Appearance
- Tall build: His already tall body becomes larger and more muscular under Martial Soul Possession 19.
- Transformed features: His hands become tiger paws, and long golden hair falls down his back 4 19.
- Distinctive eyes: His unusual eyes exert especially intense pressure when he activates the Evil-Eyed White Tiger 19.
Personality
Dai Mubai is proud of his strength and leadership position, but willing to acknowledge defeat. He argues that being Shrek’s oldest member, its highest-level Soul Master, and its established captain gives him a legitimate claim to lead the combined team. After losing the deciding match, however, he concedes without excuses and later becomes the first Shrek member to approve Ling Yun’s appointment 19 26.
He studies other fighters rather than charging in without thought. Watching Tang San’s first defeat, he recognizes that Ling Yun’s speed—not poor footwork—is the problem. His reactions improve in their rematch, and he later identifies Ling Yun’s taunts as deliberate psychological pressure against Tang San 4 19 24. His loyalty does not mean defending every teammate’s conduct: he does not excuse Xiao Wu’s attack after surrendering 22.
Abilities & Skills
Evil-Eyed White Tiger
Dai Mubai’s Martial Soul supports powerful direct attacks and strong defenses 4 5 19.
- Martial Soul Possession enlarges his muscles and transforms his hands into tiger paws 4.
- His claws can force Ling Yun backward even when Ling Yun blocks with both arms 5.
- His strength is less effective against opponents who deny him footing or remain beyond his reach 5 19.
White Tiger Protection Barrier
His First Soul Skill covers his body in white Soul Power 5 19.
- Absorbs kicks, elbow strikes, and repeated impacts while Dai Mubai remains combat-capable 5.
- Can be concentrated toward an incoming attack; he withstands and disperses a Water Shuriken through a burst of Soul Power 5.
- Does not prevent an opponent from disrupting his balance or throwing him 5.
White Tiger Fierce Light Wave
His Second Soul Skill releases a white light attack from his mouth 5.
- Used as a sweeping beam to attack across the training ground 5.
- Can produce successive projectiles to restrict an opponent’s movement routes 19.
- Water Shadow Clones can draw the attack away from Ling Yun’s real body 4 19.
White Tiger Vajra Transformation
His Third Soul Skill further enlarges his body and sharply increases strength, defense, and explosive power 19.
- Enables him to brace against a pull that would have thrown an ordinary Soul Elder 19.
- Has limited duration; sustained pursuit and exchanges drain his Soul Power until the enhancement weakens 19.
- Becomes more imposing when combined with Ning Rongrong’s support 27.
Combat Judgment and Teamwork
- Adjusts his approach after observing Tang San’s loss, immediately using his strongest transformation and ranged attack 4.
- In the rematch, attempts to attack before Ling Yun can prepare a water-covered battlefield 19.
- Serves as the team’s frontal pressure attacker under Tang San’s coordination, helping restrict Ling Yun’s escape routes and protect the support members 27 28.
Story Role / Major Arcs
First Defeat at Blue Tyrant Academy
Dai Mubai initially questions Ling Yun’s reputation, then becomes interested after Liu Erlong explains how he defeated stronger academy students 2. Following Tang San’s defeat, he steps forward in Xiao Wu’s place and challenges Ling Yun as a Level 37 Battle Soul Elder 4.
His defenses withstand ordinary strikes, but Ling Yun changes tactics: Water Shurikens force him to defend while the tongue scarf disrupts his balance. Ling Yun repeatedly throws and spins him before sending him into the training-ground fence. The defeat leads Flender to propose that the Shrek students train with Ling Yun 5 6.
Academy Name and Captaincy Dispute
During the argument over renaming Blue Tyrant Academy, Dai Mubai admits that he would dislike an equivalent change imposed on Shrek. His answer supports Ling Yun’s objection, and the academy retains its name 18.
He subsequently challenges Ling Yun for leadership of the combined tournament team. Although his reactions have improved, Ling Yun uses clones, water-assisted movement, and brief strikes to exhaust White Tiger Vajra Transformation. Once it weakens, Ling Yun pulls him beyond the boundary without using his Fourth Soul Skill. Dai Mubai lands unhurt and relinquishes the captaincy 19.
Seven-on-One Team Battle
After Flender confirms Ling Yun as captain, Tang San requests a team battle to test more than individual strength. Dai Mubai joins the seven-on-one match as the frontline attacker, using White Tiger Protection Barrier and White Tiger Vajra Transformation alongside Ning Rongrong’s boosts 26 27.
The coordinated team initially contains Ling Yun more effectively than its members did alone. Ling Yun then manipulates their protective responses and uses Ma Hongjun’s flames to generate vapor for Mist Veil. The supplied chapters end with all seven fighters engulfed in fog; the battle’s outcome remains unresolved 27 28.
Relationships
- Ling Yun — Rival and eventual team captain. Dai Mubai loses two individual matches to him, accepts the captaincy result, and later joins the team challenge 5 19 26 27.
- Tang San — Shrek teammate whose tactical judgment he respects. Dai Mubai follows his instructions as the frontline attacker during the seven-on-one battle 3 27 28.
- Ma Hongjun — Teammate with whom he trades jokes and barbs. Ma Hongjun challenges Ling Yun after Dai Mubai’s captaincy defeat; Dai Mubai later teases him for inadvertently preparing Ling Yun’s fog 19 20.
- Zhu Zhuqing — Teammate whose speed he knows well. He explains that her usual team duties rarely let her focus entirely on pursuing one opponent 21.
- Flender — Shrek dean who treats Dai Mubai’s loss as a reason to arrange tougher training with Ling Yun 6.
