Background / History

Transportation and early Shibuya attempts

Kinoshita originally knows Jujutsu Kaisen as a fictional story and follows its battles closely. After provoking an online argument and claiming he would fight Sukuna himself, he is transported into a system-controlled staging area. He chooses October 31, 2018—the Shibuya Incident—because Sukuna is weaker there than in the other available scenarios 1.

His first arrival places him beside Megumi’s Mahoraga summoning. He attempts to flee but dies beneath a building destroyed by Sukuna. On his next attempt, he meets Yuji and uses detailed knowledge of Yuji’s history to establish credibility. He then interrupts Choso’s revenge attack by revealing their connection through Kenjaku, helping turn an imminent fight into an uneasy alliance 2 3 4.

Kinoshita directs Yuji and Choso toward Jogo’s battle while they are pursued by Toji. His fascination with Jogo’s fight against Mahoraga overrides his caution: he remains to watch Maximum: Meteor and is killed by a falling utility pole 5 6 7.

Construction and the first Sukuna confrontation

After obtaining Construction, Kinoshita fights Mahito alongside Nobara, Yuji, and Todo. He develops Reverse Cursed Technique and Deconstruction during the battle, severely damaging Mahito’s soul. His attempt to finish Mahito fails when Kenjaku intervenes and deploys Womb Profusion 8 9 10 11 12.

During the ensuing Culling Game, he shelters more than thirty civilians in Sendai and prepares a long-term poisoning campaign against Kurourushi. He joins Yuta, kills the weakened curse with its own Festering Life Sword, drives Uro out of combat through deception, and helps defeat Ishigori. He subsequently transfers his fifty points to Yuta 15 16 17 18 19.

In Tokyo No. 1 Colony, Kinoshita encounters Kashimo and tries to exploit Sukuna’s unstable possession of Megumi. After Kashimo’s death, he joins the assault himself. Deconstruction erases part of Sukuna’s face and soul, but Kinoshita ultimately dies to Malevolent Shrine. He accepts the defeat without regret and returns to the system substantially stronger 20 22 23 24 25 26.

Return to Shibuya

With Blood Manipulation and vastly enlarged reserves, Kinoshita chooses Shibuya again to gain experience against disaster curses and domains. He overwhelms Dagon outside its domain, then withstands its sure-hit shikigami attacks using Blood Armor and healing 27 28.

He rescues Megumi from Mahoraga’s summoning aftermath and later fights Jogo, who has consumed ten Sukuna fingers. A coordinated bluff with Megumi lets Kinoshita land his first Black Flash. Sukuna subsequently takes control of Jogo and burns Kinoshita with Furnace: Open, but Kinoshita survives and returns to confront him 30 32 33 36.

Unable to match Sukuna directly, Kinoshita repeatedly targets Megumi to force Sukuna into protecting him. After the Shibuya battle, Yuji and Megumi rescue Kinoshita, and Shoko treats him at Yuki’s request. He awakens on November 6 with severe scars and learns that the Higher-Ups have ordered his execution 37 38 40.

Execution squad and recruitment campaign

Kinoshita defeats the execution force led by Gakuganji, incapacitating Ranta, Jinichi, Gakuganji, and Naoya. He deliberately avoids killing the Zenin fighters because he wants to preserve the circumstances leading to Maki’s expected awakening 41 42 43.

At Hakari’s casino, he fights Panda before challenging Hakari and Kirara together. He wins by exploiting Love Rendezvous to send blood toward Kirara without harming them, prompting Hakari to concede. Kinoshita recruits Hakari to bring Kashimo to Tokyo No. 1 Colony and seek Ishigori’s cooperation 43 44 45 47.

After entering the colony on November 7, he forces Reggie’s cooperation and learns Hollow Wicker Basket. On November 8, he spends one hundred points to permit free travel through colony barriers. His next recruitment attempt brings him into Higuruma’s Deadly Sentencing, where Judgeman accuses him of theft committed on November 6 47 48 50.

Appearance

  • Bangs: Frequently sweeps them aside for dramatic effect; once styles his hair like Sukuna’s while boasting to Nobara 4 8.
  • Burn scars: Surviving Furnace: Open leaves visible facial scars; severe scarring remains after Shoko’s treatment 36 40 43.
  • Battle-damaged appearance: Frightens Remi, while Reggie remarks favorably on his scars 48.
  • Combat armor: Uses liquid-metal structures, exoskeletons, Blood Armor, and a blood-red Insect Armor rather than a single fixed outfit 8 32 37.

