Background and History

Xu Jiujiu and her protector, Man Yi, intervene when guards from the Duke’s Estate pursue Huo Yuhao and his injured mother. Jiujiu gives them shelter in a family-owned courtyard in Star Luo City and arranges medical care. She sees both Yuhao’s talent and his estrangement from the White Tiger Duke’s household as reasons to support him; the two agree to work together with imperial backing 3 4 5 6.

She supplies Yuhao with medicinal treasures and Whale Rubber to strengthen his body before his first Spirit Ring hunt. Later, she arranges protection for the hunt, finds him a Soul Tool teacher, and gives him a defensive Soul Tool. She also reports his unusual abilities to her brother, Emperor Xu Jiawei, while pressing him to provide Yuhao with resources 7 8 15 16 17.

After Yuhao goes missing in the Extreme North, Jiujiu seeks help from Xu Jiawei and tries to comfort Huo Yun’er. Yuhao returns safely, and he and Jiujiu later agree to an engagement, which Huo Yun’er approves. Following Huo Yun’er’s death, Jiujiu visits Yuhao almost daily and urges him to take breaks from his relentless training. Before he leaves for Shrek Academy, she gives him herbs and rare materials, then kisses him goodbye 28 29 32 35 37.

Jiujiu has purple hair and violet eyes. Her clothing includes purple dresses, and she sometimes wears her hair in a high ponytail 17 30.

Personality

Jiujiu’s care for Yuhao is practical: she secures treatment, food, equipment, teachers, and guards for him. She is also open about the political value of his identity rather than hiding it when he confronts her. As they grow closer, she becomes protective of his well-being beyond his usefulness to the Empire, especially after his mother’s death 5 6 17 28 35.

She is decisive when Yi Yin and Yipu threaten people at the Starlight Auction House, ordering both handed over to the emperor. Around Yuhao, she is often teasing and affectionate, though their growing closeness can leave her embarrassed 19 30 32.

Star Crown Martial Soul

Jiujiu possesses an ancestral form of the Star Crown Martial Soul with a diminished prophetic ability. Its intuition leads her to believe Yuhao will prove extraordinary, though she receives no specific vision about him 5.
