Background / History

The Li Family has existed in Wuzhou City for nearly a thousand years. Its founder was reputedly a supreme expert who had reached at least the Heaven Rank, though the founder's exact realm is no longer known. The family is one of the city's three dominant lineages and possesses a King Tier ancestor as its stabilizing force. 1 4

Li Kainian, the family head and Li Ye's father, was once the Lineage's greatest prodigy. His rise allowed the Li Family to surpass the Yu and Wu Families for a time, but he later vanished while pursuing a higher martial path. 1 9 17

Following Li Kainian's disappearance, the family expelled his frail son Li Ye after he failed to awaken a Blood Soul by age thirteen. Li Ye was treated as an outcast despite his status as the Third Young Master and the family continued to permit relatives to mock and assault him. 1 3

Li Ye's return as a cultivator destabilizes the family’s existing order. His victories in the Year-End Martial Contest, including the defeat of Li Wei and Li Xuan, earn him seventh place among the Inner Disciples and force the Lineage to recognize his potential. 31 35 38

Structure and Culture

The Li Family prioritizes inherited bloodlines, Blood Souls, and cultivation potential over blood relations. Descendants who fail to demonstrate sufficient talent or progress may be expelled, while those with superior potential receive resources, status, and protection. 1 3 4

The family is divided between the main branch and numerous collateral branches. Collateral descendants can rise through martial achievement, but the main branch retains greater social standing and institutional influence. 17 18 24

Disciple ranks

Year-End Martial Contest

The annual contest evaluates the younger generation and determines access to resources, residence within the Lineage, and disciple rank. It also serves as a public display of the family's future strength. 4 18

• The first trial requires contestants to leave an imprint on a slab of Black Obsidian. 18
• Any valid palm or fist imprint is sufficient to pass. 20
• The Black Obsidian bears a three-inch-deep palm mark left by Li Kainian when he was under twelve and already at the seventh level of the Spirit Martial Realm. 20

Martial Arts Pavilion

The Martial Arts Pavilion contains the Li Family's accumulated cultivation methods, movement arts, and combat techniques. It is normally restricted to elders and qualified high-ranking disciples. 29 38

• The second floor holds dozens of high-grade Yellow Tier combat and movement techniques. 40

• Access to the pavilion is a major reward because a suitable battle technique can allow a weaker cultivator to overcome a stronger opponent. 25
