Background and History

Born with an Innate Sword Bone and a Supreme Heavenly Spiritual Root, Qinghui became Cloudsky Sect’s celebrated eldest disciple. Ye Ruheng chose him as his successor, and Qinghui was considered a favorite for the Immortal Sects Grand Tournament 16.

During a Charm Demon mission, Qinghui lost his Inner Core after his close friend Ye Qingyun removed his protective mask. Qinghui initially believed Qingyun had been controlled, but Ye Zhenzhen’s warning led him to reconsider the incident. Although Qingyun had fused the stolen core with his own, Qinghui refused to reclaim it by force because separating them without the Xuandu Glazed Hammer could kill him 16 17. Divine Healer Valley could not restore Qinghui’s core, so he sought a Ten-Thousand-Year Bodhi seed as another path to recovery 16 18.

Qinghui competed in the tournament while severely weakened. Once the Bodhi seed became a Bodhi Spirit Pill, he recovered his strength, reached Nascent Soul, and defeated Shen Xingyan in the championship match 33 40 43 45. He later helped investigate missing female cultivators and rescue prisoners held in the Kongtong School’s forbidden grounds 94 103 105. After Ye Ruheng strengthened the seal beneath Cloudsky Mountain, Qinghui succeeded him as Immortal Venerable 110.

Qinghui is described as handsome and composed, with swordlike brows and star-bright eyes 51 60.

Personality

Qinghui is courteous and restrained, but firm when his principles or the sect’s safety are at stake. He declined an unnecessary challenge from Jiang Kui, refused to endanger Qingyun to recover his core, and saved Jiang Wan during their match rather than exploit her loss of control 17 20 42. He is especially gentle with Ye Zhenzhen, whom he protects and patiently teaches swordsmanship 18 79.

Qinghui’s swordsmanship emphasizes speed, precision, and reading an opponent’s technique 16 33 42.

• Flowing Light Illusion creates afterimages that help him evade attacks and disrupt an opponent’s timing 33.
• He found the gaps in Gong Ningxian’s musical attacks by listening for their rhythm, and read Jiang Kui’s swordplay after more than a hundred exchanges 34 42.
• Without his Inner Core, his Sword Qi lacked force despite his retained sword skill 30.

Tactical Adaptation

• Broke Tang Jiuzhou’s Seven-Star Killing Formation by using Ye Zhenzhen’s glass bottle to reflect sunlight into its star pattern 34.
