Arc 1The Storm and the Siren

Mulan returned to Valentine, where a storm, a Siren, and the Mad Killer drew him into the hidden world of supernatural forces. After Sir Walton introduced him to the Otherworld and left him with captured cultists and personal errands, Mulan began making connections among the city’s prominent residents.

  • Li Xiu awakened in Mulan Jonester’s body, learned the Third Battalion’s defeat had been pinned on him, and went to court to defend his soldiers’ honor.
  • Mulan showed the tribunal that his wounds proved he had faced the enemy, and the court disbanded the Third Battalion, demoted him, and granted his discharge.

Arc 2The Black Castle Assignment

Mulan defeated an Ancient Fiend at the Count's Estate, was made an Imperial Knight, and began investigating supernatural cases in Digo. As Sea Soul awakened and visions of the Wyrd Moon surfaced, Mulan and Evan examined the dangers of seeking power from chaos and Evil Gods, while Mulan supported the families of his soldiers and faced a new difficult case.

  • Mulan attended Lily Blanclin's birthday ball, challenged Sir Bess after Bess insulted his family, and defeated him, but sensed the estate had fallen under the Otherworld's influence.
  • Mulan rode to Evan for help, and they returned to the estate, rescued the survivors, and fought the Ancient Fiend until Evan's Purification wounded it and they escaped back to reality.

After killing Silver Mane, Mulan formed an alliance with Shire and marked him with the Book of Dawn to help him resist the vampire blood within him.

  • Mulan read the Holy Temple’s registers, sensed that Taylor was listed as a blasphemous heretic, and reached Taylor through a dream of the Holy Baptism.
  • Mulan discussed workers’ protests and Moor’s writing, then became a full member of the Magic Department and met Queen Nisheriel, who appointed him a magic adviser.
