"Lin Fan, lunch is ready." Bibi Dong entered the room first.
Xiao Lan followed close behind.
"Thanks." Lin Fan joked, "You've been taking such good care of me, I think I've gained weight."
Bibi Dong set lunch on the table and lifted the lid. "A little weight would do you good. You were too thin before."
"Couldn't help it. My company worked me to the bone with overtime every day." Lin Fan gave a helpless smile, then his ears perked up. "Sounds like Xiao Lan's here too."
Xiao Lan sat down nearby. "I can't keep listening to your stories for free. I read about some massage techniques in a book. My teacher said they improve circulation and clear up bruising."
"I learned a little from the book, so I thought I could massage your head to improve circulation and help you regain your sight sooner."
"That would be great." Lin Fan smiled in surprise. "Thanks in advance, Xiao Lan."
"You're welcome," Xiao Lan said.
"All right, eat first," Bibi Dong said. "Eating well and getting your strength back will help your eyes recover too."
"Mm." Lin Fan dug in.
After a few bites, Lin Fan asked curiously, "Dong'er, the village chief and the others haven't come by these past couple of days. Did something happen in the village?"
He had a reason for asking. They used to visit every day, but now several days had passed without a single visit.
He might not be capable of much, and he couldn't see for the time being, but he was a college student. If there was anything he could do, he would help.
Bibi Dong's eyes flickered. "It's nothing too serious. The rain a couple of days ago was so heavy that it caused a mudslide and damaged some fields. Everyone's been helping the villagers salvage their crops."
Lin Fan didn't suspect a thing. "It is the rainy season. There's been a lot of rainfall. The losses weren't too bad, were they?"
"The crops weren't ripe yet, so the losses weren't too bad," Bibi Dong said, going along with him. "Oh, I'm going into the mountains to hunt with the village chief and the others tomorrow morning."
"We hunt deep in the mountains, quite a way from the village. If we catch something, we'll be back soon. If not, we might have to stay another day or two."
Lin Fan nodded in understanding. "I get it. But if you run into any strange-looking animals, don't hunt them."
"The stranger they look, the faster you'll land yourself in jail."
"Don't worry," Bibi Dong said at once. "We know what we can hunt. We won't touch anything rare."
"Good. Stay safe."
"Mm."
As they talked, Lin Fan quickly finished lunch. Xiao Lan said, "Lin Fan, I promised I'd massage your head after you ate."
Lin Fan blinked in surprise. "Xiao Lan, you were serious?"
Xiao Lan sat down on the edge of the bed and smiled. "Of course. And just call me Xiao Lan. Adding 'Miss' makes us sound like strangers."
"Lin Fan, lie down and move closer to the edge."
"All right. I won't say no to that."
Lin Fan shifted toward the edge of the bed and rested the back of his head against it.
Sitting beside him, Xiao Lan gently placed both hands on his head.
Her fingers were slightly cool. When they touched his temples, Lin Fan flinched without thinking.
"Hold still," Xiao Lan said softly.
"Your hands are a little cold."
"They'll warm up in a moment."
Xiao Lan summoned the Life Soul Power within her.
A faint trace of blue-green light seeped from her fingertips and silently sank into Lin Fan's scalp.
To Lin Fan, it felt as though nature itself had kissed his head, leaving him refreshed and at ease.
"Ah..." He drew in a breath. "That feels... really good."
"Xiao Lan, you're amazing at this!"
"I'm glad you like it," Xiao Lan said, concentrating.
Something suddenly occurred to Lin Fan. "Dong'er, there aren't any strange customs here, are there? Like if someone touches your Baihui, you have to marry them?"
Bibi Dong snorted. "You're only asking now? If there were, it would be too late. Xiao Lan's already massaged your whole head."
"But no, our village has no such custom."
Lin Fan sighed in relief. "That's good."
Xiao Lan continued massaging him with slow, gentle movements.
The room fell quiet, apart from Lin Fan's occasional hum of pleasure.
Bibi Dong sat nearby, her gaze moving between Ah Yin and Lin Fan.
She suddenly wondered: if Lin Fan's eyes truly recovered, would the first thing he saw be Ah Yin's blue hair or her face?
The thought flashed through her mind, but even she didn't know the answer.
Then Bibi Dong patted Lin Fan's calf. "Lin Fan, don't just lie there enjoying yourself. Xiao Lan likes hearing about the Blue Silver Emperor. Have you told her about Tang San?"
Lin Fan remembered. "That's right. Xiao Lan, yesterday I only told you the Blue Silver Emperor's story. Want to hear about her son, Tang San?"
A thought stirred in Xiao Lan's mind. So my future son is called Tang San? That sounds like a name I might choose.
Perhaps I should listen and find out how Tang Hao raised our son after I died.
With that in mind, Xiao Lan said, "We have time. Tell me a little about Tang San. I'd like to know what kind of person the Blue Silver Emperor's descendant became."
"Let's start with the basics, then." Lin Fan adjusted his position, resting the back of his head on the edge of the bed while Ah Yin's fingers continued their gentle massage.
"Speaking of Tang San, I don't know how the Blue Silver Emperor would have reacted if she'd learned while she was alive that someone else had taken over her son's soul. Would she have fallen apart or carried on as if nothing had happened?"
Ah Yin's hands paused. "Wait, Lin Fan. What do you mean? I'm confused."
"Put simply, Tang San came from another world. He was an adult there, and he'd cultivated the Purple Demon Eyes. His spiritual power was naturally much stronger than a newborn baby's."
"So readers of the novel speculate that Tang San's spiritual power was so strong it crushed the baby's soul. Another theory is that after the baby was born, Tang Hao fought Qian Xunji. With the power of Titled Douluo, the Soul Power surging through their fight was immense, and it accidentally destroyed the baby's soul."
"Either way, Tang San's soul from another world replaced the baby's original soul."
Ah Yin fell silent after hearing that.
So I gave birth to my son's body, but his soul belonged to someone else?
Xiao Lan said quietly, "Lin Fan, I understand. What kind of person was he?"
Lin Fan thought for a moment, then answered seriously. "Honestly, Tang San was a decent person in the first book. He was smart and steady, and he helped his friends become gods and enter the Divine Realm."
"The first book?" Bibi Dong and Xiao Lan both froze.
Lin Fan nodded as if it were obvious. "Of course. Douluo Continent has a first, second, and third book."
Xiao Lan calmly asked, "Go on, Lin Fan. You mean his personality changed between the first and second books?"
"Exactly." Lin Fan nodded. "After Tang San became a god, he was like a different person. He started scheming over everything. He even split his own daughter's soul in two to fight over so-called fortune."
"One part got close to a Son of Fortune named Huo Yuhao. The other merged with the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, an Auspicious Beast among soul beasts, to seize the soul beasts' fortune."
"And somehow, he ended up with the ridiculous plot of both halves falling for Huo Yuhao."
Bibi Dong and Xiao Lan looked at each other, stunned.
