The description of the Snake Summon sounded impressive: a huge, ferocious ninja beast of immense strength. The difficulty of forming a contract and taming one ranked among the highest in the entire Shinobi World.

Taming one might be difficult, but if Cangyue-sensei said it would be fine, it probably would be... right?

But there was one problem... Would a Snake Summon suit her?

"So hard to choose..." Sakura Haruno set the Summoning Snake scroll by her feet and picked up another Contract Scroll.

She decided to shortlist a few that caught her eye, then choose from those.

After all, contracting a summon was a big decision. She needed one whose abilities suited her and that could actually help her fight enemies.

"Doesn't seem like there's much to choose from. An eagle...?" Sasuke Uchiha sat cross-legged on the ground, casually leafing through a mountain of scrolls until his gaze settled on an eagle Summoning Scroll.

It could share its vision with its summoner for covert reconnaissance?

And it could help its summoner fight enemies at range and even carry its summoner through the air.

It's you, then, Eagle Ninja Beast!

At first, he had considered a snake or a slug. Snakes had powerful attacks and could even use poisonous ninjutsu.

Slugs could use Medical Ninjutsu, letting him heal while fighting. That made them useful summons.

In the end, though, he chose the eagle.

An Eagle Ninja Beast was simply more convenient.

"I've chosen." The corners of Sasuke Uchiha's mouth lifted slightly as he carried the heavy Contract Scroll over to Cangyue.

Sakura Haruno paused mid-scroll when she heard him. She looked up at Sasuke Uchiha and said admiringly, "Already? Sasuke, you're amazing."

Oh my gosh!

Only two minutes had passed, and Sasuke had already made his choice.

Naruto Uzumaki hugged a huge scroll and turned his foxlike face toward Sasuke Uchiha. "You sure you're okay choosing that fast, Sasuke? Pick carelessly and you'll regret it!"

Sasuke Uchiha glanced at Naruto Uzumaki and gave a cold snort. "A summon only needs to suit its summoner. I doubt an idiot like you could understand."

A vein bulged on Naruto Uzumaki's forehead. He clenched his fists and glared at Sasuke. "Why, you smug jerk! I'll pick an incredible summon and blow you away!"

If I get to choose my own summon, I'm picking one that's strong and cool!

Sasuke Uchiha ignored Naruto. Holding his Contract Scroll, he looked coolly at Aogetsu Hyuga. "Cangyue-sensei, this is the summon I chose."

"An eagle? Fair enough. Flying is every man's dream, after all." Aogetsu Hyuga took the Contract Scroll and opened it to read.

He had thought Sasuke would choose a snake.

An eagle was not particularly useful, but it would be a fun summon.

"Yawn..." Aogetsu Hyuga yawned, sounding put out. "Press a bloody handprint on it. The Hand Seals are illustrated there."

Here I am, a Six Paths Level powerhouse, helping a bunch of brats summon beasts.

How boring.

I need something fun to do.

"Yes." Sasuke Uchiha bit his thumb, smeared blood across all five fingers, and pressed his palm to the Contract Scroll.

Hum. The Contract Scroll trembled slightly and gave off pale-blue Chakra.

"Give it a try. You might surprise us," Aogetsu Hyuga said. He was curious how large a summon the Uchiha Clan's prodigy could call on his first attempt.

"I'm stronger than that idiot Naruto. Watch closely, Cangyue-sensei." Sasuke Uchiha's calm voice carried unmistakable confidence. He had seen the Summoning Technique performed many times.

As an avenger and a prodigy of the Uchiha Clan, I'll get my first summoning perfect!

Sasuke Uchiha drew a line of blood across his palm, swiftly formed the Hand Seals, and slammed his hand onto the ground.

Poof! Black markings spread across the ground, and thick white smoke swallowed the entire area, blocking everyone's view.

"What will Sasuke summon?" Sakura Haruno stared at the smoke-shrouded patch of ground, curiosity flashing in her eyes.

That's a lot of smoke.

He must have summoned an incredible Eagle Ninja Beast, right?

He's a prodigy, after all.

