Ch. 1Start cultivating early!

Liu Xing struggled with the thought that the old man might soon die, then hunted a Long-Tailed Pig and practiced the Nine Great Wilderness Forms. The old man praised his progress but lamented that Liu Xing had no spiritual root.

  • Liu Xing left the cave and dragged a great stone across the Frozen Earth Plains to vent his grief over the old man's failing health.
  • Liu Xing returned with a Long-Tailed Pig and told the old man he had practiced five movements from the Jade Slip.
  • The old man said Liu Xing could eventually become safe from the fierce beasts on Connors Star, but warned him that a swarm of Spotted Mice was still too dangerous.
  • After the old man fell asleep, Liu Xing practiced the Nine Great Wilderness Forms and recalled how the old man had trained him since he was a baby.
  • Liu Xing remembered mastering the first form at age three and realizing that the old man was growing weaker as he grew stronger.

Ch. 2Cramming Education?

Liu Xing grew stronger on Connors Star, hunting for himself and memorizing the knowledge the old man passed on through jade slips as the old man’s health declined. After mastering the fifth of the Nine Great Wilderness Forms, Liu Xing found the old man waiting for him, looking unexpectedly better.

  • Liu Xing learned that mastering the Nine Great Wilderness Forms was essential to keeping himself and the old man alive, and trained relentlessly as the old man grew too feeble to hunt.
  • The old man made Liu Xing memorize jade slips and destroy each one after he learned its contents, while Liu Xing sensed that the old man’s time was running out.
  • Liu Xing practiced the fifth of the Nine Great Wilderness Forms until he could perform all nine movements without pausing.
  • The old man came to Liu Xing, sat down across from him, and said he had come to check whether Liu Xing was training.

Ch. 3A Story of Origins

The old man began telling Liu Xing how humanity originated on Earth and how nuclear war drove survivors and cultivators into space. He left Liu Xing with the history of the Galactic Federation and the Cultivation World’s powerful role in human society.

  • The old man said cultivators became guardians of human society, while major sects and aristocratic clans gained influence exceeding that of the Federation’s parliament.

Ch. 4Great Cosmic Cultivation Era

The chapter explained how cultivation flourished across the Galactic Federation and how Connors Star became a forgotten garbage planet. It revealed that the old man had fled there after his cultivation was destroyed, leaving him stranded and steadily weakening.

  • Human society integrated with the Cultivation World, and sects began selecting disciples from large populations across the galaxy.
  • The growing number of cultivators drove demand for resources, prompting the Galactic Federation to develop industries and explore thousands of planets.
  • Humanity classified Connors Star as a worthless garbage planet because of its harsh conditions and sparse spiritual energy.
  • The old man, once a Nascent Soul Realm expert, escaped to Connors Star after his Nascent Soul was severed and his Qi Sea Core shattered.
  • The old man's remaining spiritual energy gradually ran out, causing him to weaken from a capable hunter into a decrepit figure.

Ch. 5Ancient Martial Arts, Chicken Ribs?

The chapter explained how the old man found Liu Xing as a newborn on Connors Star and raised him, then trained him in the Nine Great Wilderness Forms because he lacked a spiritual root. Liu Xing’s relentless practice made him superhuman and helped the pair survive Connors Star’s harsh wilderness.

  • The old man found newborn Liu Xing in an Escape Pod and took him home, naming him after his fall from the sky.
  • After realizing Liu Xing had no spiritual root and that his own destroyed cultivation left him little time, the old man chose the Nine Great Wilderness Forms to strengthen him.
  • Liu Xing mastered the forms at an extraordinary pace, developing strength, speed, reflexes, and toughness far beyond ordinary people.
  • The old man made Liu Xing memorize his many secret training methods, hoping he might someday leave Connors Star and pass them on.
  • Liu Xing’s training helped him and the old man endure Connors Star, where ferocious primitive creatures preyed on the weak.

Ch. 6Farewell, Old Man!

Liu Xing listened to the old man’s final advice and inherited his Jade Slips before the old man died in the cave. After mourning him, Liu Xing ran across Connors Star and faced the loneliness of living there alone.

  • The old man recounted his past and warned Liu Xing about the dangers of the outside world, while urging him to memorize and destroy the Jade Slips.
  • The old man spent his last day speaking with Liu Xing, then exhausted his remaining life force and died that night.

  • Liu Xing roasted the Spotted Mouse King over a campfire as the cave filled with the smell of cooking meat.

Ch. 9Beyond the Limits

Liu Xing mourned the old man while reflecting on his years of training and his hope of reaching the outside world. Though he could not cultivate without a spiritual root, he had pushed his physical strength beyond human limits through the Nine Great Wilderness Forms and relentless conditioning.

  • Liu Xing offered the Spotted Mouse King's roasted hind leg to the old man's grave and thanked him for leaving the Nine Great Wilderness Forms.
  • Liu Xing told the old man he had memorized the Jade Slips, mastered the Nine Great Wilderness Forms, and hoped to leave Connors Star to learn about cultivators.
  • Liu Xing ate the roasted Spotted Mouse, put out the embers, and fell asleep in the cave.
  • Liu Xing's training was revealed to have exceeded his body's limits repeatedly, made possible by his will, exceptional physique, and the Nine Great Wilderness Forms.

Ch. 10A Sudden Change at Midnight

Liu Xing reflected on the limits of his body-training and resolved to surpass them despite lacking a Spiritual Root. A fiery metal object then descended toward the hills where he lived, waking him and drawing him outside to investigate.

  • Liu Xing experimented with the cultivation formulas in the Jade Slip and pieced together how Spiritual Roots, meridians, and internal training worked.
