Power Progression

Age levels below measure the Pokémon’s battle strength in the story’s Soul Beast cultivation system.

Background and Summoning

Chi Hong’s Poké Ball Martial Soul lets him summon one Pokémon from his former game storage for every ten Soul Power levels. Battles against Soul Masters and Soul Beasts grant experience to both trainer and Pokémon; a defeated opponent need not be killed. Professor Oak communicates with Chi Hong through the game panel, sends Pokémon, and provides items after learning about his battles and discoveries 1 3 12 64.

The Pokémon are treated as companions rather than conventional hunted Soul Beasts. Mu En notices that Charizard’s nature differs from that of a Soul Beast and praises the trust between Chi Hong and his team. Chi Hong’s separate Advanced Poké Ball Martial Soul captures Soul Beasts native to Douluo Continent, including the Ice Empress; those contracted companions are distinct from the Pokémon Professor Oak sends 3 8 20.

The game accompanied Chi Hong’s transmigration and became his Martial Soul interface when he awakened at six. Charmander was his first partner, initially represented by a ten-year Soul Ring. The Pokémon sent through ordinary draws are randomly selected from his former storage; a separate Legendary Pokémon drawing qualification can select either Legendary or Mythical Pokémon, as demonstrated by Darkrai’s arrival 1 3 58.

The distinction between Pokémon and native Soul Beasts concerns their origin rather than their status within the team. The interface also calls contracted native Soul Beasts Pokémon, and Professor Oak describes the Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion as a new Pokémon. Their contracts similarly emphasize friendship and shared growth, although the Advanced Poké Ball’s Soul Rings let Chi Hong directly wield their abilities and soul skills, unlike the summoning function of his first Martial Soul 19 20 22.

Legendary Pokémon Balls

• Plate-linked battle summons: Ho-Oh, Kyurem, Kyogre, and Palkia are associated with particular Plates. Their battle conditions restrict them to a threatening opponent rather than allowing unrestricted deployment against successive enemies 16 22 32 96.
• World-limit strength: The panels for Ho-Oh, Kyurem, Kyogre, and Mew list an age level of 999,999, identified as the world’s limit 16 22 32 45.
• Affection-based assistance: Mew and Celebi differ from ordinary battle summons. Their cooperation depends on affection; Celebi can be asked for help once after its affection is raised, without requiring an opposing combatant 45 98.
• Permanent companions: Darkrai joins the regular team after a special draw, while a weakened Zygarde Core later becomes the fifth Pokémon Soul Ring. These arrangements differ from a single-use Legendary battle summon 58 116.
• Capture: Legendary Pokémon Balls can also contain captured Pokémon. After Zygarde defeats Yveltal, Chi Hong captures it in one 114.

Major Campaigns

Charizard, Greninja, and Lucario fight together in the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Tournament final and defeat the Sun Moon Imperial Academy team. They shatter the Hongchen siblings’ Martial Soul Fusion Skill, while Mega Charizard X overcomes Ma Rulong’s Sword of Judgment with Outrage. The victory opens the Path of Legends stage of Chi Hong’s Pokémon Master’s Path to Godhood 45 48.

The Path of Legends requires Chi Hong to defeat the younger generation of the continent’s powerful factions using the Pokémon he has raised and claim their symbols of glory. A further trial requires maximum bonds with every Pokémon and victory over the continent’s factions and powerful opponents. Completing this path will create the nineteenth Plate, the Legend Plate 48.

After Darkrai joins, Chi Hong trains his Pokémon while traveling through Star Dou Forest. Darkrai defeats a four-thousand-year Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear with Disable and Sucker Punch. Greninja subsequently achieves Bond Evolution against the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, and the team later spars with the forest’s ferocious beasts 64 66 67 78.

Against Zi Ji, Chi Hong simultaneously activates Charizard’s Mega Evolution and Greninja’s Bond Evolution, while assigning Lucario ranged support and withholding Darkrai because of the unfavorable matchup. The final combined attack uses Mega Charizard X’s Flare Blitz and Greninja’s Golden Cross Water Shuriken. Both attackers are knocked unconscious, but they injure Zi Ji, who acknowledges Chi Hong’s victory 79 83.

Zygarde later subdues Yveltal while suppressing both its Dark Aura and Xerneas’s Fairy Aura. After Chi Hong captures Yveltal, Zygarde disperses its cells to restore the damaged ecosystem, while Xerneas uses Geomancy to revive lifeless vegetation and petrified creatures 114.

