How was that not progress?
The Daemon Princes and the main force of the Death Guard have been driven away.
The remaining scattered enemy troops of the Imperial Army can be dealt with without any problem.
Lin En looked at the briefing report submitted by Phoros and his team for two minutes, then nodded.
The Night Goddess Fleet suffered few casualties; the main problem was that the Imperial Army suffered far more casualties than expected.
Nurgle is actually more dangerous to humans than the other three.
He planned to leave with his men, but feared the Chaos Fleet might return.
Mortarion is dead, but not all of his men are gone. What if some incompetent commander suddenly decides to turn back with the fleet...?
Lin En gritted her teeth.
Damn it, one day we'll wipe out that bunch of Chaos bastards.
Although the main force of war is Mortals, in reality, the outcome is mostly determined by high-level combat power.
In terms of total combat power, one Primarchs may be equivalent to one hundred million ordinary soldiers.
However, on the actual battlefield, even adding four zeros after 100 million ordinary soldiers wouldn't necessarily make the Primarchs's clothes even slightly dirty.
There are barriers between different combat levels in Warhammer. The advantage that billions of Mortals have built up at the cost of their lives can be wiped out instantly by the departure of a single high-level combatant.
The Imperium is currently short-handed in combat, with a shortage of personnel everywhere.
His initial plan was to slowly bring back those loyal Primarchs, cleaning up the galaxy while building up the Imperium's pool of high-end combat power.
Who knew that Chaos and his group would suddenly hold another grand birthday celebration on Terra?
Now that they've been dragged into multiple battlefields, the Imperium's high-level combat power is starting to run out.
The Empire's only disadvantage right now is that most of the Primarchs have disappeared, and too few high-end combatants have returned. Guilliman is being used to split himself in eight pieces, Lionheart is being used as a mobile fire brigade, and the only ones who can truly carry the load are the Chapter Masters led by Dante Calgar...
well.
They are strong enough for most battlefields, but if the enemy is Daemon Primarchs, Daemon Princes, or Greater Daemon, they are just wasting their lives buying time.
Just as Lin En was about to ask Phoros to contact the rear to request reinforcements, a commotion came from outside.
The roar of the Engine came in waves, some near, some far, like muffled thunder rolling across the horizon.
The sound came from the direction of the berth outside the fortress, and even through several layers of alloy plates, it made the soles of one's feet go numb.
The roar of motorcycles.
Lin En's heart skipped a beat, and she turned to look.
The White Scars warriors have arrived to provide support!
The door to the command center was pushed open, and a communications soldier ran in. "Report! Two White Scars Chapter strike groups have landed at the external berths of the fortress to provide support!"
"Please come in quickly," the old general said hastily.
Lin En smiled, "You've come at just the right time."
Lin En and the old general walked out together.
The hall doors slid open to both sides again.
A team of soldiers with White Scars walked in this time.
The one in the lead wasn't wearing a helmet; he had an Asia face, bronze skin, and a white lightning bolt tattoo on his forehead.
White Scars's Power Armor was predominantly white with red accents. Behind him followed four or five White Scars veterans, each adorned with motorcycle parts, chains as belts, gears as shoulder buckles, curved swords at their waists, and topknots tied to their helmets, exuding the aura of steppe cavalry.
The White Scar squad commander at the head of the squad saluted Lynn: "Your Excellency Lynn, I am Hulan, the company commander of the 3rd Company of the White Scar Regiment, leading the 3rd and 4th Companies of the White Scar Regiment, here to relieve you on the orders of the Regent."
The White Scars Warriors treated Lin En with great friendliness and respect.
Because the Mantis Warriors are Successor Chapter of White Scars.
White Scars also knew that Lin En had stopped the purge of the Mantis Warriors and saved Nieldra from the clutches of the Grey Knights. The Successor Chapter group, though they didn't say it, remembered very clearly who bullied or helped the younger members.
Oh, and one more thing: the Mantis Warriors from the Siege of Terra were also called back to provide support.
Are we going to call them back for reinforcements only to send them back on Penitent Crusade after the battle is over?
It's impossible now; the Mantis Warriors ' Penitent Crusade has come to an end.
Lin En laughed, "Great, Hulan Company Commander Hulan, you've come at the perfect time. I'm in a hurry, so I'll leave the position to you. I've already cleaned the poison the soldiers were exposed to; you'll defend against any subsequent Chaos attacks."
