Background / History

Early Life and Captivity

Tian Meng was born in the Frozen Forest. His accidental discovery of a cavern full of Mystic Ice essence allowed him to accumulate extraordinary cultivation without facing the tribulations normally associated with powerful Soul Beasts. After leaving the Extreme North, he traveled across much of the continent using Simulation to deter predators 25 26.

His travels ended in captivity in the Star Dou Great Forest. Its beasts drained his power for nearly ten thousand years, leaving him with only his Origin by the time he met Huo Yuhao. He remained deeply resentful of his captors 10 23 26.

Sacrifice to Huo Yuhao

Tian Meng emerged near the boundary between the forest’s Outer and Mixed Zones, where Huo Yuhao was seeking his first Spirit Ring. He chose Yuhao because they were both spiritual-type, felt an unusual compatibility with him, and believed their meeting was destined. Roars from deeper in the forest prompted him to begin transferring his Origin before finishing his explanation 9.

After entering Yuhao’s Sea of Consciousness, Tian Meng disturbed Jiang Ziya’s rest and was restrained with golden chains. Jiang later used one of his ten Origin clusters to shape Yuhao’s blank Martial Soul into Four-Not-Like. Tian Meng initially protested because he had reserved the blank Martial Soul for the Ice Empress, but enthusiastically accepted the change once he learned that Four-Not-Like was an Auspicious Beast 10 11.

The God-Making Plan

Tian Meng’s plan was to help a promising human become a god, allowing the Soul Beasts serving as that human’s conscious Spirit Rings to ascend alongside him. He selected Huo Yuhao as the plan’s central figure and brought him to the Extreme North to recruit the Ice Empress 20 21.

Using his Silkworm Molt, Tian Meng imprisoned the Ice Empress long enough to present his proposal. Her doubts eased after Yuhao demonstrated his Auspicious Beast Martial Soul and Tian Meng introduced Jiang Ziya. Tian Meng then recruited the Snow Empress by offering her both a chance to remain with the Ice Empress and a possible escape from her approaching tribulation 21 22 23.

Tian Meng directed the Ice Empress’s sacrifice, guiding her power into Yuhao and helping him endure the Spirit Ring and torso-bone fusion. During the subsequent search for Yuhao’s second Spirit Eyes ring, he abandoned his original Ice Silkworm target in favor of a rare Mirror Shadow Beast. Although initially disappointed that its ring did not grant copying, he approved of Spiritual Clone’s potential to confuse enemies 23 24 26 27.

Continuing Companionship

When Huo Yun’er died, Tian Meng could not save her; his spiritual powers lacked the means to restore her life. After Jiang Ziya and Electrolux exhausted themselves protecting her soul, Tian Meng remained among Yuhao’s companions throughout their three-year recovery. At Shrek Academy, he also helped assess the formidable spiritual power of the elder Yuhao encountered 34 41.

Personality

Tian Meng is boastful, talkative, and easily carried away. He insists on being called “Brother Sky Dream,” celebrates his own exceptional fortune, and delights in teasing Yuhao—including laughing at the antlers left by Four-Not-Like’s awakening. His bluster quickly gives way to deference when Jiang Ziya reminds him of their difference in power 10 11 12.

He nevertheless takes dangerous fusion procedures seriously. Before the Ice Empress’s sacrifice, he carefully explains the risks, instructs both participants, and prepares to divert power to help Yuhao if the boy loses consciousness. His praise after Yuhao defeats the Mirror Shadow Beast shows genuine confidence in his chosen partner 23 24 27.

His attachment to the Ice Empress combines persistent affection with coercion. He repeatedly calls her “Bingbing” despite her objections, restrains her to force a conversation, and admits that he would erase her consciousness if persuasion failed. After she joins Yuhao, he even welcomes being thrown out of the Sea of Consciousness as a nostalgic reminder of their old interactions 20 21 25.