Abilities and Battle Methods

Battle-Driven Growth

• Pokémon gain experience through victories and can evolve during or after battles, as Charmeleon, Froakie, and Riolu do 1 5 38.
• Chi Hong uses stronger teammates to create openings for a newcomer: Charizard and Greninja weaken opponents in the battle royale so Riolu can defeat them and gain experience 28.
• Training also builds coordination. Charizard and Greninja spar repeatedly because their contrasting Fire and Water abilities can interfere with one another when used together 6.
• Unlike fixed game statistics, their attributes have no stated upper limit in reality. Talent determines the speed of improvement, so Chi Hong deliberately trains weaker attributes, including Charizard and Greninja’s close-combat abilities 11.
• Important opponents can provide unusually large experience rewards. Chi Hong first infers this after Charmander evolves from defeating a plot-significant Wind Baboon; repeated victories over the same opponents provide much less experience unless those opponents have advanced substantially 1 6.
• Rapid growth can produce bottlenecks. Charizard’s unstable foundation prevents him from passing 9,999 years until a powerful Source of Life can strengthen his bloodline 36 37 39.

Moves and Teamwork

• Charizard supplies flight, firepower, and aerial attacks; Greninja favors speed, concealment, and attacks from unexpected angles 3 5 6.
• Their combined Smokescreen helps defeat Beibei and Xu Sanshi, while Greninja later uses Protect to shield the team from a Soul Cannon barrage 5 46.
• Lucario adds close-range fighting and Aura-based techniques. Chi Hong envisions him holding the front line while Charizard attacks from behind and Greninja strikes from cover 27 38.
• Aura supports sensing, defense, attacks, healing, and communication. Lucario can identify Darkrai’s real body among its Double Team copies by sensing life energy 27 58.
• Riolu combines Endure and Counter to survive a potentially fatal attack and retaliate. Greninja’s Hydro Pump can combine with the returned lightning, allowing the team to exploit an opponent’s own attack 30.
• Repeated Swords Dance boosts allow Riolu and Lucario to overwhelm opponents. Drain Punch offsets health loss from the Life Orb, while Focus Punch provides a powerful attack when sufficient charging time is available 37 38 54.
• Darkrai adds battlefield control through Double Team, Disable, hypnosis, and Dark Void. Nightmare drains the life force of sleeping opponents, while its hidden ability Dark Aura increases Dark-type move power by twenty percent and prevents its own Dark-type moves from being resisted 58 64.
• Darkrai’s control is not universally decisive. Zi Ji’s mental strength makes hypnosis impractical at his ten-thousand-year cultivation, while the human-transformed Three-Eyed Golden Lion resists Dark Void’s follow-up hypnosis and counters Dark Pulse with her golden flames 79 89.
• Against the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, Chi Hong plans to alternate Lucario and Darkrai’s attacks so that one can use boosting moves while the other maintains pressure 89.

Abilities Awakened by Plates

• Mu En’s fire power awakens Charizard’s Solar Power, which strengthens special attacks in harsh sunlight but drains health as moves are used. Charizard retains Blaze, which strengthens Fire-type moves when its health is low 7 8.
• The Splash Plate awakens Greninja’s Protean, changing his type to match the move he is about to use. The Ice Empress subsequently teaches him Ice-type techniques 32 33.
• Plate control is also required to use certain one-use Legendary Pokémon Balls, including Ho-Oh’s Flame Plate-linked ball and Kyurem’s Ice Pillar Plate-linked ball 16 22.
• The Flame Plate grants Charizard Ultimate Fire and a twenty-percent increase to Fire-type move power. Solar Power’s health expenditure can activate Blaze, allowing the two abilities to reinforce his offensive output 8 15.
• Greninja possesses Torrent, increasing Water-type move power by fifty percent below one-third health. Protean supplies the corresponding same-type power bonus after changing his type, expanding the usefulness of his varied moves 8 11 32.
• Greninja learns Icy Wind, Ice Beam, and Blizzard using TMs and the Ice Empress’s guidance. He later masters Ultimate Ice as well as Ultimate Water, producing Frost Water Shuriken in tournament combat 32 33 42.
• The Meadow Plate raises the life force and abilities of all four Pokémon then accompanying Chi Hong. Its effect is especially significant for Pokémon because it is an Arceus-created component of their world’s foundation 73.
• The Dragon Plate and Palkia’s spatial energy purify Charizard’s dragon bloodline and awaken spatial talent. His Rift-Splitting Dragon Flame distorts space, disappears before striking its targets, and can instantly devastate a wide area 97.

Mega Evolution and Bond Evolution

• Mega Charizard X: Requires Charizardite X, Chi Hong’s Key Stone, and sufficient development and friendship. Professor Oak identifies ten-thousand-year strength and friendship of 90 as the prerequisites. The transformation changes Charizard to Fire/Dragon and grants Tough Claws, increasing contact-based physical move power by thirty percent 37 45 46.
• Outrage’s drawback: Mega Charizard X loses control after using Outrage against Ma Rulong. Chi Hong stops the attack and uses the Mystery Plate’s mental power to soothe him, but Heavenly Fiend Douluo strikes Charizard before the confrontation ends 48.
• Greninja’s Bond Evolution: Triggered through the Light of Bonds when his intimacy reaches 100. It requires no Mega Stone, heals his injuries during the initial transformation, strengthens his ice-crystal armor, and gives him features resembling Chi Hong, including a red crest and a large Water Shuriken on his back 66 67.
• Mega Lucario: Lucarionite enables a form with greatly increased physical and special attacks, stronger resistance to hypnosis, and more forceful Aura Spheres. Adaptability gives his Fighting-type moves a one-hundred-percent power boost 85 87 88.
• Combined transformations: Chi Hong can deploy Mega Charizard X and bond-evolved Greninja simultaneously, rather than limiting the team to one transformed partner 79.

