Background / History

Lin Feng was an ordinary person from another world who suddenly arrived in the world of One Piece. Frightened and out of place in modern clothing, he was attacked by pirates before awakening the Infinite God-Slaying System. Its first mission compelled him to challenge Whitebeard with only a wooden stick. Although Whitebeard repeatedly knocked him down, Lin Feng continued rising and attacking until Whitebeard adopted him as his son and accepted him into the Whitebeard Pirates. 1

Aboard the Moby Dick, Lin Feng received Frost Gale from Whitebeard, bought incomplete Sun Breathing through the system, and trained under Vista’s observation. His first battle against the Navy forced him to confront killing and confirmed his belief that strength was necessary to survive. He then used the system’s rewards and relentless training to master the Six Powers, Observation Haki, Armament Haki, and stronger sword techniques. 2 7

His rapid rise culminated in a sequence of challenges against the Whitebeard Pirates. He defeated one hundred ordinary crewmen and the elite members, but his loss to Jozu exposed his weak physical foundation. Lin Feng responded with extreme weighted training, eventually becoming capable of injuring Vista and forcing Marco to fight seriously. His battle with Whitebeard awakened Conqueror’s Haki, and Whitebeard appointed him commander of the newly formed 17th Division. 6 14

After defeating Ace, Lin Feng became Ace’s sworn older brother and began teaching him Sun Breathing. Knowing of Ace’s possible future death and the threat posed by Blackbeard, Lin Feng resolved to become powerful enough to alter that fate. 16 18

Lin Feng later left the Moby Dick aboard the Gale with Whitebeard’s approval, seeking experience, allies, and greater power. He killed Vice Admiral Onigumo, spared the defeated Marine soldiers, and received a 600 million Berry bounty. 19 22 23

While exploring underground ruins, Lin Feng fought Bart Romanov, recognized the former Marine weapon’s desire for freedom, and recruited him as his first companion. He subsequently claimed the sentient Demon God sword, which attempted to dominate his consciousness before yielding to his will. 28 30 31

In Alabasta, Lin Feng reunited with Ace, warned him cryptically to defy fate, defeated Crocodile without killing him, and used the system to decode a Historical Text concerning Pluton. Appearance

Lin Feng initially stands out among pirates because he arrives wearing modern clothing. After his physical training, he develops bronze skin, streamlined musculature, and a more powerful build. 1 9

Personality

Lin Feng begins frightened and uncertain after crossing into a violent world, but quickly reveals unusual courage. He accepts challenges far beyond his ability, including Whitebeard, Jozu, Marco, and Hawkeye, and treats defeat as information for his next stage of training rather than a reason to quit. 1 8 12 13 49 50

He is ambitious to the point of obsession, repeatedly setting goals beyond his current reach: becoming the strongest man on the sea, surpassing Whitebeard, and claiming the title of World’s Greatest Swordsman. Despite his confidence and occasional mockery of opponents, Lin Feng is protective of people he considers family.
