Background and History

Qian Xunji inherited the Pope’s seat from his father, Qian Daoliu, and raised and trained Bibi Dong as his disciple and Spirit Hall’s Saintess 4 5. When Lin Fan falls outside Spirit Hall, Qian Xunji takes him in. He initially considers whether the stranger’s apparent homeland could offer Spirit Hall new resources, orders his injuries treated, and keeps the encounter secret 2 6.

Lin Fan then describes Douluo Continent as a novel and accurately names Spirit Hall’s guarded institutions and people. Qian Xunji restrains his anger when Lin Fan insults him and chooses to hear the story rather than kill its source 3 4. In Lin Fan’s account, Qian Xunji forces Bibi Dong to bear his daughter, Qian Renxue; after Tang Hao gravely wounds him, Bibi Dong kills him. These are presented to Qian Xunji as possible future events, not events that have occurred in the current story 5 14.

Concerned that Spirit Hall will also be destroyed, Qian Xunji consults Qian Daoliu. He carries out his father’s order to build a continent-wide intelligence network while avoiding premature attacks on the people named in Lin Fan’s story 6 9 16. He also responds to Lin Fan’s criticism of Spirit Hall’s treatment of Yue Guan and Gui Mei by promising each elder a suitable Ten Thousand Year Soul Bone 12.

Bibi Dong later proposes winning over potential enemies instead of taking what Spirit Hall wants by force. Qian Xunji accepts the approach after consulting his father. He has Ah Yin, the Blue Silver Emperor, located, then approaches her with an offer of protection rather than trying to claim her Soul Ring and soul bone 17 18 23 24. After she agrees to remain at Spirit Hall, he places her under his direct authority and orders the elders to protect her identity 28 30. He also directs a wider policy of restraint: members must stop abusing Spirit Hall’s name, avoid provoking the Upper Three Sects, and maintain the status quo with the two empires 29.

Immortal Herbs and Institutional Development

After Bibi Dong, Yue Guan, and Gui Mei return from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Qian Xunji learns that the Immortal Herbs have increased their Soul Power and fused Bibi Dong’s Twin Martial Souls into the Netherworld Sky Spider. He initially considers the loss of her second Martial Soul a disadvantage, but acknowledges the new Martial Soul’s greater quality and possible God-Level status after learning that it has awakened a domain 41 42.

Qian Xunji oversees the allocation of the remaining herbs. He selects Nine-Grade Purple Ganoderma for himself, reserves Blazing Sunflower Grass for Ling Yuan, and assigns Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew and Dragon Ganoderma Leaf to Lin Fan to treat his damaged Mental Power and weak constitution. Although the mental-strengthening herb interests him personally, he chooses to prioritize Lin Fan’s recovery 42.

When Lin Fan later describes the predicted abuse of Bibi Dong in greater detail, Qian Daoliu strikes Qian Xunji and promises to protect her if his son ever wrongs her. Qian Xunji protests that the events have not happened. The disclosures include drugging and imprisoning Bibi Dong, threatening Yu Xiaogang, and keeping her captive until Qian Renxue’s birth; these remain events from Lin Fan’s account rather than Qian Xunji’s present actions 45.

Qian Xunji subsequently receives responsibility for implementing Qian Daoliu’s long-term development strategy. This includes continuing the Infiltration Plan, recruiting ordinary children with Innate Soul Power of at least level five, doubling Spirit Hall Academy’s resources, expanding its facilities, and rewarding deserving personnel without violating Spirit Hall’s principles. Approaching the kingdoms and duchies is deferred until the future Angel heir is born and awakens her Martial Soul 47.

He also orders Bibi Dong and Yue Guan to select talented students for cultivation near the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, with Elder Bing Luoli leading them. On Yue Guan’s advice, the selection emphasizes plant-, ice-, and fire-type Martial Souls, which stand to benefit most from the site 47.

Marriage to Ling Yuan

Seeking a suitable mother for an Angel heir, Qian Xunji approaches Ling Yuan, a level-89 Soul Douluo with the Blazing Spirit Kite Martial Soul. He considers her particularly compatible because both of their Martial Souls possess fire attributes and flight capabilities. He openly asks her to marry him, offering Blazing Sunflower Grass to help her reach level 90 and assistance in obtaining a powerful ninth Soul Ring 47.

Qian Xunji gives Ling Yuan the herb while allowing her time to consider his proposal. After refining it and reaching level 90, she reaffirms her willingness to marry him. He assigns Demon Bear and Ghost Leopard to help her hunt a Soul Beast near the ninety-thousand-year limit and promises to announce their marriage once she returns as a Titled Douluo 48 49.

Ling Yuan returns with a ninety-one-thousand-year Firefeather Eagle Soul Ring, and Qian Xunji schedules their wedding for the fifteenth of the following month. He orders Yue Guan and Gui Mei to arrange the announcement and invitations, later strengthening visitor checks, patrols, and guest accommodations as the ceremony approaches 62 72. Tang Chen attends personally and presents him with a soul bone as a wedding gift 84.

By the time Ling Yuan asks him to fulfill his promise to explain Spirit Hall’s prophecy, they are married. Qian Xunji admits that the information came from Lin Fan rather than the Angel God and explains Lin Fan’s otherworldly origin and the opportunities his knowledge has provided. He then brings her to meet Lin Fan under the identity of “Xiao Ling,” the village chief’s wife, preserving the false village setting 89.

