Background and History

Ye Zhenzhen was born to Cloudsky Sect leader Ye Ruheng and Xie Jingshu amid an omen of calamity and auspicious golden light. As an infant, she believed she had entered a novel with a mission to save the sect. Her family and fellow disciples began hearing her thoughts, allowing her to warn them about the deaths and betrayals she expected from the story 1 2 5.

She first concentrated on keeping Ye Qingyao away from Shen Xingyan, whom she believed would exploit Qingyao as a furnace and help destroy Cloudsky Sect. Zhenzhen later redirected one of his invitations to Luo Bingyao. In the Illusory Forest and Divine Descent, her knowledge helped her companions survive dangers, obtain treasures, and prevent Shen from claiming the Heaven-Opening Sword 5 9 14 22 69.

A prophecy warned of ordeals at ages five and fifteen. Before five, she trained with Ye Qingchuan and Ye Qinghui and advanced rapidly in cultivation. Her use of the Phoenix-Pattern Treasure Cauldron and Heaven-Opening Sword later destabilized her soul; Ye Ruheng gave up a thousand years of his lifespan to repair it 73 77 79 90 110.

Years later, Ye Qingchuan took her to the Demon Realm and married her. Zhenzhen grew attached to him but resisted his attempts to keep her there, seeking a way to visit her family freely. An attendant poisoned her and pushed her into the Abyss of Darkness; Qingchuan found and rescued her 111 117 119 123.

After Zhenzhen’s death near her fifteenth birthday, her companions used the Five Divine Artifacts in a resurrection formation. The Evil Drought Demon emerged in control of her body and revealed that Zhenzhen had been formed from a fragment of her Divine Soul and a drop of Ye Xiao’s divine blood. The memories of another world and the “original book” had been planted in Zhenzhen’s mind. She nevertheless retained her own will, resisted the Demon from within, and regained control when Xie Jingshu performed an Ancient Blood Ritual 126 130 132 137 138.

Appearance

As a baby, Zhenzhen was described as rosy-cheeked and doll-like. The Ten-Thousand-Year Bodhi Tree noted her resemblance to a woman from its past 1 26 39.

She is willing to take risks for others, including drawing a Demon Venerable’s double away from her father. Her desire to grow stronger sometimes leads her toward dangerous shortcuts, a choice she regrets after her father pays the cost of repairing her soul. Despite the Evil Drought Demon’s claim to have scripted her life, Zhenzhen insists on choosing whom to love and protect 83 110 132.
