Background and History

Tang San grows up in Holy Soul Village with his father, the blacksmith Tang Hao. At six, he handles household chores and is notably composed for his age. Chu Heng becomes his first true friend in this life apart from his father 1 2.

After his Martial Soul awakening, Tang San enrolls at Notting City Junior Spirit Master Academy and becomes Yu Xiaogang’s disciple. He leads the work-study students of Dorm Seven and befriends Xiao Wu 3 7 11. In Soul Hunting Forest, he defeats a Mandrake Snake after Chu Heng’s arrow blinds it, then absorbs its ring under Yu Xiaogang’s guidance 19 20.

On a later visit home, Tang San finds that Tang Hao has left without saying when he will return. Xiao Wu and Chu Heng offer him company; afterward, Chu Heng notices that Tang San has grown quieter 39.

Personality

Tang San is quiet, responsible, and unusually mature as a child. He objects when an academy gatekeeper mistreats him and Old Jack, but remains respectful toward those who help them 1 4. In combat, he stays composed and cautious: even after an unseen archer helps him against the Mandrake Snake, he does not assume the stranger is safe 19.

Martial Souls

• Blue Silver Grass — Initially dismissed by Su Yuntao as weak despite Tang San’s Innate Full Soul Power. Tang San later uses it to bind Xiao Chenyu 2 34.
• Clear Sky Hammer — A second Martial Soul briefly glimpsed by Chu Heng during the awakening; Tang San keeps it concealed 2.

• Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Enables Tang San to repeatedly evade the Mandrake Snake’s attacks 19.
• Hidden weapons — Uses small projectiles against the snake, though they barely pierce its scales. He also keeps weapons ready while assessing the identity of an unseen helper 19.
