Background / History

Yu Xiaogang is the second son of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect’s leader. Stuck at level 29 for more than a decade, he left the sect and stayed away for over ten years because he believed returning would bring humiliation 31 70 71.

At Nuoding Academy, he intervened when a gatekeeper shoved Old Jack and escorted Ye Lin and Tang San inside. He discovered that he could hear Tang San’s unspoken thoughts, including his memories of a previous life and his contempt for Yu. Rather than take Tang San as his disciple, Yu chose Ye Lin, whose rare Body Martial Soul interested him 2 3.

Yu overheard and recorded Tang San’s Mysterious Heaven Skill. When he later tried it himself, the bottleneck at level 29 began to loosen. He passed the method and other techniques learned from Tang San’s thoughts to Ye Lin 6 8 9. Six years later, Yu was directing most of Shrek Academy’s courses and leading its Seven Devils team 23 71.

After reuniting with his nephew Yu Tianheng, Yu agreed to return to the sect once he had finished his work at Shrek. Tang San’s thoughts had also warned him that Spirit Hall would destroy the clan in a future Soul Hunting Operation 70 71.

Yu Xiaogang has a lean face and is seen wearing a gray robe. Years after Ye Lin first meets him, he carries himself with noticeably greater energy and confidence 20 22.

Yu is protective of Ye Lin: he arranges stronger supervision for their first Spirit Ring hunt, guards him during a Spirit Bone absorption, and warns him to conceal abilities that could put him in danger 5 21. He also accepts responsibility beyond his own group, offering to help Meng Yiran find a replacement Spirit Ring after Shrek kills the serpent she was tracking 31.

He is less open-handed toward Tang San. Hearing Tang San’s hostility, Yu rejects him as a disciple and quietly uses his thoughts to obtain techniques and information for Ye Lin. His regained confidence does not erase his concern for family; Tianheng’s plea and the threat to the sect move him toward returning home 3 6 29 70.
