Enforcers and Law Enforcers

Aurora Domain Enforcers follow the War God Path. After three years of formal service, an Enforcer may enter the Martial Way Ancient Treasury; passing its trials can lead to Law Enforcer status. 18

The system also recognizes rare cases of God’s Blessing, in which a God Path spontaneously chooses an individual without the ordinary Treasury process. 18

Third District

• The Third District headquarters is housed in a conspicuous glass-domed building and displays a black flag marked by two overlapping cyan six-pointed starbursts. 7 17
• Enforcers wear conspicuous black-and-red uniforms; Law Enforcers wear black coats marked with silver patterns indicating their standing. 3 7 10
• Following Ma Zhong’s failed rebellion, Han Meng killed Ma Zhong, two other Law Enforcers, and more than fifty Enforcers tied to them. Only Han Meng and the Second-Mark Law Enforcer Xi Renjie remained in the district afterward. 50

Duties and Procedures

Calamity Response

• Enforcers investigate suspected Ash Realm Convergences, establish cordons around affected sites, and question people found near them. 3
• Witnesses are ordered not to spread information regarding Calamities or the Ash Realm; investigators record identities and addresses under confidentiality regulations. 3
• The Calamity Bell warns the public of a Gray Realm Convergence or Calamity intrusion. Three chimes preceded the Third District’s complete lockdown. 7
• During a lockdown, residents are instructed to report unnatural roads or buildings, strange creatures, and abnormal human behavior. 7
• Enforcers classify Calamities from Level One to Level Nine. Level Nine is designated World-Ending. 21

Detection and Investigation

• The Calamity Pointer detects Calamity fluctuations and helps assess their severity. It is treated as highly valuable equipment reserved for Law Enforcers. 3
• When the Pointer reacted to the anomaly near the Mass Grave, it swept across its scale and exploded, prompting fears of either an unusual Calamity or a World-Ending-class presence. 3 7
• Investigators search damaged areas for Calamity residue, including “Calamity hairs” and signs of a Calamity Domain, an area in which a Calamity’s power distorts reality. 21

Authority

• Enforcers may require civilians to cooperate with investigations and may use force against those who refuse, as confirmed by Qian Fan during the Ice Spring Street inquiry. 26
• Assaulting an Enforcer is treated as a serious crime. 27
• The Human Domain considers voluntary human–Calamity fusion forbidden; Fusionists and members of similar prohibited factions are to be hunted and exterminated. 18

Equipment

• Black-and-red uniform — standard identifying attire for Enforcers. 3 20
• Enforcer identification — issued to formal members alongside their uniforms. 50
• Firearms and walkie-talkies — used by field Enforcers during Calamity incidents. 10
• Calamity Pointer — a palm-sized detection and threat-assessment device. 3
• Calamity Bell — district-wide warning system for Calamity activity and Gray Realm Convergences. 7
• Cordon lines — used to seal off Mass Graves, attack scenes, and other restricted areas. 3 14

Known Members

• Han Meng — Chief Law Enforcer of the Third District; a Four-Pattern War God Path wielder with the ability Deconstruction. 10 11 17
• Jiang Qin — an inexperienced Enforcer who works under Han Meng during the Mass Grave investigation. 3
• Ma Zhong — formerly the Second-Ranked Law Enforcer of the Third District; controlled personnel assignments and later led an unsuccessful rebellion against Han Meng. 13 18 50
• Xi Renjie — a clean-background Second-Mark Law Enforcer personally promoted by Han Meng after the purge. 50
• Qian Fan — Enforcer in charge of Ice Spring Street in the Second District; avoided field work and assigned dangerous duties to Reserve Seats. 20 25

Corruption and Internal Conflict

The Enforcers’ authority does not ensure integrity. Ma Zhong allegedly controlled Reserve Seat postings through bribery, sending Chen Ling and Wu Youdong to the dangerous Ice Spring Street assignment after they failed to pay him. 18

Second District Enforcers stationed at Ice Spring Street avoided investigation duties, remained in a teahouse, and used inexperienced Reserve Seats as disposable intermediaries while maintaining ties with local criminals. 25 26

Han Meng’s later purge removed Ma Zhong’s faction from the Third District, but his extrajudicial killings drew anger from Aurora City despite subsequent official approval. 50
