Background

Lin Xiaotian gave Lin Yue Chomper's purple seed when Lin Yue was six years old, telling him that it would protect him. Lin Yue planted it himself, watered it for half a month before it sprouted, and thereafter cared for it daily by loosening soil, removing pests, and feeding it small insects. 5

By the time Lin Yue was eighteen, Chomper had matured into an unusually large specimen after more than a decade of steady care and food. Although she lacks the ranged output of a Peashooter or the area damage of a Cherry Bomb, Lin Yue considers her his most reliable starting companion against dangerous individual Zombies. 2 4

Upon entering the Plant Garden, Chomper was assigned to the sixth row. Lin Yue used his Passive Scripting talent to give her Devouring, turning her natural appetite into a source of permanent growth. 5

Appearance

Chomper is a purple, fleshy plant with a thick stem, plump leaves, and a huge predatory mouth. Her size and build were already exceptional before receiving Devouring, and she becomes progressively larger as she consumes enemies. 2 5

Personality

Chomper is affectionate, mischievous, and intensely food-motivated. Her preferred greeting is to catch Lin Yue in her mouth, cover him in saliva, then spit him out after confirming his scent or enjoying his reaction. She waited by the courtyard gate for him all day when he was away, showing that the behavior is an expression of attachment rather than hostility. 2 3

Despite her frightening appearance, she is emotionally sensitive toward her companions. She became distressed when Wall-nut was injured to create an opening for her, then leapt over it to devour the attacking Zombie. 16 Her Tier Two breakthrough was likewise driven by her determination to protect Dwarf Wall-nut. 67

Chomper does not understand human embarrassment or romance; she regards biting as an obvious way to express affection and is confused by Lin Yue and Bai Qingfeng's reactions to one another. 57

Consumption

Chomper's core ability is to consume a single Zombie of similar size or smaller than herself. Her specialty is eliminating high-threat individual enemies that ranged plants may struggle to stop. 2 5

Early Garden Defense

Chomper's first documented Zombie kill came when Lin Yue lured a Buckethead Zombie from the fifth row into her sixth-row range. She swallowed it, crushed its bucket, and gained Health through Devouring. 11

During the third wave, she fought behind Wall-nut as the garden's principal close-range attacker. After Wall-nut endured repeated bites to give her an opening, Chomper leapt over it and immediately consumed the Zombie. 16

Black Olive Zombie Incident

When Lin Yue was severely injured fighting a Black Olive Zombie, he threw the armored Zombie into the sixth row and called Chomper. She attacked with abnormal speed, targeted the gaps in its armor, and swallowed it whole before it could struggle. 25

Underwater World

Lin Yue spent 150 sunlight to summon Chomper aboard his submarine, where she served as an interception plant protecting a vulnerable approach. 34 She spent five days consuming underwater Zombies and emerged significantly larger, later recalling the varied textures of Deep-Diving, Conehead, and Buckethead Zombies. 56 58

Tier Two Advancement Trial

During Lin Yue's Tier One-to-Tier Two advancement trial, Chomper, Snap Pea, and Toadstool were all occupied digesting Zombies when Dwarf Wall-nut came under attack. Chomper finished eating, transformed through her own protective will, swallowed the attackers, and advanced to Tier Two. 67
