Wang Tong was a modern man who transmigrated into the yet-unformed Tongtian, one of the Three Pure Ones. After inheriting memories of Tongtian's future downfall—betrayal by Laozi and Yuanshi, the collapse of the Jie Sect, and imprisonment in the Purple Cloud Palace—he resolved to surpass the Heavenly Dao's arrangements rather than accept that fate 1.

A century later, the Great Dao granted him heaven-defying Insight. The blessing allowed him to derive techniques and abilities from observation and experience, beginning with Nine Breaths Qi Absorption and the Nine Revolutions Profound Skill. He accelerated his transformation, became the first of the Three Pure Ones to take form, and reached the Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal realm after surviving his Transformation Tribulation 1 2.