Personality

Kinoshita is an argumentative showman whose internet bravado carries into lethal encounters. He taunts opponents, obsessively compares their strength, and values dramatic entrances. His confidence can reverse immediately when a defense fails: after Kashimo tears open his Faraday cage, he switches from ridicule to extravagant flattery 10 20 26.

His desire to witness powerful battles gradually becomes a desire to participate in them. Early on, he seeks protection from Yuji and Choso while hoping their victories improve his evaluation. After fighting Sukuna directly, he takes satisfaction in having died pursuing strength rather than as unnoticed collateral damage 5 6 7 26.

His compassion is selective rather than duty-bound. He shelters civilians and dislikes personally causing avoidable innocent deaths, but uses coercion, humiliation, and lethal force against opponents. He is even willing to risk injuring Megumi to pressure Sukuna, while admitting that the possibility frightens him 15 17 37 38 48 50.

Abilities & Skills

System-Assisted Revival and Growth

The system converts failed attempts into opportunities for permanent improvement 1 7 26.

  • Begins with nine revivals; favorable evaluations can award additional chances 1.
  • Death reports assess his performance and may reward talent, cursed energy, lottery draws, and rollbacks 2 7 26.
  • Lottery rewards include innate techniques, combat experience, energy, and technical proficiency; a technique is not guaranteed with each draw 8 26.
  • Can select among available dates for another attempt and retains enough knowledge of previous encounters to revise his strategy 1 26 27.
  • Construction and Blood Manipulation occupy two of three innate-technique slots. Reverse Cursed Technique and Deconstruction are listed as derivative abilities rather than additional innate techniques 27.

Construction Technique

Creates substances Kinoshita has encountered, enabling weapons, defenses, supplies, and biological material 16.

  • Physical reinforcement: Constructs liquid-metal blades, enlarged muscle structures, spring-like leg exoskeletons, and protective shells 8 24 45.
  • Unconventional attacks: Employs toxins, radiation hazards, liquid-metal confinement, and blinding explosive devices against Mahito 8 9 11.
  • Practical supplies: Creates potatoes, pesticides, oxygen tanks, a makeshift toilet, and a parachute 15 30 48.
  • Blood production: Supplies Blood Manipulation without relying on stored blood or a cursed spirit constitution 27 32.
  • Energy limitations: Complex or extensive construction is expensive; familiar, simple materials cost less. His early reserves cannot support full-body reinforcement 8 15 17.
  • Ten-second vow: Temporarily created matter costs almost no energy but disappears after ten seconds. Repeated strikes on the same location, sufficiently powerful attacks, domains, and eventual exhaustion can overcome the refreshed defense 24.

Reverse Cursed Technique

Produces positive energy to repair his own body, first mastered after Mahito’s transfigured creature nearly kills him 10 11.

  • Heals muscular damage caused by Ochre Scale: Modified, serious wounds, and burns 28 33 37.
  • Early use is costly enough that, after attacking Mahito’s soul, he can only stop his severed arm from bleeding before collapsing 11.
  • Remains inefficient compared with Sukuna’s healing; his large reserves do not eliminate the danger of exhaustion 37 46.
  • Cannot output Reverse Cursed Technique externally at the time of his renewed Sukuna confrontation 37.
  • Later reduces repair costs by supplying replacement blood and muscle from his surroundings; this method is less useful when complex internal organs are damaged 49.

Cursed Technique Deconstruction

Construction’s reversal uses positive energy to annihilate what Kinoshita touches. A binding vow extends its effect to the soul 11.

  • Removes part of Mahito’s soul, bypassing the limitations of attacks that only damage his body 11.
  • Erases part of Sukuna’s face and soul during their first direct confrontation 25.
  • Requires contact and substantial energy; Kenjaku prevents its use against Mahito by catching Kinoshita’s wrist 11 12.

Blood Manipulation

Kinoshita combines the inherited technique with constructed blood, poisons, healing, and engineered armor 27 32.

  • Piercing Blood: Fires compressed blood at high speed; can carry toxins or be charged for greater destructive power 28 37 46.
  • Blood Binding: Restrains targets, including Dagon’s shikigami and Gakuganji 28 42.
  • Blood Armor: Forms protective blood layers, though powerful attacks from Sukuna and jackpot Hakari can break them 37 45.
  • Ochre Scale: Modified: Enhances physical performance through blood-flow control. Its speed impresses Naobito, but it damages muscles and later strains internal organs 28 32.
  • Insect Armor: Combines constructed armor, circulating blood, and Blood Manipulation into reinforced combat equipment 32 37.
  • Maximum Technique: Blood Red: Releases a massive volume of blood; its original design commits enormous energy while still allowing opponents to escape 32 42.
  • Blood Red-Modified: First spreads a controllable layer of blood, then releases greater power when needed 42.
  • Supernova: Swarm: Creates numerous explosive blood masses. Their unpredictable chain reactions defeat Naoya’s preplanned Projection Sorcery routes 42 43.