Revising Spirit Hall’s Future

Qian Xunji continues questioning Lin Fan about whether informed choices can alter fate. Lin Fan explains that different decisions can change the known future, though their consequences cannot be predicted with certainty. Qian Xunji accepts this advice and becomes increasingly determined to distinguish himself from the Pope described in the novel 49 53.

After hearing how Tang San’s allies connect him to the continent’s major powers, Qian Xunji concludes that Spirit Hall’s predicted defeat results from its isolation against a continental alliance, not simply Tang San’s individual strength. He orders Yue Guan to search the Balak Kingdom for Oscar and his parents, recognizing the exceptional value of a commoner-born food-type Soul Master with Innate Full Soul Power 56 57.

Lin Fan’s account also leads him to reconsider the upbringing of future heirs and disciples. He accepts that poor guidance contributed to Qian Renxue’s and Hu Liena’s predicted failures, and resolves not to send Qian Renxue undercover in the Heaven Dou Empire 61 62. Later, he tells Bibi Dong that he wants his future child to take Lin Fan as a master 81.

His caution does not amount to abandoning action against Tang San. After hearing about Tang San’s External Soul Bone and poisoned weapons, Qian Xunji rejects the indiscriminate killing of Man Faced Demon Spiders as impractical and contrary to Spirit Hall’s rules, but declares that Spirit Hall will stop Tang San before he reaches the age to hunt Soul Beasts 66. He continues opposing an immediate killing of Yu Xiaogang, reasoning that removing an incompetent future teacher might instead give Tang San a more capable mentor 76.

Divine Inheritances and Diplomacy

Qian Xunji participates in discussions about countering Tang San’s future divine advantages. He agrees that destroying Sea God Island risks provoking the Sea God, and supports pursuing its Divine Trials instead. Qian Daoliu consequently directs Spirit Hall to prepare the future Qian Renxue for the Angel God’s trials, send promising young Soul Masters to Sea God Island, and investigate Sea Soul Masters in coastal cities 67 69.

He also uses Lin Fan’s knowledge to offer Dugu Bo treatment for his poisonous backlash. The proposed method uses the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to suppress the poison while transferring it into a Soul Bone, with a suitable Immortal Herb as a possible cure for the root problem. Qian Xunji offers Dugu Bo a Soul Bone if necessary and decides to have him and Bing Luoli guard the well 81.

During negotiations with Prince Xue Xing, Qian Xunji offers a fifty-thousand-year Soul Bone, ten million Gold Soul Coins, ten Titled Douluo-assisted Soul Ring hunts, and twenty years of support for the Heaven Dou Empire in exchange for the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud. He publicly explains the proposed purchase as protection for maritime exploration, but privately tells Yue Guan that the relic is a Deity Token that must not fall into anyone else’s hands. Xue Xing agrees to consult his imperial elder brother; the exchange is not yet completed 83.

Qian Xunji later instructs Salas, through Yue Guan, to continue negotiations while concealing Spirit Hall’s true interest in the relic. When Gui Mei reports three Sea Soul Masters in Vast Sea City, he sends Gui Mei, Ghost Leopard, and subordinates to investigate 88.

After Gui Mei returns with a map to Sea God Island, Qian Xunji takes Bibi Dong’s proposal for a negotiated exchange to Qian Daoliu: Spirit Hall will provide supplies in return for access to the island’s Divine Trials. Qian Daoliu agrees to lead the delegation and negotiate with Bo Saixi. Qian Xunji specifies that they will not mention the Sea God’s Heart and orders Yue Guan to purchase supplies as a greeting gift 94.

Appearance

Qian Xunji is described as a middle-aged man with sharply defined features 1 24.

• He deliberately holds back his Soul Power when approaching Ah Yin, though she can still sense his strength 23.
• His killing intent makes the air around Lin Fan feel cold when Lin Fan insults him 4.

Personality

Qian Xunji is protective of Spirit Hall’s power and reputation, but Lin Fan’s account makes him reconsider how to preserve them. He rejects an immediate move against Yu Xiaogang because it would give the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan a grievance, and later rejects attacks on Tang Hao and Tang Xiao because the consequences are too uncertain 6 16. He can also acknowledge a failure in his own leadership: after hearing how poorly Yue Guan and Gui Mei are rewarded in the predicted future, he acts to reward their service 12.

His restraint has limits. He threatens Bibi Dong with punishment if she betrays Spirit Hall, and although he offers Ah Yin a choice, he privately orders her watched and is prepared to kill her and Tang Hao if they meet and threaten Spirit Hall’s future 9 25.

He increasingly treats the predicted future as a warning rather than an obligation. He explicitly vows not to become the Qian Xunji in Lin Fan’s story, and sees Bibi Dong’s possible godhood and his future child’s Angel inheritance as opportunities to secure Spirit Hall’s survival 49. His willingness to reserve a valuable Mental Power-enhancing herb for Lin Fan also demonstrates his ability to subordinate personal benefit to the recovery of someone important to Spirit Hall 42.

Qian Xunji remains comfortable with deception when it serves his plans. He maintains Lin Fan’s belief that he is a village chief, initially attributes the prophecy to a divine source when speaking to Ling Yuan, and conceals the true significance of the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud during negotiations 72 83 89. When Bibi Dong expresses guilt over deceiving Lin Fan, he suggests that she compensate him by becoming the person he admires 72.

With Ling Yuan, he displays a more affectionate manner than his usual papal formality. After their marriage, he addresses her as “my lady,” encourages her to call him “husband,” and reassures her when she learns the truth about Lin Fan 89.

Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul

Qian Xunji possesses the Qian family’s inherited Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul 5.
