s control. After inspecting Ling’s vast collection, Feng Xu considered making an inferior substitute for the Seventy-Two Profound Truth Swords.

  • Commander Ling proposed that humans submit to demon rule and asked Feng Xu to help build a Blood Pool and refine formation-compatible treasures that absorbed Baleful Qi.
  • Feng Xu accepted the requests conditionally, examined Ling’s treasury, and received three days to assess the materials.
  • Feng Xu asked two Heavenly Wolf guards to gather supplies, then met with Iron Pillar, White Ape, and Cow Demon to urge them to stay united.
  • Feng Xu warned his companions that Ling’s talk of coexistence concealed his own interests, and Iron Pillar and Cow Demon disagreed about whether survival or dignity mattered more.
  • Feng Xu examined Ling’s collected treasures and considered refining an inferior substitute for the Seventy-Two Profound Truth Swords.

Ch. 69A Calculated Move

Feng Xu forged seventy-two Blood Sabers for Ling while secretly preparing them to turn against their wielder and warning the Human Race to prepare for battle. As the sabers took shape amid ominous phenomena, Feng Xu began questioning Ling about the source of the Baleful Qi.

  • Feng Xu began building a Blood Pool on Lakeheart Island, using the Demon Kings' blood essence and asking the Wolf King for forty percent of their meat for the Human Race.
  • The Wolf King agreed to give the meat and told his guards that he intended to live alongside the Human Race but planned to kill Feng Xu after the Dharma Treasure was finished.
  • Yu informed Ling that Bai Hao, who had been raised by Feng Xu, was the wolf who had left home, and Ling disowned him after learning Feng Xu had called him a household servant.
  • Feng Xu persuaded Ling to let him forge seventy-two Blood Sabers, secretly planning to infuse them with Baleful Qi and resentment so they would turn on anyone unable to control them.
  • Feng Xu spent six months refining materials, secretly kept some for himself, and used a message talisman to warn Yunfeng that the Human Race should prepare for battle.
  • After another six months at the Blood Pool, the Seventy-Two Blood Sabers took shape beneath fierce clouds and black lightning, and Feng Xu prepared to ask Ling how the Demon Kings had found Baleful Qi.

Ch. 70Great Wilderness Mountain God

Ling brought Feng Xu and Iron Pillar to a Baleful-Sealing Site so Feng Xu could draw out Baleful Qi for refining Blood Sabers, while Ling kept the Mountain God occupied. The Mountain God confronted Ling over the seals, and their battle began with Ling's strike failing to slow him.

  • Ling explained that the Mountain God had sealed Spatial Rifts and the Baleful Qi that poured from them, then brought Feng Xu and Iron Pillar to one of the sealing sites.
  • Feng Xu drew Baleful Qi from the soil into the Blood Sabers, and his Seven-Turn Baleful Core easily suppressed a wisp that entered his body.
  • Ling sensed the Mountain God moving and ordered Wu to take Feng Xu and Iron Pillar to other sites while he went to intercept the Mountain God.
  • Ling told the Mountain God that Feng Xu could handle the sealed Baleful Qi, but the Mountain God refused to trust him and charged toward the sealing sites.
  • Ling attacked with his Blood Saber, but the Mountain God restored the severed peak on his back and continued forward.

Ch. 71Not Enough Baleful Qi?

Ling fought the Mountain God while Wu and Feng Xu refined the Baleful Qi into Blood Sabers, but the available supply fell far short of Ling’s goal. Ling entered a Spatial Rift with Feng Xu to seek more Baleful Qi, and they emerged in a strange land dominated by a towering tree.

  • Ling attacked the Mountain God with blade energies and Baleful Qi, but the Mountain God resisted and continued toward the Baleful-Sealing Sites.
  • Wu and Feng Xu found that the cleared Baleful Qi could refine only two of the seventy-two Blood Sabers, while the Mountain God realized Ling was forging a treasure and tried to stop him.
  • Ling ordered Wu to watch Iron Pillar, then took Feng Xu to a Spatial Rift and drew out more Baleful Qi, which Feng Xu used to refine two additional sabers.
  • Ling entered the Spatial Rift with Feng Xu, and they awoke in a strange place where a giant tree rose above a distant mountain.

Ch. 72Sealed

Feng Xu and his companions discovered that Jianmu suppressed vast quantities of Baleful Qi and found a powerful seal near its roots. Ling, convinced the seal was a test from the Great Dao, sent Feng Xu inside first, leaving him trapped beyond the barrier.

