While Green waited for Elizabeth to make her request, a small red bird suddenly flew in through the window at a leisurely pace.

The red bird was about the size of an ordinary sparrow. It flew to Elizabeth's side and began chirping incessantly.

Green was somewhat astonished. After all, he was on the top floor of Wilson Castle! Because Baron Lonanks had been murdered, Viscount Paul had specially paid a fortune to have Doctor Wilkins set up a defensive magic array against supernatural threats. The moment any foreign object invaded—even a mouse—the array could be triggered, sounding an alarm and launching a direct attack. Yet this little red bird had flown in so openly, and the magic array worth thirteen hundred pounds had not reacted in the slightest.

Elizabeth's expression darkened. After listening to the little red bird chirp for a while, she slightly furrowed her brows and gently rubbed her hands together, seemingly sinking into thought for a moment.

Green was now certain that the little red bird possessed some sort of communication function. However, the message it had brought seemed to have displeased Elizabeth.

A dozen seconds later, the red bird spread its wings and flew away, once again without triggering the defensive magic array.

Elizabeth stood and said, "Sorry, but there's something I need to deal with. Let's stop here for today. As for the Meditation Method, I'll bring it to you next time. As for the price... Your Skeleton Soldier is unusual. Just summon it next time and let me have a look." Without waiting for Green's reply, she walked straight out.

Green frowned slightly. He did not rise to see her off, merely staring at Elizabeth's graceful retreating figure.

It was possible that Elizabeth had used some method to witness Green's previous battle with the ghoul. She had noticed the Skeleton Soldier he had summoned from the Graveyard and seen that it was unusual, so she wanted to study it. Green was not surprised by this. Now that he had become a Necromancer, it was impossible for him never to summon undead creatures from the Graveyard in front of others. It was only a matter of time before someone discovered that his undead creatures were extraordinary.

Besides, Green did not believe that Elizabeth could detect the Graveyard's existence merely by looking at the Skeleton Soldier.

Since that was the case, why not trade it for a Meditation Method? What did he have to lose? Moreover, the Gelfis Meditation Method, Third Edition, was extremely famous throughout the magical circles of the Lorenzo Kingdom. It was the final version revised by the famous archmage Gelfis, and within the entire kingdom, only the advanced study classes of its two top magic academies could teach it.

The next day, while Green was eating breakfast, Vincent hurried over and sat down across from him without the slightest ceremony. He asked, "Green, I heard from Lola that you went to Old One-Eye's place yesterday and met Elizabeth Franton? How was she? Is that lady really as captivating as the rumors say?"

Green rolled his eyes. He had not expected Vincent's attention to be focused on that. He said helplessly, "She really is captivating, but that woman is extremely dangerous—the extremely, extremely dangerous kind!"

Vincent was a little stunned. He had heard that Elizabeth was an extraordinarily gentle and beautiful noblewoman, so how had she become an extremely dangerous person in Green's account?

Green then dropped a bombshell. "If you can, I advise you to stay as far away from that woman as possible. If my guess is correct, she may be Formal Rank."

"What did you say!" Vincent's eyes widened. What did Formal Rank mean? How many years had it been since Landon City had produced a Formal Rank practitioner? A transcendent powerhouse of that level possessed enough power to sweep through an entire city. The police and army would be utterly useless against them. To ordinary people, they were like primeval giant beasts. And now Green was saying that Miss Franton was Formal Rank!

Vincent understood that Green was not joking with him. His expression shifted from shock to solemnity. "Are you sure? She's really Formal Rank!"

Green shook his head. "I'm not sure, but the probability is extremely high. And she isn't a newly initiated Formal Rank practitioner. She's the kind of existence that is extraordinarily powerful even among those of Formal Rank."

Vincent swallowed and hurriedly said, "We have to tell Father about this. It's far too important!" He then rose and gave Green a solemn bow. "My brother, thank you!" He was not putting on an act. This news was simply too important. A Formal Rank transcendent was powerful enough to determine the Wilson Family's rise or fall, its survival or destruction.

Green did not stand on ceremony and accepted his thanks readily. Just then, a pattering of running footsteps came from outside the door. A little girl in a milky-white princess dress then burst in from outside.

The little girl was only about ten years old. Her skin was fair and delicate, and with her golden hair, large eyes, and baby-fat cheeks, she was exceptionally lovable.

"Brother Vincent, Brother Green, what are you doing?" the little girl asked in a sweet, childish voice as she hopped over, like a pure lily.

"Lillisa, what brought you here?" Vincent asked curiously as he looked at the little girl. She was his youngest sister, the family's little princess.

"Grandpa Wilkins said there are moving dolls here with Brother Green, so Lillisa came to take a look." The little girl blinked her large eyes and looked at Green expectantly.

Green and Vincent were both left dumbfounded. Doctor Wilkins really is unreliable. He had probably been pestered by Lillisa until he could not take it anymore, so he had passed the buck to Green. What did he mean, moving dolls? Those were Skeleton Soldiers! They were obviously completely unsuitable for little girls to play with!

Green and Vincent finally managed to fob the little girl off after much cajoling and coaxing. Vincent even had to agree to quite a few conditions.

After Vincent and his sister left, Green continued practicing [Bone Spikes] alone.

Unlike [Soul Summoning], [Bone Spikes] had not caused any sensation of his body being unable to bear it after reaching LV3. Green could continue practicing. On a sudden whim, he stood directly on the balcony and cast [Bone Spikes] into the air. Thirty meters above the ground, a halo of magic appeared, and more than a dozen rocky spikes, each one or two meters long, shot downward in a staggered volley. After flying only three or four meters, those sharp stone spikes blurred and dispersed into Psychic Energy.

This was the limitation of the [Bone Spikes] spell. When cast from the ground, the spikes could only attack within a range equal to their own length. When launched in midair, gravity could extend that range to three or four meters, but it could not stretch the attack farther. Otherwise, it would no longer be [Bone Spikes] but another spell.

After discovering this, Green tried to improve it further, but the results were meager. After all, magic in this world had developed for countless years. His discoveries and ideas might not have escaped the notice of his predecessors, and the fact that [Bone Spikes] had remained unchanged to this day showed how difficult it was to improve a spell.

Green was no genius. Without the Graveyard, he might not even have become a mage. Thus, after several failed attempts, he gave up. Instead, he simply continued practicing, raising the spell's level, making it possible to cast it instantaneously under any circumstances, and allowing the bone spikes to shoot out from any direction—above, below, left, or right—at his will. Compared with developing an entirely new spell, this could improve his combat power far more.
