Ordinary Soul Masters are constrained by established Soul Ring age limits. Qian Daoliu identifies roughly four hundred years as the normal limit for a first ring, while Yu Xiaogang cites 764 years as the maximum for a second ring 12 27.

Whale Rubber

Whale Rubber improves physical constitution and raises the Soul Ring age a Soul Master can withstand. Its effects become stronger with age, though Ten Thousand Year Whale Rubber can cause dangerous yang-energy buildup and agitation 9.

• Ling Jing consumes Thousand-Year Whale Rubber before his first Soul Ring hunt, enabling him to safely absorb a 780-year first ring 9 12.
• Qian Daoliu expects this preparation to make a Thousand-Year second ring and a possible Ten Thousand Year fourth ring attainable for Ling Jing 9.
• Deteriorated or blackened Whale Rubber has greatly reduced medicinal potency 9.

Immortal Herbs and Body Tempering

Ling Jing consumes the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass and Infernal Delicate Apricot to temper his body, then refines Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew to improve his spiritual power 31 33 34.

• His strengthened body allows him to seek a third ring from a seven- or eight-thousand-year Soul Beast, though a Ten Thousand Year third ring remains beyond reach 35.
• Physical strength helps endure ring energy, while spiritual power is necessary to resist the soul shock associated with Ten Thousand Year Soul Beasts 31.

Mirror Image Proliferation

Ling Jing’s first Soul Ring comes from an Ice-Pattern Mirror Beast and grants a clone-producing Soul Skill 12.

• Creates a clone with 70% of Ling Jing’s original strength.
• The clone can be dismissed voluntarily.
• It disappears after receiving fatal damage.
• The number of available clones increases as Ling Jing becomes stronger 12.
• Ling Jing can assign copied Martial Souls to his clones, allowing his true body and clone to use different Martial Souls simultaneously 21.

Ten Thousand Shadows, Thousand Bodies

Ling Jing’s second Soul Ring comes from a Mutated Illusion-Covering Mirror Fox 21 22.

• Creates up to five mirror clones at once.
• Each clone possesses 60% of Ling Jing’s combat strength and lasts five minutes.
• The clones can coordinate Soul Skills and instantly exchange positions.
• These clones cannot directly copy other Martial Souls, but can use Mirror Beast Emperor Soul Skills—including Mirror Image Proliferation—to create further layers of clones 22.
• The skill consumes a moderate amount of Soul Power; Soul Skills used by the generated clones do not consume the main body’s Soul Power 22.

Thousand Currents Illusory Realm

Ling Jing’s third Soul Ring comes from a Flowing Shadow Azure Wolf 37 39.

• Creates numerous distorted mirror images.
• Interferes with an opponent’s senses and spiritual perception.
• Can confuse enemies and disrupt their Soul Skills.
• Becomes more effective when Ling Jing and his clones activate it together 39.

Notable Ring Events

• Ling Jing’s first-ring hunt is personally overseen by Qian Daoliu, Qian Xunji, and Azure Luan Douluo because of the potential of the Mirror Beast Emperor Martial Soul 10 12.
• Qian Daoliu and Azure Luan Douluo reject a newly hundred-year-old Ice-Pattern Mirror Beast despite its compatibility, judging its age too low for Ling Jing’s first ring 10 11.
• Ling Jing’s second ring allows him to pair the Seraphim Martial Soul in his main body with Bibi Dong’s Death Spider Emperor in a clone 21.
• Bibi Dong initially seeks a genuine Hundred-Thousand-Year eighth ring, but Ling Jing persuades her to target the approximately sixty-thousand-year Dark Demon Evil God Tiger instead 45.