  • Ling suspected the enormous tree was Jianmu and led the group deeper into the secret realm to find the source of the Baleful Qi.
  • Feng Xu and Iron Pillar reached the tree’s roots, where Feng Xu sensed something extraordinary sealed beneath the mountains and warned Iron Pillar of the danger.
  • Feng Xu identified an invisible seal holding vast Baleful Qi and suspected Lord Fuxi had created it.
  • Feng Xu explained that the seal drew in anything whose Baleful Qi it sensed, but admitted he did not know how anyone could escape once inside.
  • Ling ignored Wu’s advice to retreat and ordered Feng Xu to enter first and refine the artifact.
  • Feng Xu released his Baleful Qi, activated the seal, and was transported inside.

Ch. 73Nine-Turn Baleful Core

Feng Xu and Iron Pillar were trapped inside the seal when Ling’s attempt to refine the Baleful Qi awakened it, leading to Ling’s death and a violent blast. After the Baleful Qi overwhelmed them, Feng Xu completed the Nine-Turn Baleful Core with help from the Jade Disc of Creation, but discovered that his Merit Points had vanished.

  • Feng Xu warned Iron Pillar and Ling that the Baleful Qi inside the seal was dangerous, but Ling cautiously began refining it.
  • The living Baleful Qi attacked Ling, and he tried to take Feng Xu and Iron Pillar with him by self-destructing; Feng Xu shielded them while Iron Pillar rushed to carry Ling away.
  • The blast weakened the seal and engulfed Feng Xu and Iron Pillar in Baleful Qi, forcing them to draw it into their bodies and leaving them unconscious.
  • A black-and-white-robed man noticed the two were in danger but hesitated when he saw the Heaven-Hanging Ruler, which restored their bodies and Primordial Spirits with Merit light.
  • Feng Xu used the Jade Disc of Creation’s Dao resonance to complete the Nine-Turn Baleful Core, which absorbed all the Baleful Qi, and he stored it in his dantian.
  • Feng Xu checked the Heaven-Hanging Ruler in the Merit Mall and discovered that his Merit Points had fallen to zero.

Ch. 74Leaving the secret realm

Feng Xu and Iron Pillar escaped the sealed realm after finding Hou imprisoned beneath Jianmu, then faced the Mountain God in the Great Wilderness. Feng Xu left the Seventy-Two Blood Sabers with the Mountain God and departed with Iron Pillar as the balance of power shifted toward the human race.

  • Fuxi recognized Feng Xu's Measuring Heaven Ruler as a merit treasure and sent power into the seal.
  • Feng Xu and Iron Pillar found Hou sealed beneath the secret realm and were suddenly transported outside.
  • They discovered Wu's corpse and were captured by the Mountain God, who questioned them about the Sky Wolf Demon King and the sealed realm.
  • Feng Xu revealed his baleful core to show the danger of harming him and offered the Seventy-Two Blood Sabers for the Mountain God to seal away.
  • The Mountain God let Feng Xu and Iron Pillar leave and reflected that the human race might become the Great Wilderness's new master.

Ch. 75Struggle for the Great Wilderness

Feng Xu and Yunfeng prepared the Human Race to attack the weakened Heavenly Wolf Demon Race, using propaganda and alliances to strengthen their cause. As a fifty-thousand-strong army marched toward the demons, Kunpeng learned that the Sky Wolf Demon King had died from Baleful Qi and recognized the Human Race's unusual potential.

  • Feng Xu advised Yunfeng to fight the Heavenly Wolf Demon Race indirectly by spreading word of its crimes and the Sky Wolf Demon King's fate, and Yunfeng agreed to the plan.
  • Yunfeng contacted Human Race tribes, while Feng Xu and Iron Pillar spread rumors; Feng Xi escorted food and weapons from the Eastern Wilderness.
  • Feng Xu and Iron Pillar rescued White Ape and Cow Demon, and Iron Pillar later made Cow Demon plow fields and bring more oxen to help the Human Race.
  • After spring planting, fifty thousand humans marched toward the Heavenly Wolf Demon Race to decide the Human Race's future in the Great Wilderness.
  • Wu Hou reported to Kunpeng that the Sky Wolf Demon King had died from Baleful Qi, and Kunpeng concluded that the Human Race had greater potential than he had expected.
