Background / History
Qin Family upbringing
Qin Yumo belongs to a century-old family with substantial business resources and political connections despite its relatively low public profile. Its ancestors were battlefield generals, while later generations accumulated wealth through business 94 106.
She has possessed the Qi-Viewing Art since childhood. After more than twenty years of cultivation, she describes herself as having barely crossed its threshold. Over several years, she detects traces of the family estate’s concealed spiritual formation, but ancestral restrictions prevent her father from explaining more than its essentials 93 109.
Jade auction and Chen Hao
At the jade auction, Yumo offers to lend Chen Hao twenty million despite her attendant’s objections. She later explains that his selection of a spiritually valuable rough stone made her suspect he possessed the Qi-Viewing Art; backing him allowed her to test that suspicion 91 93.
She bids four hundred million for the jade known as Red Rain and tells Chen Hao that it represents her grandfather’s life. During the auction, she senses an eerie force associated with the ghost concealed in the jade, although she cannot identify what she has felt 94.
The Qin estate crisis
With Elder Qin critically ill, Yumo initially supports Elder Yun’s proposal to move him from his room. Chen Hao warns that removing him from the basement formation’s protection would kill him. His successful treatment and discovery of the family’s secret earn Qin Xiao’s trust; Qin Xiao subsequently suggests that Yumo consider marrying him 108 109.
When the Lu Association attacks, Yumo shelters with her grandfather in a fortified chamber. She wants to join the fighting, but Chen Hao persuades her to remain because her Qi Nurturing cultivation is insufficient against the attackers 113.
Qin Xiao is mortally wounded and dies after asking her to seek Chen Hao’s help. Yumo takes Chen Hao into the ancestral vault and offers its treasures—and herself—to secure the family’s survival. He refuses the sexual offer, agrees to help, and accepts an ancestral painting and a rusted blade. Qin Kai subsequently misinterprets her disheveled appearance, creating an argument that Chen Hao redirects toward their grandfather’s condition 116 117.
Journey to Yunjiang
Yumo arranges an investigation into Nine Blades and Elder Yun, whose identity is confirmed as Cloud Valley Adept. Before the expedition, she buys Chen Hao a costly Qi-Replenishing Pill and explains the grading of spirit artifacts, techniques, and pills 131 132.
She coordinates the journey with Blackbeard’s mercenaries while withholding its purpose. After a wolf attack and a fall into a basin, she and Chen Hao shelter together, bury deceased Qin Family members, and build a smoke signal. Despite mounting losses and warnings about Nine Blades’ strength, she remains determined to save her grandfather 133 137 138 140.
Yun Family visit and mine collapse
After leaving the mountains, Yumo accompanies Chen Hao to Yun Yao’s mining operation. She comforts Yun Yao as the latter reveals her father’s vegetative condition and the financial threat hanging over their family branch. Yumo later visits the Yun estate with them and receives unwanted attention from Yun Hong 161 167.
While investigating a jade vein, Yumo and Chen Hao fall into a cramped, water-filled pit. An explosion buries them, and rising water nearly drowns them. Believing death unavoidable, she tells him that dying together would be enough for her. The restored Crescent Pendant saves them by admitting them into Guanghan Palace, where Chen Hao revives her with rescue breaths 172 173.
They escape after Chen Hao uses a Samadhi True Fire Talisman to blast open the mining area. Yumo subsequently accompanies him to Capital City and reunites with her awakened grandfather 175 178.
Investment and renewed family loss
Yumo commits twenty billion yuan to Blue Light Pharmaceuticals after Chen Hao explains its development plans. He recognizes that she has staked the Qin Family’s future on him personally. She later attends the Dihao Group press conference as a major shareholder, while Qin Kai assumes responsibility for the family’s affairs 206 279.
During the New Year, Elder Qin dies protecting Chu Jinliang in a failed operation against Rakshasa. Yumo calls Chen Hao in tears. She later explains that her grandfather joined the operation to avenge the family’s losses caused by Cloud Valley Adept, and asks Chen Hao to leave that enemy alive so she can take revenge herself 225 227.
Founding Heavenly Gate
After learning that Yumo is destined to die at noon in thirty days, Chen Hao accelerates plans to establish an independent organization. Yumo assists him and proposes its accepted name, Heavenly Gate 294.
Cultivating in Guanghan Palace brings her to the Third Realm threshold. Chen Hao helps her condense Qi Armor with dragon blood, then appoints her Deputy Sect Leader. She accepts despite recognizing the weight of the responsibility. Together with Long Xiaotian, she helps establish the sect’s internal rules, supported by newly appointed elders 295 299.
