History

Xu Chuan founded the household’s independent livelihood after leaving work with the wealthier Xu Lineage, which had employed both him and his father. He bought ten mu of rice paddies, then planted rare Jade Pears on ten mu of wooded hillside despite villagers’ doubts 1. He later purchased another fifty mu of rice fields, prioritizing a secure food supply before spending heavily on martial training 3.

The Jade Pear harvest gave the family a valuable source of income. Xu Chuan traded cultivation notes to Chen Daming for the Little Dragon Elephant Art and ten Qi-Blood Pills, establishing the household’s martial foundation 4 5. Xu Mingyuan led the family’s move into Qingjiang County commerce.
