Background
Xia Mi is the human disguise of Jörmungandr, the Dragon King of Earth and Mountain. Though a noble First Generation, she and Norton are newly awakened and currently exist in weak hatchling-stage human forms. Her desired super-evolved form is Hela, a state she initially considers little more than a dream. Her younger brother, Fenrir, has only reached the sub-adult stage. 80
Unlike dragons who seek strength by devouring their kin, Xia Mi and Norton choose contractual cooperation. They organize a Holy Grail War to develop Heroic Spirit technology and gain enough power to face the eventual return of the Black King Níðhöggr, whose resurrection would destroy the world. 243
Before revealing herself, Xia Mi operates under the persona of an impoverished junior student. She shadows Shirou Emiya and Nono to investigate Odin's agents, then joins Emiya's Eastern Ocean project after passing an unusually difficult assistant examination. 80 123 124
Appearance
In her human guise, Xia Mi is a tall, slender young woman with fair skin and an intentionally charming, youthful demeanor. She often wears her hair simply tied back; when she reveals her Dragon King nature, her high ponytail and pure golden eyes become especially conspicuous. 122 123 243
- Picturesque facial features and a soft, delicate complexion. 122 123
- A poised, ballet-like manner of movement. 123
- Long, fair legs and a light, fluid bearing. 123 124
- Pure golden eyes when her human façade drops. 243
Personality
Xia Mi is proud, competitive, and intensely unwilling to be dismissed as weak or unnecessary. Being sidelined by Norton repeatedly provokes her into ambitious projects, from designing Heroic Spirit aspects to pursuing a personal Attila-based Servant form. 122 129 131 174
She is also resourceful and theatrical. Her “poor junior student” act secures her an opening with Emiya, while her Dragon King identity allows her to conceal formidable knowledge and strength behind deliberate incompetence. Nono later realizes that Xia Mi had used a carefully constructed false identity to evade her Profiling State. 123 127 257
Despite her arrogance, Xia Mi studies seriously when confronted with gaps in her knowledge. She seeks Emiya's guidance on Magecraft and history, tolerates Norton's criticism, and works herself into exhaustion while preparing Heroic Spirit designs and Earth Vein operations. 129 131 196
Abilities & Skills
Dragon King Physiology
As a First Generation Dragon King, Xia Mi possesses physical abilities far beyond humans even while using a hatchling-stage human body.
- Can overwhelm groups of armed trackers without Dragon Transformation. 83
- Moves fast enough to cross the Yokohama–Tokyo distance directly at speeds exceeding a train. 128
- Can survive falls and movements that would be fatal to ordinary humans. 243
- Her First Generation bloodline commands deference from Death Servants, Dragon Attendants, and Corpse Guards. 427
- Her human form remains below her desired super-evolved Hela state. 80
Earth and Structural Manipulation
Xia Mi's authority over earth is expressed through extraordinary control of force, stress, and material structure.
- Can destroy bridges, train stations, and other structures by disrupting their internal stress balance. 122
- Opens and expands underground chambers by analyzing soil and rock layers while preventing collapse. 128
- Uses her control over terrain for infiltration, including tunneling into the White King's hidden palace. 199
- Can manipulate other elements indirectly through Alchemical elemental exchange. 372
Words of Power
Xia Mi uses Dragon Clan Words of Power for detection, concealment, and practical operations.
- Bloodline Binding Net — detects nearby Dragon Clan bloodlines and Hybrid residents. 83
- Uses hypnosis to interrogate captured trackers' memories. 83
- Conceals herself with a Word of Power during the underwater-institute infiltration. 86
- Can simulate abilities from other Dragon King lineages, including Eye of the Wind King and Heaven and Earth as a Furnace, through elemental exchange. 372
Martial Arts and Swordsmanship
Xia Mi is a highly refined close-quarters combatant whose technical skill exceeds most of her peers.
- Her control of power is precise enough for both delicate talisman work and devastating unarmed attacks. 122
- Is described as a martial arts master and a master of virtually any weapon, including blades, spears, and staffs. 199
- Uses the Sword of the War God against the Yamata no Orochi. 199
- Her skill has limits against divine defenses: the Sword of the War God cannot penetrate the pseudo-god Yamata no Orochi's protection. 199
Magecraft, Alchemy, and Heroic Spirit Research
Xia Mi studies human Magecraft to supplement her Dragon King abilities and contribute to the Heroic Spirit system.