Black Flash

  • Lands his first Black Flash against Jogo, using Megumi’s false summoning as a distraction 33.
  • The breakthrough restores his ability to use Reverse Cursed Technique during the battle 33.

Anti-Domain Techniques

  • Hollow Wicker Basket: Learned from Reggie in two hours; produces a blue-violet lattice that neutralizes domain sure-hit effects while its hand sign is maintained 50.
  • Domain Expansion: Has not developed his own despite experiencing several enemy domains 37 47.
  • Simple Domain: Identifies it as worth studying, but the supplied chapters do not establish that he learns it 40.

Tactical Knowledge and Scientific Improvisation

Kinoshita’s familiarity with the original story supplies information about identities, motives, techniques, and anticipated events 2 3 16 27.

  • Redirects Choso’s hostility by appealing to his relationship with Yuji 3 4.
  • Poisons Kurourushi over ten days by exploiting cockroaches’ consumption of poisoned dead and Kurourushi’s connection to its swarm 17.
  • Constructs a Faraday cage that counters Kashimo’s lightning, though Kashimo defeats it through brute force 20.
  • Uses dyed water disguised as Piercing Blood to mislead Uro and alcohol to disrupt Ishigori’s hair-based cannon 17 18.
  • Analyzes Projection Sorcery and Love Rendezvous, then exploits their movement rules 41 43 44 47.
  • Recognizes that his interventions alter expected events, limiting the reliability of his foreknowledge 15 21.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Festering Life Sword — Takes Kurourushi’s cursed tool to finish it off, then uses its embedded creatures against Ishigori 17 18.
  • Liquid-metal weapons and shields — Constructed blades, enclosing spheres, and defensive barriers used against Mahito and Ishigori 8 9 19.
  • Constructed wings — Wasp-like wings permit aerial pursuit and ranged attacks against Sukuna; flight also helps him pressure Hakari 38 46.
  • Maps — Uses maps to navigate between colonies and destinations, though he still struggles with directions 14 19 40.

Relationships

  • Yuji Itadori — Repeated ally. Kinoshita mediates his conflict with Choso and fights beside him against Mahito and Sukuna; Yuji later helps rescue him after Shibuya 3 9 22 40.
  • Choso — Initially threatens Kinoshita, then cooperates after accepting Yuji as his brother. Kinoshita relies heavily on his protection during an early attempt 4 5 6.
  • Nobara Kugisaki — Distrustful ally whose first encounter with him involves threats and a chase; later cooperates against Mahito and Sukuna 8 9 24.
  • Aoi Todo — Declares Kinoshita his best friend after their Mahito battle and an imagined exchange about persevering with Takada-chan 11 12.
  • Yuta Okkotsu — Sendai partner who admires his preparation against Kurourushi. Kinoshita helps him against the other players and transfers fifty points to him 16 17 18 19.
  • Hajime Kashimo — Begins as a threatening opponent, becomes a prospective weapon against Sukuna, and shares a friendly afterlife conversation with Kinoshita 20 23 26.
  • Megumi Fushiguro — Rescued and sheltered by Kinoshita, then used as dangerous leverage against Sukuna. Later helps rescue Kinoshita himself 30 37 40.
  • Kinji Hakari and Kirara Hoshi — Challenged together at the casino. After Kinoshita wins without harming Kirara, Hakari agrees to assist his recruitment plan 44 45 47.
  • Shoko Ieiri — Treats his post-Shibuya injuries and informs him of his execution order 40.
  • Reggie — Coerced into cooperation and teaches him Hollow Wicker Basket 48 50.
  • Hiromi Higuruma — Desired recruit for his confiscation ability; instead places Kinoshita on trial during their meeting 50.
  • Ryomen Sukuna — Central challenge and repeated source of defeat. Kinoshita learns to respect his tactical superiority without abandoning his goal of killing him 1 25 26 37 47.
  • Jujutsu Higher-Ups — Order his execution over suspected links to Yuji and Sukuna; their dispatched force fails to kill him 40 41 42 43.