Training Items and Life Support

• Life Orb: Raises move power by thirty percent at the cost of health with each use. Initially given to Greninja, it is later lent to Riolu for tournament battles 9 10 37.
• TMs and learning equipment: Professor Oak supplies moves and a move-learning wristband, allowing partners such as Greninja and Riolu to broaden their techniques 32 37.
• Full Restore: Immediately restores an injured Pokémon’s health, as demonstrated after Riolu’s exhausting battle 31.
• Life Candies and Life Pokéblocks: Supply the life energy needed to consolidate the team’s foundations and reach the ten-thousand-year level 38 39 45.

Creation, Restoration, and Ecological Powers

• Mew’s Life Weaving: Combines its genes with a Plate’s elemental energy to create a new Pokémon of the corresponding type. Such creations have complete lives, independent wills, and natural affection for their creator 45.
• Artificial Mewtwo: Professor Oak supplies requirements rather than sending Chi Hong the Mewtwo in storage. The process requires a fierce Psychic-type Soul Beast skull, a top-tier precision laboratory, Mew’s genes or willing assistance, and a portion of the Mystery Plate’s Inner Focus; it is not presented as a completed creation 45.
• Celebi’s time travel: Celebi travels ten thousand years into the past and plants seeds at a site where ice and fire mingle. It later visits slightly more than a week into the future and returns distressed after discovering the plants have died 97 98.
• Zygarde’s order functions: Order Perception monitors ecological imbalances, while Cell Gathering assembles dispersed cells into 10%, 50%, or Complete Forme. Aura Break can channel Complete Forme to suppress Xerneas’s Fairy Aura and Yveltal’s Dark Aura 114 116.
• Restoration after destruction: Zygarde distributes its cells to repair damaged land and ecosystems, while Xerneas’s Geomancy restores vegetation and petrified creatures after the clash with Yveltal 114.

Relationships

• Chi Hong — Trainer of the featured Pokémon. Their battles increase both strength and closeness, and Mew asks him to deepen those bonds before helping the Snow Empress. He protects Charizard from Heavenly Fiend Douluo and later brings Greninja’s bond to its maximum, enabling Bond Evolution 1 48 54 66 67.
• Professor Oak — Supplies Pokémon, TMs, and other training items through Chi Hong’s communication panel. He diagnoses Charizard’s cultivation bottleneck, provides Mega Evolution equipment, and eventually sends Lucarionite after Chi Hong repeatedly requests it 3 12 37 38 85.
• The Ice Empress — A contracted Soul Beast rather than one of Oak’s Pokémon; she teaches Greninja Ice techniques and advises Chi Hong about Charizard’s cultivation bottleneck 20 32 33 36.
• Charizard and Greninja — Competitive teammates whose rivalry drives training, but who also coordinate in battle. Their respective Plate awakenings repeatedly shift the balance between them, and their evolved forms later combine against Zi Ji 6 16 28 32 79 83.
• Riolu/Lucario and Darkrai — Riolu seeks to catch up with the older teammates; Darkrai’s defeat of all three later renews their eagerness to train. Mega Lucario and Darkrai subsequently fight as a coordinated pair against the Three-Eyed Golden Lion 28 58 64 88 89.
• Charizard and Riolu — Both resist conceding superiority to their teammates. They briefly form an alliance when Greninja’s progress in Ice techniques makes him appear increasingly difficult to challenge 28 31 33.
• Mew and the team — Mew privately consults Charizard, Greninja, and Lucario before asking Chi Hong to fulfill their wishes. Greninja’s affectionate interaction raises friendship to 98, Charizard’s play raises it to 96, and Lucario’s victorious rematch raises it to 94 54.
• The Three-Eyed Golden Lion / Di Qiu’er — Initially an opponent, she becomes fascinated by the Pokémon’s growth and their bonds with Chi Hong. Their example inspires her to seek real battles and ask to become his companion; Gu Yuena permits her to leave, and she later joins the team 66 67 76 77 83 95.
• Zi Ji — A formidable sparring opponent who acknowledges Chi Hong’s victory after Charizard and Greninja injure her. She subsequently becomes a contracted companion and receives dragon-bloodline and spatial enhancement alongside Charizard and Di Qiu’er 83 95 97.
• Di Tian — Recognizes the improvement in Charizard’s dragon bloodline after the Meadow Plate enhancement. Chi Hong later sends Charizard to him at the Lake of Life to learn spatial techniques 73 97.
• The Snow Empress — A native contracted companion rather than an Oak-supplied Pokémon. Mew agrees to help save her, and she later admires Greninja’s bonded form and Zygarde’s towering transformation 55 57 67 125.