Commander Hulan White Scars Commander, listened and nodded. Upon hearing the last sentence, he subconsciously glanced around at his surroundings and gasped.
The Lord of Pestilence was the most difficult to deal with, was completely Purification, leaving nothing behind.
In the past, when the Imperium encountered such a situation, it was considered a blessing from the Emperor if half of the people survived. The other half would either rot to death or become breeding grounds for Chaos. The most troublesome thing was the residual toxins, which could contaminate an entire area into an epidemic zone. No one could enter for three to five years; it could only slowly dissipate over time.
They even brought a large amount of Purification equipment and incineration equipment, intending to burn, clean, and then rebuild after taking over the site.
It's probably no longer needed.
Lin En waved his hand with a smile, "It's all thanks to the Emperor's blessing."
Don't ask, the answer is the Emperor's choice, the glory of mankind.
Lin En shook hands with Commander White Scars: "Then I'll leave this place to you. I'm going north to rescue Lord Dante and Lord Calgar."
Commander White Scars immediately saluted. "Rest assured, we will certainly live up to your expectations!"
With White Scars here to garrison the area, the defense line should be mostly secure.
Lin En and his men immediately set off to support Calgar and Dante.
The Night Goddess turned around, its Engine exhaust leaving two streaks of blue flame, and headed north.
The fleet of more than a dozen ships left a long trail.
The solar system is not large, and they are in the same direction, so the estimated time to reach Dantecalga is only two hours and forty minutes.
Dante, Calgar, you two absolutely have to hold on!
*******
The northern border defense line, above the thirteenth icy asteroid.
Dante was crouching behind an ice floe when a deafening roar erupted overhead. The three-story-high ice block was blasted into countless ice shards by a psionic fireball, which rained down on him, covering his head and face.
Dante wiped his face, his expression unchanged.
It's all bark and no bite; don't panic.
Dante shook off the ice shards that had accumulated on his shoulder armor and poked half his head out from behind the floating ice.
In the void ahead, Magnus is displaying his divine power.
The Daemon Primarchs hovered in mid-air, its crimson skin etched with flowing blue psionic patterns. Its enormous single eye slowly rotated, and wherever it swept across, that side exploded.
He held a ball of psychic energy crackling with electricity in one hand, while gesturing in the air with the other. One gesture would unleash a beam of light, two gestures would unleash two beams, and sometimes, when he was in high spirits, he would draw a circle in the air, from which a rain of fire would fall.
"You lackeys of the False Emperor!" Magnus's voice boomed through the void, "You think you can stop a Primarchs with your flesh and blood? Surrender now, and I'll spare your dog lives!"
As he spoke, his single eye followed his movements, and a beam of blue psionic energy shot out from his pupil, sweeping across the ice and carving a furrow three zhang deep.
A squad of Blood Angels assault troops were hiding beside the ditch when they were nearly plowed in the rear. They hopped and skipped to the side, getting covered in ice shards.
Dante's lips twitched.
They are facing Magnus.
The Lord Regent did not mistreat them.
Magnus is relatively easier to deal with than Mortarion.
The Mortarion's attacks primarily rely on plagues, causing widespread damage that cannot be dodged.
Magnus's attacks mainly rely on psionic attacks. Although there are both single-target and area-of-effect attacks, as long as you dodge them, you can still avoid taking damage.
The Blood Angels and the Ultramarines were desperately dodging Magnus's attacks.
Calgar gave a wry smile.
They used to have to use their entire squad to face a Greater Daemon, but now they've really made something of themselves, actually managing to fight the Daemon Primarchs.
Dante crouched behind the ice floe.
He tried to keep a straight face, but he couldn't and smiled helplessly.
Now that you mention it, they have indeed made progress.
Keep pushing them, and one day they'll become the Imperium's top stress-resistant kings.
Rumors say Magnus is a scholar-type Primarchs, whose main attack method is psionic magic, with long casting times and low attack frequency. But in actual combat, it was discovered that Primarchs and ordinary Psyker are not the same kind of Psyker at all. He can wield a psionic ball in one hand and a psionic beam in the other, and can also chant incantations to summon meteorites, attacking from all three fronts.
(I've finally managed to collect Chainsword Chainsword. As usual, I'll be giving away one to the first ten commenters on this post, to serve the Emperor!)
