Lin Fan’s parents divorced when he was young. His mother left to work elsewhere, remarried, and had another son. He visited her at seventeen, but felt unable to fit into her new family and returned to his hometown. His father remarried when Lin Fan was fourteen and adopted a daughter; during this period, Lin Fan boarded at school and returned home at the end of each term 87.

During Lin Fan’s first year of college, his father became seriously ill. His stepmother divorced his father and left with his adopted sister. When treatment could no longer save his father, Lin Fan took him back to their hometown. After his father’s death, Lin Fan supported himself through part-time work while continuing his studies. Following graduation, he lived alone in rented accommodation and worked as a company employee 87.

After being laid off, Lin Fan went mountain climbing to clear his head. A storm caught him on the descent; he slipped, fell from a cliff, and awoke with a head injury and no sight. Qian Xunji had found him outside Spirit Hall, but Lin Fan took Qian for the chief of an isolated village. His phone had no service, so he could not call for medical help 1 6.

Qian kept Lin Fan’s presence quiet and arranged for a healing Soul Master to treat him, disguising the treatment with herbs. Bibi Dong brought him meals, while Yue Guan posed as a village doctor. Lin Fan believed their explanation that a mudslide blocked the way out 2 11.

When Lin Fan mentioned Douluo Continent, he discovered that his hosts liked hearing about the novel. He did not realize that its people and institutions were real to them—or that the “villagers” asking about Spirit Hall were its leaders. His account of their possible futures prompted Spirit Hall to gather intelligence, reconsider its conduct, and seek out Ah Yin before the events he described could occur 3 9 18 28.

Lin Fan’s information also led Bibi Dong, Yue Guan, and Gui Mei to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Their discovery of the well and its Immortal Herbs confirmed the practical value of his knowledge. During their absence, Lin Fan collapsed after manipulating one of the colored threads he perceived, remaining unconscious for two days. Qian Xunji identified damage to his Mental Power and later arranged for him to receive medicinal herbs with Qian Daoliu’s assistance 33 34 40 41 42 44.

After Blue Silver left to cultivate at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Bibi Dong took over his head massages. Lin Fan was told that Xiao Lan would be occupied studying inherited medical texts. Still grateful to his supposed rescuers, he asked Bibi Dong to give the money in his wallet to the Village Chief as a wedding gift 50 51.

As his Mental Power developed, Spirit Hall strengthened the measures keeping its identity concealed. Bibi Dong proposed a formation around his courtyard, and Qian Daoliu erected a barrier that Lin Fan’s Mental Power could not penetrate unless it reached Qian Daoliu’s level. Bibi Dong and Qian Xunji acknowledged that they were confining an unsuspecting benefactor, but Qian Xunji maintained that revealing the truth should wait until his eyes recovered. Lin Fan accepted the explanation that strict village wedding traditions required him to remain in his quarters 71 72.

Nearly a month after his arrival, Lin Fan noticed that his hearing, strength, and mental clarity had improved despite his prolonged bed rest. These changes made him wonder whether he had been drugged or had actually transmigrated, though he still found transmigration difficult to believe. The changes were attributed to the continuing effects of the herbs he had consumed 78.

Bibi Dong brought him food and wine from Qian Xunji and Ling Yuan’s wedding banquet, and the following morning he shared his family history with her. Qian Xunji subsequently introduced Ling Yuan as his wife, “Xiao Ling,” while maintaining the village disguise. Appearance

Lin Fan is a young man whom Bibi Dong estimates to be about twenty. His clothes differ from those familiar on Douluo Continent; after his injury, he wears a dressing on the back of his head 1 7.

• Build: Bibi Dong initially describes him as thin. After taking the Dragon Ganoderma Leaf, he develops firmer muscles and six-pack abdominal muscles despite remaining largely bedridden 31 78.

He treats the story’s future as a subject for discussion rather than a certainty. With Bibi Dong and Ah Yin, he stresses that choices can change what has not yet happened; when discussing Tang Hao’s motives, he distinguishes suspicion from what the novel establishes 9 27 33.

His gratitude extends to offering the Village Chief his own money as a wedding gift. Even when Bibi Dong apologizes for restrictions on his movements, he reassures her that he has already caused the village enough trouble 51 72.

Lin Fan regards himself as an ordinary person rather than an exceptional authority. When discussing Dong’er’s interest in him, he attributes it to his unfamiliar background and entertaining stories, describing his former self as a low-ranking corporate employee. He wakes after two days. Qian Xunji and Blue Silver suspect that the lines are a manifestation of an unstable Mental Power ability, rather than simply a symptom of recovering eyesight. Qian Xunji considers the possibility that exposure to Douluo Continent’s Soul Power has stimulated hidden potential, but no Martial Soul awakening is confirmed 40 41 42.

While absorbing Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew, Lin Fan sees an immense web of threads connected to a silvery-white ball, with additional threads wound around it. He nearly touches the ball but withdraws after an instinctive warning not to do so. Later, moving only two white threads causes a headache, prompting him to stop. His attempts establish that manipulating the threads can harm him, but do not establish their purpose or a safe method of use 44 69.

Mental and Physical Enhancement

Lin Fan initially has an ordinary person’s constitution and no Soul Power. Nevertheless, Yue Guan and Gui Mei observe that he adapts to the Soul Power in the food and wine they give him more quickly than expected 1 13.

Qian Xunji reserves Dragon Ganoderma Leaf to strengthen his body and Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew to repair and enhance his Mental Power. Because an ordinary person could not safely withstand their medicinal power unaided, Qian Daoliu helps him absorb them using sacred Angel power. Lin Fan emerges feeling energetic and unusually clear-headed, with vivid recall of his past 42 44.

By the time Bibi Dong proposes isolating his courtyard, his Mental Power has reached the Soul Ancestor level. This is a measure of his Mental Power, not evidence that he has become a Soul Ancestor through Soul Power cultivation 71.

The herbs continue to work afterward. His hearing becomes sensitive enough to detect mosquitoes several meters away, his mind remains clear with little sense of fatigue, and his physical strength increases enough that he accidentally crushes soap with what he considers a gentle squeeze 78.
