Background / History

Dai Mubai lived in Star Luo Palace before coming to Shrek Academy. His older brother had kept him under his thumb, a period Dai is disturbed to hear Tang San describe accurately despite their having never met 10. Zhu Zhuqing, his fiancée, later travels from the Star Luo royal family to find him in Suotuo City 15 16.

Dai first encounters Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Ye Lin while disputing a room at the Rose Hotel. He arrives with two women and offers to pay for another room, but the disagreement turns into a fight after he hears Tang San’s hostile private thoughts. Dai defeats Tang San barehanded, then faces all three together. Ye Lin’s strength impresses him enough that he concedes the room and invites Ye Lin to meet him at Shrek 9 10 11 12.

Appearance

Dai is a tall, golden-haired young man. His White Tiger Martial Soul possession makes his muscles swell; his tiger claws emerge in combat 54 56 62.

Personality

Dai is proud and quick to confront people who anger him. Tang San’s apparent knowledge of his past provokes their first fight, while Tang San’s thoughts about Zhu Zhuqing prompt Dai to drag him out for a late-night spar 10 28 29. He also targets Tang San during the Shrek entrance test after Zhao Wuji encourages him to teach the applicant a lesson 16 17.

He can acknowledge a capable opponent: after trading powerful blows with Ye Lin, Dai yields their hotel-room dispute rather than prolonging it. He later praises Ye Lin’s conduct toward the injured Zhu Zhuqing and considers befriending him 12 18. In team competition, Dai is willing to take risks for an advantage, including provoking Kuang Xi before their match; the opposing team interprets the encounter as a way to gauge Kuang Xi’s strength 54 55.

• Imperial Fighting Team match: Dai meets Yu Tianheng in an initially even clash. Later, despite Zhu Zhuqing declining the proposed fusion, he follows Ye Lin’s order to attack Yu Tianheng from the front 63 65.