Death at the founding ceremony
On the ceremony day, Chen Hao cannot hide Yumo in the Crescent Pendant. Instead, he places her underwater within the Water-Repelling Pearl’s barrier, supplies protective talismans, and begs her not to emerge before noon. She agrees but feels excluded and abandoned 300.
As bodies sink into the water during the battle above, concern for Chen Hao drives her to leave the barrier early. Michelle immediately recognizes her importance to him and captures her 302 305.
Michelle forces Chen Hao to kneel, surrender the Electric Crystal, and repeatedly injure himself. Unable to endure watching him suffer, Yumo confesses her love and strikes Michelle’s gripping hand so that his claws penetrate her throat completely. She dies to stop Chen Hao’s further sacrifice. Michelle then extracts her soul into a silver cross 306.
Her death forces Chen Hao to acknowledge his love and reject the supposed romantic destiny that had kept him from accepting her. Qin Kai entrusts him with her body after he promises to resurrect her; Horse Face supplies a Yin Spirit Bead to slow its decay 306 308.
Resurrection and relationship with Chen Hao
Chen Hao restores Yumo’s damaged body in the Blood Coffin using dragon blood as the final ingredient. Horse Face returns her soul with a sacrifice later revealed to have cost Chen Hao fifty years of yang lifespan 338 339 343.
Yumo awakens without recognizing the aged Chen Hao and attacks him before confirming his identity. Once reunited, she kisses him and refuses his attempts to send her away, insisting that his appearance does not matter 339.
Back on Heavenly Gate Island, she recruits CC to investigate Chen Hao’s decline. After Chen Hao explains the true cost of her resurrection, she responds with guilt, gratitude, and renewed devotion. Liu Yan steps aside, and Yumo and Chen Hao reunite romantically 341 342 343.
Defense and reconstruction of the New World
During the T-Virus crisis, Yumo collects jade in Guanglan Province and later leads reinforcements from Ancient Dragon, Capital Gate, and Kirin. She commands Heavenly Gate’s forces at the heavily pressured eastern array site 378 381 394.
Her relationship with Chen Hao becomes strained as he conceals his intended sacrifice. She fights recklessly, refuses his assistance, and attacks a colossal fire-breathing infected beast alone. Afterward, she orders the soldiers to tend the wounded and establish a defensive perimeter 388 394 395.
By this period, she is identified as the New World’s leader. Following Chen Hao’s apparent death, she receives his recorded explanation: he distanced himself because he knew she would otherwise accompany him into certain death. He asks her to rebuild humanity’s home and care for his loved ones 398 400.
Yumo leads reconstruction and mourns at Chen Hao’s statue until he returns in another body. She recognizes him through private memories and vows never to let him go. In the side stories, she continues organizing resources and attempts to stop an erupting volcano with CC; Chen Hao’s transformed return finally allows her to release the pressure she has borne alone 401 403 405.
Appearance
- Long hair and delicate features: Her hair and face are prominently described during the sunset scene on Heavenly Gate Island 299.
- Pale skin: Her hands are described as jade-white, and her skin as snow-white 89 113.
- Red dress: Chen Hao remembers her wearing red at their first meeting 306.
- Cool, aloof bearing: At the Dihao Group press conference, she is described as a beauty resembling a celestial maiden 279.
- Emerald-green Qi Armor: Her armor bears markings resembling dragon scales 295.
- Dark mole on her chest: Chen Hao cites this private detail to prove his identity after returning in another body 401.
Personality
Yumo is observant, practical, and accustomed to handling difficulties herself. Her offer to finance Chen Hao at the auction is a calculated test of his abilities, while her expedition preparations include investigations, hired guides, and an expensive emergency pill. Chen Hao notes that she normally avoids burdening others unless a problem exceeds what she can bear alone 91 93 131 132 225.
Family duty can push her to extremes. She relinquishes ancestral treasures to save the Qin Family, continues toward Nine Blades despite its intimidating strength, and seeks personal revenge for her grandfather’s death. Her empathy also extends beyond her relatives: she comforts Yun Yao and later accepts responsibility for humanity’s reconstruction 117 140 161 227 405.
Her love for Chen Hao is persistent and openly defiant once confessed. She accepts his aged appearance and refuses separation, but fear of being excluded from his life can become recklessness: she leaves protective shelter during the founding ceremony and later rejects battlefield help while angry with him 305 339 394.
