History
Eagle Nation had taken first place in the National Destiny Trial for many rounds, building national-destiny reserves that its citizens expected to give new contestants strong starting identities. Serafino’s second-place finish therefore came as a shock, and the reveal of Dragon Nation’s Li Yi in first place provoked anger in Eagle Nation’s Congress 23 24.
The government expected Serafino’s Heaven World artifacts to restore its lead in the weapon ranking. Intelligence advisers discounted Li Yi’s innate treasures, but the ranking placed the Cherubim and Seraphim Scepters below his entire listed collection 33 39 42.
Serafino’s acquisition of the two Super Divine Artifacts followed a plan developed through more than ten Trials of intelligence gathering. By the second day, he had become an Eight-Winged High-Rank Angel, a descendant of Saint Raphael and disciple of Michael, and had also obtained the Holy Angel Armament. Congress expected these three weapons to sweep the leading places because even the Holy Angel Armament surpassed the artifacts Eagle Nation had obtained in previous Trials 33.
Eagle Nation used an insider to obtain information about Li Yi’s weapons and cultivation. Its experts initially judged his Innate Supreme Treasures to be comparable to high-grade Divine Artifacts, reasoning that genuinely powerful treasures could not be as numerous or as readily available as his collection appeared to be. As Li Yi continued occupying the Weapon Rankings, officials repeatedly revised their predictions from claiming the top three places to the top two, then to a possible joint first place for the two scepters. The eventual revelation of Li Yi’s Chaos Gourd in first place ended those expectations 33 39 40 41 42.
After that defeat, Hawk’s intelligence think tank argued that Li Yi’s advantage came from the Primordial World rather than his own talent. Robert brought nine other nations into a shared-cost plan to activate the Re-Rank Training Card. The card recalled three trainees per nation, preserving their previous cultivation and weapons, and sent them to the Primordial World 47 48 50 51.
The activation was initially unknown to most citizens, who reacted angrily when national destiny began leaving their bodies. Their mood changed after the system explained the card’s effects. Eagle Nation’s viewers celebrated the chance to compete in the Primordial World and taunted Dragon Nation, insisting that their recalled geniuses would surpass Li Yi 51.
Serafino was reborn there as Fu Ling, a descendant of the Earth Spirit Tiger Demon King. He struggled with the tribe’s cultivation teachings and lost a youth match to a younger tiger using a low-grade Magic Artifact. He later became a clan strategist and persuaded his father to represent Eagle Nation on the National Destiny Battlefield 52 54 55 63.
The reincarnation effort also suffered a fatality: one of Eagle Nation’s three recalled trainees died within half a day. To complete its battlefield team, the nation relied on a Heaven World contestant who had been Serafino’s close friend and had inherited his connections there after his disappearance. That contestant summoned a Cherub, one of Heaven World’s six Legendary Angels 65.
After the battlefield defeat, Earth Spirit Tiger returned to the Heavenly Spirit Mountains and immediately killed Serafino. He then decided to hide in seclusion to avoid further trouble 71.
Fourth-Day Pressure on Dragon Nation
Before the fourth-day recall, Robert demanded a response from Dragon Nation about sharing Li Yi’s secrets. When his deputy reported that no reply had arrived, Robert ordered representatives of Cherry Blossom Nation, Kimchi Nation, and other countries to be told that they would jointly apply for a national war if Dragon Nation refused. He feared that monopolizing knowledge of the Primordial World would allow Dragon Nation to outstrip every other nation by the end of the next Trial 108.
Robert and his associates dismissed the possibility that Li Yi’s personal strength could prevent this pressure, arguing that even a powerful individual could not fight an entire nation alone. They also expected influential figures within Dragon Nation to demand access to his information 108.
When the figure behind the National Destiny Game publicly presented himself as a god, Robert and the assembled congressmen reacted with awe and fervor. Robert himself had attained godhood in Heaven World and ranked among Eagle Nation’s strongest people, but regarded his own divine station as insignificant beside that of the game’s apparent controller 110.
Later revelations about the Primordial World clarified why Earth Spirit Tiger had feared Tongtian. Blue Star’s viewers learned that Tongtian had become a Sage and recalled the Demon King’s plea for mercy. At the time of the battlefield, Tongtian had actually been a renowned Quasi-Saint; Earth Spirit Tiger had omitted “Quasi” from his address as flattery rather than as an exact statement of Tongtian’s realm 120.
National Destiny Battlefield
- Team — Earth Spirit Tiger, a Rat Spirit, and a Legendary Cherub. Earth Spirit Tiger was a Celestial Immortal, while the Rat Spirit was at the Void Refining and Dao Integration Realm 63 65.
- Public expectations — Citizens celebrated the team as the strongest Eagle Nation had ever summoned. They expected Earth Spirit Tiger to defeat Tongtian and recover the rewards lost during the first two days 63 65.
- First match — The Rat Spirit and Cherub killed all three opponents in two seconds while the Tiger stood aside 66.
- Second match — The Tiger tried to surrender against Lion Nation, but the arena rejected the request because Eagle Nation was not at an absolute disadvantage. The team subsequently won 67 68.
- Misinterpretation of the surrender — Spectators and congressmen convinced themselves that the Tiger had only been teasing Lion Nation. The Rat Spirit then killed two opponents with its tail, and Lion Nation’s remaining fighter surrendered 68.
- Match against Dragon Nation — The Tiger attacked his own teammates and declared surrender rather than face Taoist Tongtian. He then knelt and begged Tongtian for mercy, revealing that fear—not a plan to betray Eagle Nation—had driven his earlier surrender attempt 69 70.
- Friendly-fire casualties — The Rat Spirit and Cherub were left barely alive despite the battlefield’s friendly-fire damage reduction. Eagle Nation’s citizens and officials initially suspected deliberate retaliation or betrayal before witnessing the Tiger’s submission to Tongtian 69 70.
- Aftermath — Tongtian accepted the surrender, and the Surveillance Eye declared Dragon Nation the winner of the third round. Once returned to the Primordial World, the Tiger killed Serafino, who had recruited him for the contest 71.
International Relations
- Dragon Nation — Its principal rival during the depicted Trial. Eagle Nation’s government repeatedly attributed Li Yi’s victories to luck or the superiority of his training world, then sought to compel Dragon Nation to share information once its own attempts to overtake him failed 24 33 47 108.
- Cherry Blossom Nation, Kimchi Nation, Asan Nation, and Gaul Nation — Among the nations brought into Robert’s ten-nation Re-Rank Training Card agreement. The participants signed a national destiny contract and jointly financed entry into the Primordial World 50 51.
- Shared-cost arrangement — The allies did not each pay 5% of their own reserves. Each contribution matched 5% of Eagle Nation’s national destiny, costing Cherry Blossom Nation 20% of its reserves and Kimchi Nation 25% 50 51.
- Proposed national-war coalition — Robert later sought renewed cooperation from Cherry Blossom Nation, Kimchi Nation, and other countries to threaten Dragon Nation over access to Li Yi’s secrets 108.
Key Item
- Five-star Re-Rank Training Card — A reward from an earlier first-place finish. It could recall contestants and send them into a designated new training world with their acquired cultivation and weapons. Using it alone would have cost Eagle Nation half its national destiny; sharing the activation with nine nations reduced its own cost to 5% 48 50 51.
- Acquisition and restrictions — Eagle Nation obtained the card three years before using it. The card was non-tradable, allowed no more than ten nations to participate, and provided three selections per participating nation. Its effects preserved the recalled contestants’ strength, talents, and weapons 48 50 51.
