Appearance

Dai Huabin has blond hair and the White Tiger Family’s distinctive inborn double pupils. During White Tiger Possession, his body enlarges enough to tear his uniform, his hair becomes black and white, and his hands transform into enormous tiger claws 65 76 77.

• Damaged right ear: Huo Yuhao bit off a large portion during his escape from the Duke’s Estate. The injury remained visible five years later 1 67.
• Unrestored injury: The Duke’s Mansion sought help from Medicine Immortal Douluo Wang Xian’er, but even she could not restore the missing portion 67.

Personality

Dai Huabin treats noble birth and possession of the White Tiger Martial Soul as grounds for superiority. He rejects Huo Yuhao’s right to the Dai surname because Yuhao was born to a maid and did not awaken the family’s Martial Soul. He takes pleasure in humiliating him, using his injured mother as leverage to demand submission 1.

After losing part of his ear, Dai Huabin becomes increasingly cruel and domineering. The Duchess, feeling indebted to him, spoils him further; within the estate, he begins beating servants and maids to death over minor provocations. At Shrek, he regards his patronage of Jiang Nannan’s food stall as an honor she should accept rather than a transaction she may refuse 69.

His arrogance does not prevent him from recognizing danger. Confronted by several senior students, he realizes he cannot defeat them; under Ma Xiaotao’s pressure, he becomes respectful and later apologizes. Against Huo Yuhao, however, his confidence returns so strongly that he initially sees no need to offer stakes for his own possible defeat 69 70 76.

Background / History

Abuse at the Duke’s Estate

As the Duchess’s second son, Dai Huabin grows up with the household’s protection while his younger half-brother, then named Dai Yuhao, suffers repeated bullying. When Yuhao and Huo Yun’er fail to bow to him, Huabin orders his guards to beat them unconscious. He then insults Yuhao’s birth and Martial Soul, and demands that he beg for his mother’s release 1 4.

Yuhao feigns submission to bring Huabin within reach, then bites off part of his right ear. Huabin orders the guards to kill both mother and son, but they hesitate because Yuhao is still the Duke’s son and has awakened Innate Full Soul Power. Dai Xing intervenes on Huabin’s behalf; after Yuhao crushes the severed ear fragment, Huabin faints. Jiang Ziya helps Yuhao and his mother escape, while Dai Xing carries Huabin away for medical treatment 1.

The incident prompts Yuhao to abandon the Dai surname and vow revenge against Huabin and the Duchess. Years later, Huo Yuhao suspects that the lingering injuries from Huabin’s beating gave Tang San and Dai Mubai an opportunity to kill his mother; this remains Yuhao’s interpretation of Huabin’s part in her death 2 69.

Shrek Academy and the Ransom Incident

News of Dai Huabin’s enrollment at Shrek Academy causes Huo Yuhao to change his own schooling plans and follow him there to pursue revenge. Huabin does not recognize him: Yuhao’s surname and appearance have changed, and the Star Luo Imperial Family has concealed his identity 36 65 75.

Their renewed conflict begins when Huabin attempts to seize grilled fish Jiang Nannan has reserved for her friends. Huo Yuhao stops his hand, and Ma Xiaotao intervenes. Huabin’s attempt to invoke Dai Yueheng’s Inner Court standing fails; Ma Xiaotao slaps him, kicks him into the grill, and blasts him through a nearby wall. Du Weilun hears the explanation and leaves without punishing her 69 70.

Huo Yuhao demands 11,800 Gold Soul Coins for the damaged grill and wall. When Huabin refuses responsibility, the Snow Empress subdues him and holds him at the Star Spirit Hotel pending payment from the Duke’s Mansion. During his confinement, her casually released Ultimate Ice nearly freezes him to death 70 71 76.

Freshman Competition Final

After Huo Yuhao’s semifinal victory, Huabin confronts him and proposes a wager on the final: if Yuhao loses, he must kneel, kowtow, admit inferiority, and apologize for insulting the Duke’s Mansion. Huabin eventually accepts reciprocal terms requiring him to kneel and admit inferiority if Yuhao wins 75 76.

Huabin enters the final with Zhu Lu and Cui Yajie against Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong’er, and Xiao Xiao. Their opening plan targets Yuhao first, but his illusions, dummy, and ice clones thwart their attacks. After Cui Yajie is eliminated, Huabin and Zhu Lu resort to the Hell White Tiger 77 78.

Huo Yuhao destroys the fusion and prevents Huabin from completing a surrender by striking his mouth with a heavy steel whip, knocking out several teeth. Huabin’s teacher demands an end to the match, but no result is declared. When Huabin asks why Yuhao is treating him this way, Yuhao produces the White Tiger Dagger and reminds him of the ear-biting incident five years earlier 79.