- Draws talismans more accurately than those recorded in human Magecraft textbooks. 122
- Demonstrates enough Magecraft theory to earn Nono's reluctant acceptance as Emiya's assistant. 125
- Assists with Earth Vein and Greater Grail preparation, though Norton provides remote guidance for advanced operations. 129 240
- Develops design drafts for multiple Heroic Spirit aspects through Spiritual Remelting concepts. 128 129
- Seeks to create a powerful Attila-based Heroic Spirit that would let her transform into a personal “alt account.” 129 131 174
- Remains less advanced than Norton in practical Alchemy and is criticized for her slow progress. 196
Equipment
- Sword of the War God — Xia Mi's primary weapon in her assault on the White King's palace and Yamata no Orochi. 199
- Magecraft notes and research materials — used for talisman practice, Heroic Spirit design, and historical-object research. 124 131
Relationships
- Norton — Contractual Dragon King ally and frequent collaborator. Their Blood Oath allows remote guidance and cooperation, but Norton's dismissive attitude repeatedly fuels Xia Mi's resentment. 83 122 243
- Fenrir — Her younger brother, a sub-adult Dragon King with the mentality of a human child. Xia Mi protects and indulges him with snacks, games, and equipment, though he easily reveals her secrets. 80 343
- Shirou Emiya — Initially her senior and employer on the Eastern Ocean project. Their relationship becomes complicated after Emiya discovers her role in the Holy Grail War and uses the Blood Oath to hold her accountable. 124 243 256 257
- Nono — Fellow member of Emiya's household. Nono begins suspicious of Xia Mi's assistant role, later empathizes with her struggles, and remains angered by Xia Mi's deception. 125 127 257
- Mélusine — A fellow Dragon Kind whose presence in Emiya's group complicates Xia Mi's position. Mélusine later forcibly brings a sneaking Xia Mi back to dinner with the household. 97 256
- Eriyi — Household companion and sparring partner. Xia Mi is exhausted after training with her, and joins Nono and Eriyi in rushing to greet Emiya upon his return to Avalon. 340
Story Role / Major Arcs
Odin Investigation and Underwater Institute
Xia Mi tails Emiya and Nono because Odin's agents may target them and Nono bears Odin's mark. After exposing Hunter Net trackers connected to Odin, she decides to learn Magecraft for Heroic Spirit research. 80 83
During the infiltration of a hidden underwater institute, Xia Mi initially observes Emiya's group from concealment. After witnessing Emiya battle Leviathan, she investigates the laboratory and attempts to claim the experimental Death Servant Mélusine Zero. 86 88
Heroic Spirit and Holy Grail Research
Xia Mi is frustrated when Norton and Lu Mingze create the Throne of Heroes without her meaningful participation. She insists on leading the resulting army as Hela and takes responsibility for summoning another Heroic Spirit. 97 98
After Norton removes her from the research team, Xia Mi passes Emiya's assistant examination and travels with his group to the Eastern Ocean. She studies Magecraft, researches historical legends, and takes on the burdensome task of designing additional Servant aspects. 122 124 128 129
White King Conflict
While searching a White King Nibelungen, Xia Mi investigates imitation experiments involving Servants, divine shells, and Dragon Clan corpses. She later enters the White King's palace with the Sword of the War God, destroys the ancient throne, and battles Yamata no Orochi, but is decisively outmatched by its divine sword and defenses. 196 199
Revelation and Household Punishment
Xia Mi eventually admits to Emiya that she is a Dragon King and one of the Holy Grail War's organizers. She explains that the White King went out of control and turned the war into a sacrificial ritual intended to elevate herself into a god. 243
After the Blood Oath compels her to confess that her negligence helped allow the divine being's escape, Emiya makes Xia Mi serve as a maid until she proves herself. She later becomes the household's head maid despite continuing to resent her reduced status. 257 387
Chaldea Service
Within Chaldea, Xia Mi becomes dissatisfied with her perceived lack of strength and visits Fenrir during the Spirit Origin Revival plan. 430
She later finds a field where her Dragon King status is invaluable: guiding Chaldea's forces through Dragon lairs, tombs, and ruins to obtain rare materials. Her bloodline deters most Dragon Clan defenders, who address her as “Great King.” 427
Notable Quotes

“We chose another path of cooperation and mutual benefit.” 243
Trivia
