Blue Silver Meets Lin Fan

Lin Fan yawned and turned his head toward the door. "Is that the village chief? Bringing someone over this late?"

After so many days, Lin Fan had grown used to Bibi Dong and the others' footsteps.

So when they came in, he had already picked out an unfamiliar set of footsteps.

Qian Xunji said nothing. Yue Guan stepped forward to introduce her. "Xiao Fan, this is Ah Yin, my apprentice. She's been busy studying herbs and medicine and treating villagers with minor injuries, so she's only had time to meet you now."

"Your apprentice, auntie? Hello, I'm Lin Fan." Lin Fan patted the edge of the bed. "I can't see, though, so don't mind if I look a mess."

"Hello, I'm Ah Yin." Ah Yin came closer and studied Lin Fan curiously.

"Hello, Miss Ah Yin..." Lin Fan wrinkled his nose and sniffed carefully. "You smell lovely. Like grass after rain, or trees just budding in spring. No wonder you study herbs."

Ah Yin froze.

Since taking human form, she had indeed carried the distinctive natural scent of Blue Silver Grass.

Unable to see her reaction, Lin Fan continued, "You have a gentle voice, and you study medicine. You must be a kindhearted girl, just like Dong'er."

"You're too kind. How could I compare to Dong'er?" Ah Yin had yet to meet Bibi Dong, but she went along with him.

"So, Miss Ah Yin, what brings you here so late?" Lin Fan asked curiously.

Ah Yin sat on the stool in front of him. "Actually, Dong'er's been telling me about your Douluo Continent story these past two days. I rather liked the part about the Blue Silver Emperor."

"But Dong'er left some things out. I couldn't sleep after hearing it, and I had nothing else to do, so I asked the village chief to bring me to meet you..."

"Mostly, I wanted to hear the Blue Silver Emperor's whole story. Sorry to bother you."

After speaking, Ah Yin glanced back at Qian Xunji and Yue Guan, as if to ask whether she had answered properly.

Qian Xunji and Yue Guan nodded their approval.

Lin Fan paused, then smiled. "Dong'er told you about it? That girl really has been hooked on Douluo Continent lately. She asks me questions about it every day."

"And it's not just Dong'er. The village chief and the others are the same. I can tell everyone in your village likes the story."

Qian Xunji said, "That's because you tell it so well, Xiao Fan."

Lin Fan leaned back against the headboard, pulled the blanket up to his waist, and yawned. "All right. I've just woken up anyway, so I won't be sleeping again anytime soon. You want to hear about the Blue Silver Emperor?"

"Yes." Ah Yin settled on the stool, listening intently.

Lin Fan cleared his throat and recalled what he knew of the Blue Silver Emperor. "She rarely appears directly in the story. Most of what we know about her comes from Tang Hao's memories and what he says about her."

"But one scene I remember clearly is Tang San asking Tang Hao what his mother was like."

"Tang Hao said: 'She was the best woman in the world. She was gentle and kind, and she never lost her temper with anyone. With her in my life, everything was bright.'"

Ah Yin lowered her head, a little embarrassed. "She can't have been as wonderful as you say."

"What?" Lin Fan paused.

"Nothing. Could you tell me about her life? How did she meet Tang Hao?" Ah Yin quickly asked.

"Of course." Lin Fan smiled. "It's a simple story, and not a long one. I'll be done in no time."

"Tang Hao and Tang Xiao were brothers from the Clear Sky Sect. While traveling to gain experience, they met the Blue Silver Emperor as she was treating someone."

"Both brothers were struck by her kindness and beauty. The Blue Silver Emperor was drawn to the brothers' straightforward nature, too. The three of them spent the next few years traveling the continent together. Gradually, feelings grew between them, and both Tang Hao and Tang Xiao fell in love with her."

"One day, the kindhearted Blue Silver Emperor couldn't bear to keep her identity from the brothers any longer. She told them she was a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast, and that Tang Hao was the one she loved."

"Tang Xiao was disappointed, but as the elder brother, he sincerely wished them happiness. He knew he couldn't stay by their side, so he returned to the Clear Sky Sect."

"Tang Hao and the Blue Silver Emperor continued traveling the continent. When Tang Hao was in his early forties, she reached maturity and became pregnant. Normally, once a Soul Beast who had taken human form reached maturity, not even a Titled Douluo could detect their Soul Beast aura."

"But pregnancy changed that. Near childbirth especially, she could no longer conceal her aura, and Spirit Hall discovered her. The Pope of Spirit Hall, Qian Xunji, personally led the pursuit. After the child was born, she and Tang Hao kept fleeing, but she was too weak from giving birth. In the end, there was nowhere left to run."

"To protect Tang Hao and their child, the Blue Silver Emperor used the Soul Beast Race's self-sacrifice. A Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast's sacrifice couldn't be interrupted once it began. Tang Hao happened to need a ninth Soul Ring, and her sacrifice immediately made him a Titled Douluo."

"With the power of her Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring and the Clear Sky Hammer's offensive strength, Tang Hao was stronger than an ordinary Titled Douluo despite having only just reached that level. He drove back Spirit Hall's forces and escaped."

Having finished the Blue Silver Emperor's story, Lin Fan smacked his lips. "That's roughly how it went. The Blue Silver Emperor sacrificed herself, Tang Hao became a Titled Douluo, and he took their child to a remote village. Tang Hao spent six years in despair. Then Tang San awakened Twin Martial Souls, and the story truly began."

Ah Yin could not calm her thoughts after hearing Lin Fan's story. A sacrifice. So that's the tragedy he meant.

As a Soul Beast, the Blue Silver Emperor knew that sacrifice was the final resort. It meant offering up her cultivation and soul to another without holding anything back.

So Spirit Hall learned about these future events from Lin Fan, and now they want to stop me from meeting Tang Hao.

Ah Yin was clever. Hearing what lay in her future, she had already connected Qian Xunji's talk of life and death to the son she would have, Tang San.

Qian Xunji watched the two of them for a moment, then said, "Xiao Fan, you just said the Blue Silver Emperor's Soul Beast aura would be exposed during pregnancy."

"Tang Hao already knew what she was. Why didn't he take her somewhere remote from the start and hide there until she gave birth?"

Lin Fan smiled. "That's a good question, village chief. Who knows what Tang Hao was thinking? His Soul Power had already reached level ninety. Maybe Spirit Hall found them on their way to a forest to hunt a Soul Beast."

"Some readers of Douluo Continent even suspect Tang Hao's decision to keep traveling with her while she was pregnant might not have been accidental. His goal would have been simple: a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring and Soul Bone."
