Xiang Wencun and Chen Hao grew close during their three years of high school in Dongqing City. They studied together and hoped to enter the same university, but neither openly confessed their feelings. On graduation day, she said she had something to tell him; her sudden departure left that conversation unfinished 84.

Immediately after the college entrance exams, her father was diagnosed with liver cancer. Her family moved to another province overnight for treatment, leaving her no opportunity to say goodbye. Three years of medical expenses exhausted their savings and left them heavily indebted.