"What a spectacle. Did Sasuke actually... Damn it." Naruto Uzumaki stared at the vast cloud of smoke, his expression grim. Frustration flashed in his eyes as he gritted his teeth and clenched his fists.

Is all that smoke covering the summon's body?

I can't lose to Sasuke!

I have to find a summon a thousand times stronger than his!

"Cough, cough! I'm choking." Aogetsu Hyuga coughed and irritably waved the smoke away from his face.

Whoosh. A cool breeze swept through, gradually thinning the smoke. Everyone watched the shape emerging inside it with bated breath.

When the wind blew the last of the smoke away, everyone saw the ninja beast Sasuke had summoned.

On the ground in front of Sasuke Uchiha sat a pure-white bird egg.

"Pfft." Aogetsu Hyuga could not hold it in. He turned aside and covered his mouth, letting out a mocking chuckle. "Uchiha brat, I had no idea you were such a comedian."

A bird egg?

That's hilarious.

"Hahahaha! Sasuke... pfft—hahahaha!" After a stunned moment, Naruto Uzumaki pointed at the white egg and doubled over laughing.

"The Uchiha prodigy... hahahaha!" Naruto Uzumaki laughed so hard he could barely breathe.

He had thought Sasuke would summon some incredible ninja beast. Never in his wildest dreams had he expected a bird egg!

Sakura Haruno walked over and crouched beside the egg. She poked it with a finger and forced down her laughter. "Bird... bird eggs are cute."

She desperately wanted to laugh.

She wanted to burst out laughing like Naruto.

But she had to hold it in, or Sasuke would dislike her!

Still laughing, Naruto Uzumaki said, "S-Sakura, you want to laugh too, don't you? Smug Sasuke looks so stupid! Pfft—hahaha!"

"Na-ru-to!" Sakura Haruno suppressed her laughter, clenched her fair-skinned fist, and punched Naruto Uzumaki hard.

Stupid Naruto! He's so annoying!

Bam! Naruto Uzumaki flew backward, tumbled across the ground, and finally crashed into a tree trunk.

Naruto Uzumaki rolled around clutching his head and howling. "That hurts! Sakura, you wanted to laugh too! Why'd you hit me?"

Sakura's punches got harder every day. If she hit him a few more times...

Damn you, Cangyue-sensei! What have you been teaching Sakura?

"See? Summoning is a handy skill. If you're ever hungry, you've got emergency food." Aogetsu Hyuga rested a hand on Sasuke's shoulder and put on a comforting air, though a mocking grin spread across his face. "Don't be so down. Small can be cute too."

"Enough!" Sasuke Uchiha lowered his head, his black hair hiding his icy eyes and his expression. His face flushed with embarrassment, and his whole body shook with anger as he slowly clenched his fists.

Damn it. Damn that summon!

How dare it embarrass me like this!

Sasuke Uchiha shrugged off Cangyue's hand and raised his head, fixing him with a cold stare. "Three days. Give me three days, and I'll master summoning."

To be honest, he wanted to go home.

But even if he had to endure the humiliation, he was staying to see what that complete idiot Naruto Uzumaki would summon.

Aogetsu Hyuga turned to Naruto and Sakura. "Hurry up and choose, brats. How long does it take to pick a lousy summon?" His impatience was plain.

"Okay, okay." Sakura Haruno stuck out her tongue, then sprawled on the ground and rummaged through the mountain of scrolls, her little backside sticking up.

"Tch. Just wait, Sasuke. Mine will be way better than yours!" Naruto Uzumaki rubbed the bump on his head while searching for the coolest summon scroll.

"Come to think of it..." Aogetsu Hyuga suddenly remembered something. He rubbed his chin, his gaze settling on Sakura Haruno's swaying backside.

Nice backside.

Plenty to admire.

But that's beside the point. What matters now is...

I almost forgot about that.

Katsuyu!

He did not need to wait a month and go to Tanzaku Town to find Tsunade. He could have that brat Ping Xiong form a contract with Katsuyu, then ask her where Tsunade was.

He's the one who did something wrong, but he talks as though it's my fault.

Whenever anyone criticized or teased Cangyue-sensei, he could always find a hundred ways to talk back.
