Background / History
Kunpeng attends Dao Ancestor Hongjun's first lecture at Purple Heaven Palace. During the struggle for the six Purple-Gold Futons, he uses his unmatched speed to take the sixth and final seat before Eastern Emperor Taiyi can claim it. He refuses Taiyi's subsequent demand to surrender it. 7 8
Li Qingxiao's intervention to keep Hong Yun on the fifth futon causes Zhunti's attack to rebound into Kunpeng. The strike wounds him and knocks him partly off his seat; Zhunti immediately charges him aside and claims the sixth futon. When the Heavenly Dao locks the seated cultivators into place, Kunpeng can no longer reclaim it. 9 10
Kunpeng holds Li Qingxiao and Hong Yun responsible for his loss, treating the incident as an irreconcilable enmity over his Dao path. Despite his injuries, he remains at Purple Heaven Palace for Hongjun's lecture, suppressing both his wounds and resentment to continue listening. 10 12 13
After the lecture, Kunpeng ambushes Li Qingxiao, Hong Yun, and Zhen Yuanzi in a Chaos fault zone. His attack initially injures Zhen Yuanzi and pressures the Earth Book's weakened barrier, but Li Qingxiao's Purifying White Lotus suppresses his Northern Dark cultivation. Trapped by the three cultivators' coordinated assault, Kunpeng burns more than half of his blood essence and sacrifices three thousand years of cultivation to escape. 15 16
Appearance
Kunpeng appears as a sinister, imposing cultivator associated with Northern Underworld demonic and yin energy. In battle, he assumes a monstrous half-human, half-roc form. 8 15
- Blue-black wings capable of blotting out the sky and sun in his Dharma form. 15
- Scarlet eyes and an aura of extreme killing intent. 15
- Northern Dark demonic aura used as a defensive barrier. 9
- Nine Nether Yin Qi and Northern Dark Mystic Ice formations accompany his ambush techniques. 15
Personality
Kunpeng is proud, hostile, and deeply possessive of major opportunities. His refusal to yield the sixth futon to Taiyi shows that he will directly resist stronger rivals when his interests are at stake. 8
His loss of the Sage Seat becomes the defining source of his animosity. Rather than directing his resentment primarily at Zhunti—whose position is protected by the Heavenly Dao—he blames Li Qingxiao and Hong Yun, whom he considers responsible for creating Zhunti's opening. 10 13
He is also ruthless and vengeful. During his ambush, Kunpeng intends to destroy Li Qingxiao and Hong Yun's souls and condemn them to Nine Nether Yinfire. However, when faced with death, he abandons revenge and uses a self-destructive escape technique to survive. 15 16
Abilities & Skills
Supreme Speed
Kunpeng is renowned for speed sufficient to seize the final Purple-Gold Futon ahead of Taiyi and evade wide-area attacks in the Chaos. 7 15

- Uses high-speed movement and spatial maneuvering to bypass the Earth Book's defensive blind spots. 15

Northern Underworld Kunpeng Origin Blood Escape
A desperate escape method activated after Kunpeng is trapped by Li Qingxiao, Hong Yun, and Zhen Yuanzi. 16
- Burns more than half of his blood and origin essence. 16
- Sacrifices three thousand years of Daluo cultivation. 16
- Lets him break through the Earth Book's gravity, Hong Yun's crimson-cloud blockade, and the Chaos Membrane. 16
- Leaves his Dao foundation gravely damaged; recovery is expected to require tens of thousands of years of seclusion. 16
Relationships

- Hong Yun — Enemy and target of revenge. Kunpeng holds Hong Yun partly responsible for the futon incident, though Hong Yun initially feels guilty over Kunpeng's loss. 10 14 15
